  Well, the G6 is a series of many models. It depends on how you open it. People can swap/add more RAM, can swap HDD so I think you can open (carefully). The following paper shows you how (most numerous videos you already know):

  HP Support Assistant continues to work after expiration of the warranty. You will no longer updates after awhile because HP does not release updated constantly, but other functions will work.

• HP Envy 15 - AE101NX: new laptop but the warranty expired watch period

  Hi all

  I bought my new laptop HP Envy AE101NX yesterday (May 25, 2016).

  However, when I open Microsoft application center HP support and recovery applications, where we see the period of warranty information is to show incorrect information.

  Store supervisor informed me that it is in the warranty period of 2 years.

  Information is showin in these applications is 6 months and that too

  Start date: XX/08/2015

  End date: XX/02/2016.

  This Feb-2016 has already passed.

  I could not understand how the warranty has already expired, even if it's 6 months for some reason.

  Can someone please advise how to solve this problem?

• Reinstallation of Windows 7 with OEM license with an OEM license and the manufacturer's warranty expired

  My hard drive starts to die, if I want to backup all my data and be ready in case it fails. One of the things on my list of verification is to ensure that I can reinstall Windows 7 if need be.

  I don't have in my possession a Windows reinstallation disk, so I want to create a USB bootable for windows 7. The link to the .isos DIgital River that I use to create my bootable USB key doesn't work for users with OEM licenses. Very annoying, but I can legally get a Dell reinstall drive instead. But Dell wouldn't send me reinstallation disks because my warranty with Dell expired.

  The result of this is that if your a manufacturer guarantee expired, you can no longer reinstall windows on the same computer!

  Dell says it is responsible for providing the relevant recovery media, including Windows used to do with the Digital River .isos, but who no longer work for people with Microsoft's Windows 7 OEM license. Microsoft says that it is the responsibility of Dell to provide its customers with the recovery media (disks to reinstall windows) in the first place. Personally, I'm not interested in the blame game - I just want to have access to a recovery media so I have the option of legally re - install windows 7 in the future with my OEM license.

  Make a USB (older than 2012 systems) recovery or recovery external hard drive (more recent than 2012 systems):

  Boot from it to the new hard drive and use it to reinstall. Recovery media is using earlier versions may not work on the new disks.

  I received a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft who advised the than expiration of the warranty of the software from my computer? They needed to help me fix my computer and asked for my id of the computer.   I gave them my ID, so they could remote access to my computer.  This has proved to be a case of sale or scam.  Now I feel my computer is compromised.  What can I do to change my id and to prevent hackers or viruses etc. ?  Hope someone can help.   There is no such thing as security software with Windows.

  Remote access is possible only when you allow a connection. Do a full virus scan of your PC and scan with MalwareBytes and Microsoft Security Scanner

• The Microsoft warranty expires

  My computer is so slow and we seem to be unable to enter into anything without the computer freezes and today I got a call from the India saying they have something to do with Microsoft and because the Microsoft warranty has expired whenever connect us to internet infection comes in the computer and I have to re - activate the warranty that would cost me money.  They talked me through something on the computer that showed 2035 red error and triangles of yellow signs, they me connected to their technician who took my computer to clear these errors, but then I became suspicious and I turned off the internet after that my son advised me.  They then called back me and I told them what I had done, and they said they would send a report through Microsoft.  They wanted to charge me to re - activate the Microsoft warranty and I said, I would like to buy a new computer rather than pay money on the internet because I didn't know if it was a scam or not, but he said, even if I bought a new computer I would still have to pay for re - activate the warranty.  Is this true?  Help

  It's a scam.  I'm glad you don't fall for it.  All other calls suggest that tell you the caller you brought calls to the police who should dissuade continue to harass you.

• Faulty repairs warranty expired

  On April 8, a technician came to me to repair my Alienware Laptop, 17. The issue was that the laptop wouldn't sometimes load.

  Dear Sir, my model is hp pavilion 1318ax. I use windows 7. battery of my laptop fell down to a very weak State, it is not even give an autonomy of 15 minutes. Shows an error message everytime I turn on my laptop on battery. My warranty expired online, but I bought my laptop in December 2012, and I according to my purchase date, I still have my guarantee.

  Where are you located? You need to contact HP technical support. They are the guarantee of an expected purchase date according to when it left the factory, but the actual warranty is 12 months from the purchase at retail (probably). So if you have a warranty issue and can prove the date of purchase the warranty date can be adjusted. But not by us. We is not HP itself a few end users who answer questions. Contact HP.

  I am in year 2 to have a Pavilion dv6, expiration of the 1 year warranty, but I have a 2nd year with the credit card with which I bought the laptop. They ask the official warranty. Anyone know how I can find the official warranty. I guess it would be in PDF format. Interestingly, I kept the documents with the initial purchase and a 'answers at your fingertips' and "Phone numbers in the world" are inserted, but no guarantee official.
