Help understanding image size

I'm new to Photoshop Elements and would appreciate that I could get help or be headed in the direction where to get help.

The questions I have are have to do with the size of the Photo.

1. when someone sends me a picture as an attachment to an e-mail, the photo is so great sometimes that, in my view, that I need instructors who is several times bigger that I must be able to see.  I don't think it's something on my end, but their.  They have can do so that the image is a normal size when I received it?  Normal size, which means 4 by 6, 5 7-8 by 10.

2. I am learning how to make ebook covers and dvd.  When I put them an image in photoshop elements, the pictures that I took are larger than the dvd cover or ebook.  In case the image worked, but he was part of the image that went beyond the size of the image.  When you print, left just ignored this isn't a problem?

3. in one case, the image was great for work.  What would be the best way to make the image smaller?  Can I do this before you import it into the project, or can do in the draft?

4. should I use photoshop to resize the image, or I should use something else?

5. If I buy an image from a photo website, and I don't know exactly how I will crop in end-use, [and I saw more the image more they cost] I have to buy the bigger picture I think I could use and then crops according to the needs?  In order to avoid buying small and then realizing that I needed the next size.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you

#1: to see the whole picture in PSE, use the view... To adapt to the screen (or press the CTRL + keys to 0).  You can tell your correspondent to resize the image at 8 x 10 (or other) before they emailed to you.

#2: basically, the unused portion of the picture is ignored.

#3: when you transfer a project image, there a bounding box with corner around it boxes.  Simply drag one of the corners for re - scale the image.

#4: use the PSE.

#5: you are right - buy the biggest size of picture, you think you need and he re-size down.

See the help files for the PSE file menu item... A place that evokes the benefits of putting in images like "Smart Objects", give us another question if you want more explanation on this subject.

Hello... I am new to photoshoping...

    I need help help here...

I'm working on a J2me application that uses the image of the map, since mobile phones have limited resources, I need to reduce the size of a map image as much as possible

BUT the quality of the text (names of road) and roads must be preserved...

Because they must be readable in mobile phone...

So, what choices do I have?

It has probably been used only 2 colors. This always proud image for allure, you will need 4 colors with the Color Table value adaptive or Perceptive to get a 288KO file (don't use not selective, it works well with this image). You can also try the application filter-> blur-> blur of Surface with a radius of about 25 and a threshold of 30 to simplify the picture. After you apply the Surface blur, the picture came out to about 268kb

Edit: Scratch that I had my value 268kb with the size of the image intact

  • Image size for DVD part is bad 720 instead of project 1080, why?

    Hi all...

I use the trial. Wanted to experience the burn on a DVD. I tried a few methods. When I choose to share via DVD the image size is reduced to 720 when the project, which I pointed out, is set to 1080. I checked all the information on all the sequences and to 1080. Can you please help me to understand why this is? Is it because it is a trial version?

Need this burning by Jan 16 so I'm panicking a bit.

I successfully exported a QuickTime desktop at full 1080 resolution. I am tired of this combustion, but it didn't... it may have been because of my DVD player or disc? DVD - RW? It takes +? ...

    Sorry I'm such a novice!

I really appreciate your time and help-

It is actually 480, the vertical height. This is because the DVD is an obsolete format and does not support HD, SD Media strictly

  • How to print the specific image size?

Hi Gang - How can I print an image 11 x 15 "on paper 13 x 19"?  Initially, it seems easy, but things are not how to navigate. Here's what I did:

I exported the photo and used the dialog box LR image resize to 11 x 15 "- easy."

I imported the exported image (assuming that the image was 11 x 15 ") and then in the LR print area - it is where the confusion begins.

The print tab displays the dimensions of the image as 8 x10.19 in.  Help, how can I do the 11 x 15 "I need it to be?

I understand that I will need to adjust the image to get the part I want in the space of 11 x 15, but for the moment, I can't even 11 x 15 "size.

I tried package customized options, but no luck there.

I would like to Print Studio Pro Canon plugin that works very well. Except, again, I don't know how to ask the image size 11 x 15 "for printing on paper 13 x 19".

Fiddling with settings, I printed a dozen attempts and still no luck to reach 11 x 15 "size of the image on paper 13 x 19".  For now, I'm OK with the image to cut or to another plane - no baby - I need to know how to make the print image 11 x 15 "size of the image. A

    Thank you to offer suggestions.

    Screenshot shows that my image 11 x 15 "is 8x10.19; I don't know how 11 x 15 ".

Brain: generally intuitive, but need some help on this issue!

The first step in the Lightroom print module is to click on the Page Setup button, select your printer, and then select the paper size. It looks like your screen to paper size correct has not been selected yet, because you said you wanted to print on paper 13 x 19 inches, but the paper on the screen is only 8.5 inches wide. My guess is that Page Setup is always programmed for letter-size paper, and you should come back on layout and change it. After you do this, if your layout Style is unique, you should be able to affect the size of the cell 11 x 15 inches.

It is not the size of the image, it's the size of the file. The file size is in megabytes or kilobytes. The image size is in pixels, the width and height.

The size of the file and the size of the image should not be confused.

It didn't tell you something on the other.

A reduced file size does not necessarily indicate quality problems.

A reduced file size may be normal, or it may be a result of choose you the wrong choices in the dialog box export, however, Lightroom gives you what you asked for.

Please show us a screenshot of your export settings, in particular the file sizing section.

  • Bug image size

After you have installed the latest version of iOS (El Capitan) and the latest version of Photoshop, image sizes began to work incorrectly:

    (1) if I resize document form 320 px width 360 it some of the layers of color randomly in black.

