Full-size Lightroom exports less pixels (half)

Hi, I've been using Lightroom 5 / 5.5 / 5.6 on a Mac for about half a year and the feeling, I get the hang of doing what I want out of it.

However, I have noticed and deliver today which has lost me - when I export images (using file > export individual images), some exports with the same number of pixels as Lightroom shows have when I hover over them in the library or check in the metadata Panel, but some export with approximately but not exactly half the number of horizontal and vertical pixels.

I checked, double checked etc that the export dialog is not ' resize according to "checked and the PPI is what seems to be the default value of 240.

The export file settings are jpg and 100 for the quality.

At first I thought it was something to with images only, i.e. not cropped cropped images seem to export with the same number of pixels but cropped those have about half the number of the library, but I exported just a photo not cropped and it was smaller too - it seems to be random, but somehow linked to specific photos (so the same picture is still ok or is reduced).

Any suggestions on where I could go wrong or what I need to check are welcome.

Rob

Are the images of problem those where you have created intelligent insights and then disconnected the disk with the original image?

  • Lightroom export: Size of small files

    Evening,

    I recently started using Lightroom after years of using Photoshop. One thing that I find difficult to understand, export.

    After editing just one portrait as my first practice in Lightroom, I saved the file as 100% quality and JPEG. This resulted in a tiny 872 kb file size. Confused, I have reproduced the simple in Photoshop, saved as a full quality JPEG editing process and this resulted in a file size of 9 MB.

    Side by side, expanded, I see no difference in quality. I noticed that the recorded image Lightroom has 240 dpi and Photoshop image 72 dpi.

    Then, I went back to Lightroom and saved the same image as. TIF, resulting in a file size of 107 MB with no visible improvement in quality.

    Lightroom is known for tiny file sizes? I'm doing something wrong? I do not understand why, how and what is happening with the sizes of export and file in Lightroom. I'd like an explanation.

    Looks like you have checked resize it to fit, or checked the limit of the file size to... in the Lightroom export dialog.

    Other than that, the file size is not a good indicator of the quality of the image - pixel dimensions are.

    PPI is also devoid of meaning and irrelevant unless you want to print the image. PPI is metadata used by printer drivers to calculate the physical dimensions of the impression.

    TIFF files are much larger than the jpg file size because they are uncompressed or use lossless compression, which is much less efficient than the jpg (lossy) compression. TIFF files can also be 16 - bit, which are twice the size of 8-bit files.

  • How to export a full size, full resolution Photos photo?

    Background:

    I am a very literate Mac user, but have NEVER used iPhotos or Photos - initially because I didn't like how they seized my photos and hid in a place where it took an expert user to show me where they were.

    Meanwhile, my cousin, who is 77, has all his pictures in Photos.  They were originally in iPhoto, but after that its database has become corrupted and all the photos that have been "disappeared": she spent several hundred $$ to Apple store for them to create a new database and search and restore all the pictures, (of course all its manifestations and albums "disappeared" in the process) she ended up with 6 or 7 duplicates of many of his photos and told to go home and remove duplicates that she tried to fol (its 3000 original photos became 15 000 pictures after the "repair")

    During this time, she would be now as export a couple of full-size, full resolution photos on his desk so that she can download them to print.  Could someone guide me please for a quick and simple tutorial on how to achieve?  I may go beyond helping him do this tomorrow and could probably figure it out - but it would be great if a kind person could tell me how to do this for her.

    Thank you and happy holidays to you all.

    Hi Pariseau,

    That's what I do, there are probably other ways.

    (1) in the Photos, click on the image to select it, click the 'invisible' box below and type a recognizable title:

    (2) press ENTER, leave the selected image and pull down the file menu:

    (3) choose export > export then 1 Photo... (or to the Unmodified Original export... If you have changed the original and that you want to export an unedited version.)

    You will get this window:

    You can switch between different file formats, but by selecting a JPEG quality and size will give you the biggest and least file compressed.

    Under file naming, choose use title so that your exported file will have the name you gave it in step 1. Click Export.

    (4) you will then get a dialog box that allows you to choose the folder in which you want to export to, but crucially (and wrongly IMHO) does not allow you to name the file at this stage:

    But you are good to go because you gave the image of a title in step 1, then choose a folder (office here) and go ahead and click Export.

