  being a newbie on VMWARE ESXi 4, I use the software on a DELL R610 server with 1 INTEL XEON X 5650 processor and 24 GB of RAM (6 x 4 GB).

  This system 4 servers and 4 offices is hosted.

  To improve performance, I want to add more memory 36 GB (3 x 4 + 3 x 8) and I think a second Xeon processor.

  A second processor usage is possible with ESXi 4?

  However you cannot change the lock mode in this dialog box as this has been moved in the config.xml file - adfc. When you open the configuration dialog box and click on the "jbo.locking.mode" you shuold see Help message reported.
  So, open the adfc - config.xml and in the editor of this file properties, you can change the locking mode tab "Business Components.

  2 x Dell PowerEdge R510 (ESXi via USB)

  1 x Dell PowerEdge 2850 (vCenter)

  Current options:

  (1) use 4u2 ESXi and vCenter 4u2 directly from the VMware site.

  (2) use ESXi 4u1 (Dell customized) and 4u2 from VMware sitevCenter. (the ESXi Dell 4u2 is not available)

  (3) use ESXi 4u1 (Dell custom) Dell site and 4u2 from VMware sitevCenter.

  (4) another idea?

  The version of Dell has the right ICD (but the vanilla version works as well) and the ready to run Dell OpenManage.

  You can add this tool later or boot from the Dell U1 version and use VMware Update Manager to upgrade to the version of U2.
