G62 - 154 ca memory capacity

I'm looking in upgrading my RAM of the supplied stock.

I see other forums that this model integrated 4 GB (2 x 2) DDR3 1066 mHz.

If I bought 2 x 4 GB DDR3 1333 mHz RAM, would it be compatible or if it would crash the system?

Hello

This may not work. Please use the information on page 1-1 on the following manual, use only 1 066 MHz.

  • What metrics to use for memory capacity planning? Active or consumed (in request or use vROPS)

    Hey all,.

I was wondering once more what metrics to use for memory capacity planning. Since the information from different sources (for example your ESXi host needs more RAM to Iwan Rahabok or VMworld 2012: Session VSP1729 - virtualized memory understanding performance management - Eric Sloof - NTPRO.NL Kit Colbert) pointing all assets (vROPS request), I expect that when we have high memory consumption / use in vCenter there will be no balloon / compression / permutation.

Also the metric active / request should not be used for all workloads (e.g. Java / DB), why is - this? I have not found the reason of this anywhere, only the fact.

Other sources such as Mark Achtemichuk suggests using consumed/use, which is the opposite (Understanding Active Memory - VMware vSphere Blog - Articles VMware vSphere).

So I thought I'll with active / demand as metric and ignoring the warnings inside of vCenter.

But the last time we have fixed half of our group, we had consumed/high memory usage and the vCenter began to inflate, compress, and finally to Exchange. Not a lot but I had not expected that, because memory active was only a small percentage of consumed.

Can someone explain to me why this happened and who is right on this issue.

    Kind regards

    jengl

jengl I don't know if you asked the wrong question, or I give the wrong answer :-)

It is always good to attach screenshots, background to the issues, and what exactly you are trying to solve.

    You wrote:

    So to summarize:

-ESXi uses consume to decide when to start the recovery techniques of memory RAM

-To rightsize VMs for RAM, you must use the counter inside the BONE, not active

-If you do not want to commit too much RAM and have a lot of the balloon you should right-size your virtual machines or extend the RAM / buy additional servers

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My answer: you are right. If you do not have access to the guest operating system, then Active VM and VM consumed are better guess. Better than nothing :-)

Sizing sizing of VM and ESXi are 2 different things (2 use cases) different. Please don't mix up the as soon as they are confusing. Do not try to resize the virtual machine when you are sizing the ESXi, unless you have a control total on them.

    You wrote:

The question for me is: how many cache (standby under Windows) inside the VM is really necessary for the virtual machine to get the best performance without wasting resources. Perhaps this issue can be resolved only by tests or do you know another option?

My answer: it's a different topic brother :-) It is different, because it is within a guest operating system (Windows in this case) and is no longer at the level of the ESXi. Suggest that post you another, possibly under Windows or vSphere too :-)

  • Satellite A100-811 - maximum memory capacity

I have an old A100-811 Satellite with Windows XP SP3. It has 1 GB of memory (2 x 512). I want to improve the memory. What should I do?

    1. put another memory of 2 GB so the total is 2.5 GB (will I get in trouble for using two types of 512 MB and 2 GB memory?)

    2 put 2 x 1 GB total 2 GB (for better styling?)

    3. put 2 x 2 GB. But will I have the 4 GB memory full or only 3 GB because of the limitations of memory Win Xp?

Do I need a BIOS update for this?

Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi skga100,

The maximum capacity of RAM in Satellite A100-811 is 4 GB. This means that you can install 2 GB in each slot.

Usually for Windows XP 2 GB is enough but I want to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, you should think about 3 or 4 GB

In your case, I would buy a 2GB memory module. If you are on the safe side.
Why? If you want to install Vista or Windows 7 later, you can buy a second memory module and keep your 2 GB module. Who s the easiest way. :)

And no, upgrading the BIOS is not necessary.

    Hello

There is only 1 slot for the upgrade, supports up to 8 GB of RAM. I guess that your laptop came with 4 GB of RAM, so right which replaces with 8 GB, is that you try?

    Supported configuration:

Support of the DDR3L-1600-MHz single channel

    Single channel support DDR3L 1 333 MHz (DDR3-1600 downgrade of DDR3-1333)

    This is theuser manual.

    Go through the Page 65,

    It is said:

You have to remove the battery, and then remove the following:

    ● Keyboard

    Top cover ●

    ● WLAN module

    ● System Board

So, it's not an easily accessible location,

I suggest you Contact HPfor the upgrade, if you're not technically used to this.

    Thank you

    Hi FranzBB,

Class memory box or MemoryStats. Maybe you can get something.

Or you can use the FileConnection class. There totalSize() I think.

  • Maximum memory capacity

    Hello

I have a ThinkPad x121e (from memory) that I love.

However, it has a memory limit of 8 GB.

I need of more memory so that I can host Virtual Machines to do the work of development - I was wondering what made current ThinkPad models supported 16 GB of RAM (not necessarily out of the box, but by buying Crucial or similar).