    This is where your photo will end up, and it should be the same size as the original:

    Hope this helps, happy holidays to you too.

  • Why many cinema screens have half-a-block of pine, to plug into the full-size DVI connector?

    Why have the many Cinema Display (especially the 2005-20-inch model) half-a-block of pine, to plug into the DVI-connector socket full large?

    The other half-a-block of pines just doesn't seem to be there?

    DVI can be single-link or dual-link.  Resolution higher than 1020 x 1200 need dual-link.

    Sometimes simple link devices and cables use dual-link connectors, but with no wires connected to the pins double link, if you can not tell if something is dual-link just by looking at the connector.

  • Lightroom 6: can I saw a preset in the picture window full size (rather than the browser) without selecting it?

    When I hover over a preset, I can get a preview in the browser window, but I prefer to see it full size without actually select it (because I can't cancel it whenever I don't like the preset)

    Hi richstanjohn,

    I tried to do the same thing at my end, and it is not possible. If you do not want all the time, then just move your mouse over the presets and look at the image in the browser.

  • iPhoto - JPEG with Lightroom export files

    Dear community,

    I take my Photos in RAW format and use Adobe Lightroom for workflow management and the work of any photo. As a result, I create two sets of JPEG files: the full-size images are stored on my file server, while the reduced size JPEGs (approx. 1200 x 1600) I keep on my MacBook Pro. Date & time of the images exported JPEG is different to the actual hours when they were taken, I get a problem during their import in iPhoto because iPhoto 'think' that have all been taken recently. This creates a huge mess in iPhoto. I'm talking about 17,000 photos taken between 1999-2015. Given that I exported the entire stack at the same time, iPhoto shows them as taken today after importation. Photos are all stored in an appropriate folder structure (event/year).

    Now my question: How can I teach iPhoto to use the structure of folders to sort the photos in the right way? As I have said, without the pictures in chronological order, they are useless. And so is iPhoto. Why do they want to do? Simple answer, I would like to share my photos on my Apple devices and for this, iPhoto would be just perfect.

    Can someone help me with this or is that someone has a better idea for the RAW-> Lightroom-> export-> stream Jpeg iPhoto work?

    Thank you very much!

    Hans

    Date & time of the images exported JPEG is different to the actual hours when they were taken, I get a problem during their import in iPhoto because iPhoto 'think' that have all been taken recently

    It's down to how you export from Lightroom. iPhoto Gets the date and time of the photo Exif metadata and uses only the data of the file if it is missing. Check your LR export procedures to write Exif data in the exported files.

    So, this is the solution to your problem.

  • Lightroom - exported too small jpg

    When exporting my images raw in Lightroom I convert them to DNG, which are about 28 000 Ko.  When I export my images in jpg, they are usually only about 4-5 MB is enough but sometimes I need a larger jpg. How can I control / increase the size of the exported jpg images.  I understand that jpg is compressed, but it's a huge compression.

    Help, please

    Like I said for most of my work is enough, but I wish I had more large file size

    Lol you want a larger size of the image, not a larger file. The size of the image, in pixels or megapixels, determines if you can make enlargements or not, and what will be the quality of these extensions (as well as setting the quality slider). The size of the file is completely and totally irrelevant to the issue of can make you enlargements and does not determine the quality of the image or the quality of any enlargements. To get a larger size image, you can export the photo in Lightroom by enlarging the image in the section of resizing the Image of the Lightroom export dialog box.

    I do not remember how to change the size of the page, so when I opened a new page it still load at half a page instead of full size. I want the page to always load in full size

    Hi Qsilver33,

    To clarify,

    Are you referring to the web page of the internet explore?

    Windows remembers the way a page the last time.

    Open internet explorer, blow it up, and then close. Now, reopen internet explore to see if it worked.

    Same steps are applicable for the folders on the computer.

    Cannot recover Windows Paint up to full size, no matter what I try. All I get is a picture of size 1/4 in the upper right after save as jpeg. on the desktop. I get full picture in paint, but then after the backup down it goes. I increased the pixels, the size, everything. I can get more SMALL, but not the size. It was working fine, but then down it went.

  • Bed full size

    Hello

    What I'm doing:

    I'm making some functions of distance of an alpha channel.

