Form PDF - total update scripts

So I set up a purchase order in acrobat format. The user enters a quantity for each item and the item subtotal and total combined costs are calculated. The problem - to open the PDF file and entering the quantity first, the point subtotal updates but the total remains zero. Once any other field is changed or if the first field is changed a second time, the combined total updates. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for the help. the form can be downloaded here- http://www.vermontel.com/~KNSH/beta/knsh_order_form.PDF

It is a problem with the calculation of field order.

(In Acrobat X) Go to the form view edit and then click on other tasks - Edit

Fields - Set field calculation order...

Change the order so that subtotal is greater in total.

    Hello world

    I have the following scenario:

    We want that our sales staff to collect data of our clients through a PDF form.

    We do not like to combine with the PDF we print them or sending them by E-Mail.

    Therefore, there is a solution to fill a second PDF with data from the first.

    1. 1 PDF form with input fields

    2. 1 PDF form must be registered with the entry

    3. 2nd PDF form with a table filled with 1 form data

    4. 2nd PDF form displays the data under the graph with the abilty to edit these data to dynamically change table

    I don't want a hollow guide the whole scenario. I just first of all whether it is even possible to supply a PDF form with data in another form PDF.

    If it is possible please give me advice to know what to look for everything.

    If this isn't the case, I would like to read the recommendations for solutions easy possible to solve this task.

    You must understand that there is a big difference between the JS, you might be familiar with (the one used in web pages) and one used in PDF files.

    Although the basic syntax is the same most of the objects and methods are different, as PDF files are fundamentally different from web pages.

    You can find the reference to API JS Acrobat here: JavaScript for Acrobat | Adobe Developer Connection

    The form data can be copied by exporting it to a file FDF then import this file into the other PDF (assuming that the field names are the same), or it can be done using a script that uses global variables. The latter is more automatic, but may require adjustment of the parameters of the application or using a function of confidence (IE, a feature that is installed on the local computer instead of just in the file itself).

    The first is easier to implement and use, but requires the intervention of the user.

  • Determine if the form is a form PDF static or dynamic XML form programmatically

    Hello

    We have a software Macromedia Adobe form is used. With Adobe LiveCycle Designer, Staic form PDF and dynamic XML form can be created. We want to make the distinction between these two types. Is there available Adobe API which returns the type of PDF form; Static PDF or XML dynamic form?

    Thank you - Marie Laure

    Your script does not for me but when I used this modified following version he detected the form correctly (as long as the pdf file is saved in the designer using either save as static or save as dynamic)

    Dim app, pddoc
    Dim js

    Set app = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
    Set pddoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")

    If pddoc.Open("E:\Untitled1.pdf") Then
         Set js = pddoc.GetJSObject

         If Not js Is Nothing Then
              If js.dynamicXFAForm Then
                  MsgBox "It's a dynamic form!"
              Else
                  MsgBox "It's a static form!"
              End If
           End If
    End If

    Set app = Nothing
    Set pddoc = Nothing

    Regarding the 2nd approah, I don't have a sample that can be shared, but essentially, it is to use API of COS calls to open the stream XFA in PDF and determine what type of rendering.

    Alternatively, you can run javascript using the API / C code

    Hello

    I have a problem when I try to use the wizard of Action to convert 20 k pdf for post script... I work end if I use it on a small number of documents but acrobat crashes if I try to load the entire file.
    I'm using Acrobat XI on an imac OSX yosemite.

    Is it possible to make sure Acrobat opens only a single file at a time?

    Acrobat load only one file at a time. However, it is not very effective at all when it comes to batch and tend to get stuck or crash after several files of hundreds of my experience. So either do it in batches or are looking for a more robust tool for this task.

  • Present form PDF URL data without submit button

    Our customers use LiveCycle Designer to design PDF Forms. We have an ASP.Net Web form application, where they want us to embed the PDF form part of our data-entry form. The registration form has a button 'save'. And we want to save the entry of all entries in form (including the PDF form) in the click on the button Save.

    The client PC will adobe reader is installed, so I guess we can integrate the PDF form easily. I know form PDF can have the "submit" button and can send data (XML) to a URL. But the client does not want to place a button to send separate in the PDF file as the registration form has a Save"" button.