I searched and found a page, but it was not aware:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-55644

That is to say. It does not show the X carbon 1 or Yoga (I know that's not thinkpad) models

Basically, I'm after something similar to what I have with improvements (a little bigger would be nice but not too big - say max 14 ") - a good autonomy, can have windows 8.1, a touch screen and can get an SSD (still happy to upgrade via crucial or any other third party) and can support 16 GB of RAM.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Michael.

  • How to check the memory capacity?

    Hello

I bought T61, 6465CTO, with 4 GB memory and Vista home premium but I don't see that 2.99 GB of my ownership of the computer. Can any body tell me how can I check my memory?

    Welcome to the forum!

Good news: there is nothing wrong with your computer or memory.

Bad news: Vista Home is a 32-bit operating system that will never be able to 'see' more than 3 GB of RAM. You need a 64 bit OS to use 4 GB of RAM or more.

    I hope this helps.

I try to send a 530 MB video file to a friend, and the computer says memory is insufficient. Can someone tell me how to increase the amount of memory for my emals?

Email size is based on your email provider and also the supplier of recipients. Most do not allow to send him something that big.

    Mine is 2 MB max.

I use Skydrive and download files and serve as a link to your friend.

  • memory capacity

I have a virtual machine. now, I want to learn it. I have to add more memory on this virtual machine, or should I remove 1 GB or 2 GB of memory to the virtual machine. Please can you tell it. what I can do. I did not understand this problem.

Where I can see. which chapter or tab? Help, please

With your memory so low demand and stress on the virtual machine is null, it is obvious that the virtual machine in question who has 12 GB of RAM is not using a big part of it on a regular basis.

Assuming that you are accounting for the spikes in demand for memory, the server can probably be reduced a little.  If the virtual machine does not real reading and written in physical memory, then there is no need of it.

That being said, if there is like java or SQL processes that have a certain amount allotted to them, then you would like to discuss with the team that supports the application before reducing the memory.

I would like to start comparing what reports the OS as the memory used compared to the hypervisor and take it from there.

  • Reporting based on memory capacity

    Hello world

I am trying to write a script based on very specific requirements of management that will measure the ability of multiple clusters based on memory.

The model that gave me was a CSV file that looks like this:

UsedMemGB MaxMemGB AvailableMemGB CurrentVMs AvgMemGB(per VM) MaxVMs(based on the average) AvailVMs

    CLUSTER1

    Cluster2

    Cluster3

    Total general

My current obstacle is that management wants to allocated memory, not memory in use which, to my knowledge, is what MemoryUsageMB reflects. It is not logical for me to go further than the field of AvgMemGB will depend on the total amount allocated memory

Here's what I have so far:

    Game-PowerCLIConfiguration - multiple DefaultVIServerMode - confirm: $true | Out-Null

    $vcenters = @)

    "vCenter1,"

    "vCenter2,"

    SE connect-VIServer-Server $vcenters - user < username > - < password >

    {foreach ($cluster Get-cluster)

    $esx = $cluster | Get-VMHost

    $ds = get-Datastore - VMHost $esx | where {$_.} Type - eq "VMFS"}

  • Dell XPS 410 memory capacity

    Hello

I have a XPS 410 aging badly need of an overhaul.  It is a great machine that I have maintained quite well for the past nine years.  Currently, it has 3 GB of RAM installed (1 x 2 GB and 512 MB x 2), but I wanted to start with the RAM upgrade.

The motherboard has been replaced 2 years ago, and the person who repaired told me that it would be useful to simply upgrade of components if I have the skill.  When it was sold in 2005/2006 he says he has a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but I've seen many posts (which are a few years, btw) it could contain 8 GB (4x2Go RAM modules.  I was wondering if it can be improved to 12 GB (4 x 2 + 2 x 2) or even 16 GB also (4 x 4 GB).  I guess it comes down to, you can install a 4 GB RAM module? or is too high to 2 GB?

Intend to do a small upgrade RAM, adding SSD or readers, another small upgrade RAM, replacement of processors and perhaps eventually adding a map interface SATA if it would be beneficial.  In the end, the only original thing to this device would be the card reader, network card and the case!  Thank you for any advice you can give me.

You can not go to 16 gig.  8 GB is possible but only with compatible non buffered non ecc non registered Ram of LOW density.   DDR2 is dead or missing since the retail channel.  If you get a Precision T3500 opportunity that uses DDR3, you're more likely to keep it for a few years.  The max ram is the same precision 380 or XPS400.  You have 4 slots, 4 x 2 gig is possible as well as 4 x 1 gig.  You can find a T3400 precision with 4 GB or more of ram is the same as the cost of 8 GB of ram only.

  • problems of memory capacity!

Can I use the external library FCPX after be installed on a hard drive? because it takes about 400 GB of memoriaou have discovered.

    work?

Yes, you can "move" your library to another drive if you are running low on free space on your system drive.

You could also generally recover considerable spacer by deleting computer-generated files like make media and files transcoded. Within the CPF, which is done in on the file menu.

If you decide you want to move the library, after return and tell us where the media files are are - they live in the library (managed media) or in an external location. In addition, if you do not move the library, it will be copied. Open the library to go to the new location and test its projects before trashing the original library.