    To do this, I run a transformation of distance on the alpha channel.

    The problem:

    When the publication size is smaller that the size of the layer, after effects should decide in step preRender of rendering intelligent, giving me an application for entry of: size composition + pixels by more than 20%.

    The max_result_rect is the size of the layer... very well.

    But when I do my pixels of the layer of smartrender Fund, I get only part of the input layer is equivalent to size composition + pixels by more than 20%.

    ERR (extraP-> cb-> checkout_layer_pixels (in_data-> effect_ref, IN_LAYER, & input_worldP));

    This can be quite... but not always, according to my function of distance I might have need of the COMPLETE layer.

    Then I read the SDK guide, and it says that I should specify the region that I need in the rendering at the prerender stage.

    Then I tried something like:

    static PF_Err

    PreRender)

    PF_InData * in_dataP,.

    PF_OutData * out_dataP,.

    PF_PreRenderExtra * extraP) {}

    PF_Err err = PF_Err_NONE;

    PF_RenderRequest req is extraP-> input-> output_request;.

    PF_CheckoutResult in_result;

    AEGP_SuiteHandler suites (in_dataP-> pica_basicP);

    TODO: optimize to make data visible + threshold

    PF_LRect fullLayer = {0, 0, in_dataP-> width, in_dataP-> height};

    UnionLRect (& fullLayer, & req.rect);

    ERR (extraP-> cb-> checkout_layer (in_dataP-> effect_ref,

    IN_LAYER,

    IN_LAYER,

    & req,

    in_dataP-> current_time,

    in_dataP-> time_step,

    in_dataP-> time_scale,

    (& in_result));

    UnionLRect (& in_result.result_rect, & extraP-> output-> result_rect);

    UnionLRect (& in_result.max_result_rect, & extraP-> output-> max_result_rect);

    return err;

    }

    Then I get an error in the execution, saying that output rect cannot be larger than the input-> output_request...

    How am I supposed to tell After effects his approximation of which pixels I need in the layer entry is NOT big enough?

    It seems obvious to do... but I tried to change the Rect... nothing has worked to give me after extraction of the layer full-size, I need...

    If anyone can point out my error, I'd be happy

    I finally found how to achieve what I wanted. Simply set the flag in the exit request to PF_RenderOutputFlag_RETURNS_EXTRA_PIXELS.

    PreRender)

  • How to create ePUB with full-size images/pages to adjust according to the device?

    Friendly greetings,

    I tried, for almost two months, to convert/create my 7 books that are printed in electronic books; with the first edition had to be Nook, with Kindle on the list. Unfortunately, I am still working on just get the first one published! And I could really use any assistance to get this figured out. My intention was to publish several weeks ago... now my despair must publish before the weather gets too hot and the children are outdoors most of the time... or at least not later than Easter. (: 0)

    First of all, my books are books of photo/poetry for children of all ages. They were all designed in Photoshop, where I also created images full size for the first eBook. I received the specifications of B & N for the different devices of Nook. In the assumption that it would be better to create the largest files, thus allowing smaller size devices to fit the page accordingly to fit and the most important would not encumber a smaller image, I size my pages to 1280px x 1920px at 72 dpi. (now I hear 150 is standard?)

    My text is included in the image that design is an image = a single page. I've included a version only the full text of the poem/story at the end for those who want to set the text or use a voice reader. I obviously all original, but for the publication they were all saved as jpg.

    After a fight and a lot of frustration, I managed to finish the manuscript for Barnes and Noble Nook press Manuscript Editor. My internet is molasses and so much of this has been done in the wee hours of the morning when the rest of the time zone is asleep. I had only a page with a problem, an additional empty line/space was irreparable. I published and it had been completely sloppy to be published, although the preview looked a-okay. Only on the upper left of each image/page 1/6 was visible in the corner of my laptop to PC or Nook of my Tablet Android App. So I desperately waited another 10 hours, hoping that no one would buy my book Meanwhile, so he could be removed from the sale.

    I downloaded a demo of InDesign CC, and after two weeks of not even being able to create a new single document for some reason any twisted, I bought a month membership. So far, I am not entirely convinced of this creative Cloud malarkey together, as much... that, like I said my internet is slow... it took me nearly 20 hours just to download the software. (It is really difficult to provide records, seriously?) After a cat and a phone call that I can, in theory, now use InDesign.