    Screen Shot 2015-10-12 at 17.30.54.pngScreen Shot 2015-10-12 at 17.31.47.png

    (2) if I have little bit resize 320 px to 330 and 340, 350 and 360, it not only resizes the document, but randomly changes the size of the objects inside (and again the color changes):

I work in Photoshop since version 3.0 and never seen sth like that!

If someone has and how it can be solved?

    Thank you!

I don't know why the person who answered me deleted his response, but still actually sober, so I want to thank him (she) and repost it here, so it might help smbd with the same question:

  • How can I talk to a LIVE person here on the dimensions of fixation on a Psd file?  Size and DImensions continue to appear weak, even after changing their sub Image < Image size

It seems that no matter how many times I change the size of the Image and make Pixel size as large as possible, dimensions appear 4 x 6 for my client.  I downloaded this file Psd layered on DropBox and the document still appears small.  I have expanded the size of the Image in inches, enlarged the dimensions in pixels of the Image, and again, when you use crop tool (in what customer says she used a million times before) it seems that it parts of image design and cultures.  So, what gives?

I would LOVE you forever if you are able to help me trouble shoot this challenge (not to mention learning it) I am a newbie who couldn't afford to finish school and this is certainly a first.

You can change the ppi to change the size of the image.

The dimensions in pixels, ppi and image size are linked together, when you change one, one of the other two must change.

    Here's the formula.

    Inches X ppi = pixels

The ppi is stored in the metadata so if the file header is corrupt or you use save for web, the ppi could be missing. In this case Photoshop guess of 72 dpi, which would change the size of the image.

As long as the pixel dimensions has not changed, then there is nothing to fear. Pixel dimensions is the actual data. If the size of the image is incorrect, anyone with most image editing software can change the size of the image or the ppi to fix. Make sure that the pixel dimensions do not change. In Photoshop just uncheck the box resampling.

  • Export the LR5 Image size

I used LR a good amount and you have not run into this problem before.trying to export images for use in Wordpress (resolution 1620 x 720) and that I put the 'image size' parameters as 1620 x 720 and 'dimension', 'pixels' and 'resolution 300', she continues to their output to 960 x 720.

The original file size is 3264 x 2448 in JPEG format.

    Also, I use Lightroom 5.7.

Any thoughts on what keeps me out in my size?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Best,
    Glenn K.

You first need to crop the image to a lengthening of 1620 x 720 (or equivalently of 9 x 4), and then when you export with the 1620 x 720 size settings, you will get what you want.

  • Compression / optimization of image sizes

    Hi all

I am currently working on a horizontal image slideshow. I have about 35 images of large and high quality that are simply lined up side by side and the slideshow is controlled by horizontal view.

My problem is that the images take very long to load and the slideshow is constantly trolling. I even added a preloader, but it's not really helping.

Is it possible to compress my photos?

    Thank you

    Nicolas

What is your average image size?

    In general

    n ' use no images straight out of a camera, especially DSLR - they tend to be heavy mb;

    -use .jpg

    -resize if necessary, such as resize or images of the harvest to the visible area you have;

You can resize, crop or output for the web using a variety of free or commercial applications.

Which graphics application you have at hand?

    Hello

Please help me, when I try to resize the file psd his watch this message... .whats the matter?

"Could not complete the command image size because that file name is not valid"

    Thank you!

I had the same problem with you and tried to look around, but I solved it myself. One or two layers created by the insertion of your library which have been uploaded to the server cloud.

When you open the file, you can see the warning as "recreate a link... blah blah your file" If reject you the message, you can still work on it, but you cannot resize, or drag all layers to other new file (tried).

Everything you need that discovering the layers that are related to the server delegating and delete it. FACT.

  • Image size more

I am a novice. I want to create an image 22hx29w measurement using 8.5x14 paper. Would like step by step instructions.

    1. it's going to be some major of your 4 x 6 image pixelation, since you're trying high-end to your image. You may lose image quality significantly.

Here are some useful links that explain this question:

    http://www.photoshopessentials.com/Essentials/image-resizing/

2 to print your image in a format and it prints "mosaic".

Below you can see my image to 4 x 6.

3 go to Image > Image size, to view your images, pixels and size.

4 to change the size of your image, you change the width and height. I walked out of similar dimensions to your below circled in red below.

5 below you can see my image. When you 'scale-up' and the image, you can quality considerable loss as you can see below. You can start with a larger file with a large pixels, in order to have more 'pixels' to play with when move you up.

6 go to file > print. This will bring up the print dialog box.

7 select your printer. Then select the printer settings (circled in red). This opens the dialog box for your printer, where you can set the size of your paper.

8 now your printer will be set and prints the image now parts that can fit on the size of the page you goes.

    I hope this helps.

  • The image size is reduced - don't know why?

Help! I have published a slew of images and need to print large prints (on the 24 x 30). When I export images, size is 11 x 14. The original files are HUGE - I don't know why the size of compression. I'm sure it's a simple solution, but I don't know what it is.

    I have a Mac OS X and Lightroom 3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    Angie

Crop you the image? You set the output pixel size in the export dialog box?

An original of 5184 x 3456 cannot be printed at 24 x 30 because the proportions do not match. The fact that elongation of match 4264 x 2843 and 24 x 30 indicates that you cropped the photo. But you cannot print 4264 x 2843 to 24 x 30 to 360 DPI (not dpi) because there are not enough pixels in the photo. 24 x 30 to 360 DPI is an image that is 8640 x 10800 and you don't have that many pixels. You can always print 24 x 30, but a lower PPI.
