  OK, you can still be installed. Check the start (Windows) menu or LaunchPad (Mac). If this isn't the case, you will need to reinstall with the media and the original serial number.

  Go to: Mac/HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins

  Trash the files AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

  Empty the trash

  Restart Safari. You can now download the PDFs intact.

  I have problems with a Linux distro installed in my version of Windows 7 VmWare 7.1.3 build 3206955 and start watching to see if I had the latest version of VmWare. When I click on search upgrades of VmWare, I get "No update available", then a message to get the 12 workstation. I can't find a link to a free version more. What I see is a paid version of Workstation Player 12 if a link to FAQ mentions free for home use.

  I had to upgrade to this version?

  It will be free for me (home use)?

  It will be compatible with my ONE and ONLY Kubuntu 14.04 distro? (I've read some complaints on this forum of not being able to load the old installs after upgrade)

  Are there benefits to upgrade (if it's free)?

  VMWare Workstation has two different flavors:

  -Workstation 'Pro '.

  -Workstation 'Player '.

  Both can do the same, and both are paid ESSENTIALLY software...

  But as "Pro Workstation" has more advanced features (that you may never) it is more expensive than "Workstation Player".

  And VMWare said explicitly that the use of VMWare Workstation Player is FREE if you use it for commercial purposes.

  Of course, it then comes between you and your conscience :-)

  Workstation Player installation you are prompted for a serial number, but can decide to leave this field empty by saying that you will use for a commercial use.

  I think all versions of Workstation are equal performance wise. They differ only features wise.

  As I have not used Workstation before a few weeks, I can't tell if you get all the benefits if you are upgrading an earlier version.

  I have been using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.12) for awhile now, and only by chance did know that there is a newer version of the Adobe Reader software, I see now called Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (2015.008.20082). As a "passionate" for years, I'm so used to be notified, almost too often, by the software that there is a newer version of the software that I use. I found it just strange that this time I was never notified of a newer version (which is more recent than XI, because of course, I have the latest version of XI). Especially being the standard document for PDF files and such a prominent free program, I was just surprised not knowing a new (and I imagine) better version; one that should probably be updated while I'm updating when the sharing/viewing PDF files with others.

  I'll uninstall Adobe Reader XI and try the new Adobe Acrobat Reader DC now... now that I know it exists!

  I cleans malware and corrupted my mother's computer files.  The operating system is Windows Vista.  There were two copies of the player installed on this machine, 8.1.2 version and some of the XI reader, who does not appear compatible with the system Vista from the information here on the site of Adobe.  Both versions were corrupted and I couldn't fix player XI, but he did uninstall.  Reader 8 is functional, but won't uninstall or update.  I tried from the Adobe Reader X of loading site but its installer is facing problems similar to those of the uninstaller for the version 8 utility, and it will not be installed.