    Do you have any suggestions? If I post in the wrong place or a question already answered, I sincerely apologize and please guide me.

    You may be able to use the FormBridge to communicate between the PDF and HTML form. I've not used it before, so I can't provide details.

  • Order form does not update grand total calculation until I have indicate a number on the next line.

    I created a purchase order with a "quantity" column, a column of job description, a unit price column and a point $ column total. I've set the total column of $ point to calculate automatically once a quantity and unit price entered, and it works immediately once the unit price and quantity entered. But my grand total at the bottom of the total column $ is set to calculate all the lines of total $ point, but the total general don't not updated to reflect the $ total for a given line (e.g. line B) until I have begin to type a number for the next line (e.g. line C). So, I always end up having to create a line of extra reserved space with a quantity of 0, just to get my total general to update. Is there a way to fix this?

    It is most likely a problem with the calculation of field order. You must ensure that the total is calculated after row grand totals.

    This can be set in form editing mode, under the order of computation of Set field - other tasks.

  • InDesign, interactive form (PDF) & radio button appearance problem...

    I'm working on an interactive PDF using InDesignCC x 64 form, and I need to have "a selection only choice ', I use the radio button. But the customer want them look like checkboxes.

    No problem: I know how to customize but... But... BUT... Appeareances custom of the option button will not appear only in Acrobat (instead, I got the default appearance of the radio button circular).

    I checked build-in the option box of indesign library (from 010 to 024) and got the same result. The only way I've found is to re - edit my form with Acrobat, and then change the property in 'square' instead of circle (but still can't get my custom appeareance). But as my form contains several pages and a huge amount of people, not mentioning several upcoming release, I would prefer not having to change anything with Acrobat and stay inside Indesign.

    This isn't my first form and I'm not really a newbie, but on this one, I'm totally distraught...

    Hope that someone from the community will be able to help... (I got 7 of those to do 48 hours... Perfect timing )

  • Please HELP: forms PDF, creating an average formula for text?

    Hello

    I really hope that somone can help. I can't find all the answers to my questions on the internet, google etc.

    First time using Acrobat. IM quick enough for learning about compters however formulas that my boss has asked me to do I don't know if they are possible.

    Let's say that the box fields are called 'CheckBox 1' to "box 12". You must set their export value (under Properties - Options) to the value that they reprenset, and then you can use this script to calculate the average:

    var total = 0;

    var n = 0;

    for (var i = 1; i)<=12; i++)="">

    var v = this.getField("CheckBox"_+i).value;

    If (v! = 'Off') {}

    n ++ ;

    Total += Number (v);

    }

    }

    If (n == 0) {}

    Event.Value = "";
    } else event.value = total/n;

  • Bypass Validation required field required in dynamic form PDF

    I faced a difficult situation, where some fields are required, but we need allow the rule of validation (required) required bypass when you save the form and require to fill in these fields when you submit the form. In other words, to allow a flexible control when to enable / disable this feature.

    I wanted to put in place a flexible solution, and I will post my findings here. Appreciate your comments to improve.

    Steps to follow:

    1. mark the fields returned as required.

    2 specify 'Empty Message' as "this field can not be empty", or similar.

    3. specify the "Message of Script Validation" as 'this field must have a correct value before submitting', or similar.

    4. create a Global Variable-level form something like 'StopTotalValidation' and '1' as the default means default, turn off Validation for some cases.

    5. for areas that require this type of control, add the script (to be defined later) on the event to "validate":

    myTools.validateForRequiredField (the);

    6. create a Script object "myTools" and add the following script:

    function initStringFunc() { }

    Call this function to initialize Document

    String.prototype.Trim = function() {}

    return this.replace(/^\s+|\s+$/g,"");

    }

    String.prototype.LTrim = function() {}

    Return this.replace (/ ^-s+ /,' ");

    }

    String.prototype.RTrim = function() {}

    Return this.replace (/------s+$/,' ");

    }

    String.prototype.isEmpty = function() {}

    return (this == null) || "This.Trim ( == );"

    }

    }

    function setNodeProperty (, of theNode Dubien newValue) { }

    if (theNode [property] ! = newValue) {

    theNode [property] = newValue;