    I created a new Document for Digital Publishing to the above specifications (1280 x 1920 px). I did rectangle the size of the page placeholders and place one image per page. This usually inserted the image to 50% and I have to select 100%, and then move them if necessary to place.

    So my first question is: is it possible to place an image at 100% without having to do this step further resizing? Or is there another way to place the image in the size of the page without any of these other measures that would be too good.

    Well, after placing several pages/images I have also selected each and went to Options of Export Object and checking the rasterization of Custom and "resize to text Flow.  I then exported ePUB trial to see how it would look. On the PC and tablet in landscape mode it was far better than the other, but about oh 1/3 from the bottom of each page was cut. On the Tablet, I turned to portrait and voila full page. Woohoo! But alas, I don't want to limit it.

    is there something I am doing wrong? Did I miss a step or two somewhere so that the complete picture should appear on the page? I feel like I'm about to turn the page on this thing, but he's stuck in the one after that.

    I would greatly appreciate any insight, advice, help anyone can offer. I ran the gauntlet of Barnes and Noble... cough, cough... support and apparently I ask questions that cannot respond to any press corner rep and the forums out there have no idea about InDesign. It's almost like with all fantastic beautiful screens out there today nobody wants to picture books! How National Geographic?

    Thank you very kindly.

    In case it is necessary: my laptop using Window 7 64 bit Pro, InDesign CC is 64-bit and my 10.1 Android tablet. I can view the EPUB files in the corners for PC and Nook for Android. I also have a Kindle, LumiRead and various other applications on the tablet. I also have someone get a glimpse of the finished epub, if needed, on a Mac, iPad, or Android phone... even if I don't have not one of these. Don't know who has a corner I can look good. Thanks again.

    Q: is it possible to place an image at 100% without having to do this step further resizing?

    Here I think you want your images to fit within size full page automatically. For this, you can try the following steps:

    1. create a new doc

    2. menu Goto object, and then choose image mount options

    3. Select adjust automatically and fitting drowdown, select "adjust the content to the frame. See the screenshot below:

    After that, your images should adjust automatically in full page placeholder images. Please let me know if this does not work or if the problem you are experiencing is different and I did not understand your problem correctly.

    Kind regards

    A key panel full size can be used with I pad pro?

    Only if the keyboard is full-size using Bluetooth connectivity.

    I've not seen any portable keyboards, full length using Bluetooth, however.

    Most Bluetooth keyboards for tablets are made compact to be more ergonomicaaly designed with the size of the tablet.

    If you found or will find a full-size, keyboard full length that works with Bluetooth for iDevices and iPads, so this should work.

    Hi, I have a few problems on my DVD player after you install the windows media player 11.

    Can someone show me how to fix tat?

    Hello

    you have a codec pack and/or a DVD player separated installed on your system? If not, then try, because play DVD´s with MediaPlayer 11 is not very comfortable and
    you encounter errors, for example you have.

    I suggest you: download a codec pack (for example K-lite or something: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm) install it and maybe try to use another dvd as "Media Player Classic" player that plays almost every videofile/DVD/etc. that exist.

  • Want to buy the remote control full size for Qosmio X 500-116

    Hiya,

    I am looking to buy a full-size remote for my Qosmio (little disappointed he did not come with one).

    First question is my machine not come with a remote control means that my machine will not work with a remote control? (the manual says that some machines come with them and others do not)

    I have looked on the toshiba site and did some research online, but nothing yet.

    If someone can point me in the right direction, I would be grateful

    THX

    Bren

    PS - It's the full-size remote, I am after not the slim size it (both are listed in the manual)

    Hello Bren

    In my opinion the situation is clearer:

    Some models are delivered with and without remote control. For remote control, you need equipment that send the signal (remote control you have in hand) and the device receiving the signal.
    Receiving so-called is built-in the laptop.
    If your laptop comes without remote control, I presume that he doesn t also have receiver inside.

    Following this logic, I don't think that your laptop works with remote but I do not understand what kind of remote you are writing about.

    I can only imagine that third part product with external remoter that can be connected to your Qosmio as USB device, you can buy. I'm sure that Logitech has these products in order to check a little Logitech page to see what they have to offer for multimedia application.

    Good luck.