    }

    }

    function isNodePropertyEmpty (theNode, property) { }

        var result;

        if (theNode == null || theNode [theProperty] == null) {

            result = true;

        } else {

    result = theNode [theProperty] .isEmpty ();

        }

    returns the result;

    }

    function disableTotalValidation() { }

    StopTotalValidation.value = '1';

    }

    function enableTotalValidation() { }

    StopTotalValidation.value = '0';

    }

    function isTotalValidationOn() { }

    back StopTotalValidation.value ! = '1';

    }

    function isTotalValidationOff() { }

    back StopTotalValidation.value == '1';

    }

    const conRequired = '(mandatory)';

    function validateForRequiredField (theFld) { }

        //

    / / Bypass required field Validation when the overall Validation is OFF.

        //

        var result = false ;

        if (theFld) { }

    If (theFld.mandatory & & theFld.mandatory == "error") { }

    If (myTools.isNodePropertyEmpty (theFld, "rawValue")) { }

    myTools.setNodeProperty (theFld, "rawValue" conRequired);

                }

    If (isTotalValidationOn()) { }

    If (isNodePropertyEmpty (theFld, "rawValue") | ) theFld.rawValue.toLowerCase) == conRequired.toLowerCase ()) {

                        result = false;

                    } else {

                        result = true;

                    }

                } else {

                    result = true;

                }

            }

        } else {

            result = false;

        }

    returns the result;

    }

    7. now click on the button 'save' call the function "disableTotalValidation()" and click on the button 'submit' call the function "enableTotalValidation()".

    I just finished the implementation of the solution above, and according to my initial tests, it works fine.

    I'll post this to my Google Docs workspaceand provide updates their.

    T arek.

    Hi Niall,

    In fact, it is not that some require and some do not need validation...!

    The fact is that fields that are 'Required' rule ignored should only and only if the form is "saved" from the Save"" button.

    The 'Required' rule should be triggered only and only the user is clicking on the submit"" button.

    I think I can make use of your approach. The only problem I see now is how to mark the item of of these fields with the details the user of LiveCycle Desinger interface requires? This means, I have to call a script on the initialize event of these areas, which is more work and more confusing for other developers. As I use a non-standard feature of the interface user Desinger.

    In my case, I added a simple invocation of the event 'validate' to a common function for all areas that need to follow this simple rule "bypass validation required...". »

    But, I really like your solution. In fact, I understand what you're doing, but now the following questions are triggered:

    1. What is the meaning of three time equal (=) in the statement of JavaScript "if"?

    2 I need more information on the use of methods 'createNode()' and 'namedItem().

  • Create, distribute and receive responses on a "" form PDF

    Hello

    I apologize if it goes somewhere else, but I couldn't find a complete match to my question.  I am creating a form in Acrobat X, which can be sent on a Web site, downloaded up to 2000 people, filled and sent to me.  I recognize that there may be a better way to do this via some kind of direct web interface, but I am not able to do.  I want to 'collect responses' instead of printing each form and hand - enter the answers (the current method).  The people filling out the form will have probably some variation of drive.  I tried the form "distribute", and then he posted on an internal shared drive to test, but no one was able to modify the form except the typewriter tool.  (Strangely, I can actually fill out myself and collect my answers).  Can someone advise on what Miss me?  Thank you much in advance.

    According to me, the Adobe technical support person's wrong about this, but I'm tired of working for Adobe to inform users that their frequent misinformation given said licening agreement from Adobe. This isn't stabbed you, so please do not be offended.

    The problem using the distribution process is that it will configure the form to submit the whole PDF via e-mail, oppose simply form data, even if you have configured the form to only submit the form data. You can set up a form for presenting the data in the form, but you cannot then use the distribution process. To submit form data only, create a button, give a mouse action upward to "Submit a form" and select FDF or XFDF format 'export '. Use a type mailto URL to specify the e-mail address of the recipient, making sure to keep all lowercase and no space. You can then compile the FDF (or XFDF) files from users, as explained above.

    Issues with email, this Bill mentioned, if it does not work for a user, they will have the option to save the file on their system and by manually attaching it to an e-mail. A more reliable approach is to submit to a web server, but then you must have a server script that processes applications. This requires an expertise, but it is much more reliable than e-mail and can be easily secured, unlike the email.
