Help with file Extensions

Hello. I made a simple text-editing program, but I don't want to use .txt files. I put it to use .txe files, but obviously Windows marked as unknown files. First of all I want to be able to do is have my text editor to write to the registry of the user, the association of the .txe files in my program. Second, if the file association works I need to ensure that the file that the user opens by double-clicking is read and automatically put in the text field. I'm a little lost on these two points, so any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Video clip with file extension 3gpp converted to wmv but no audio in Windows Movie Maker

I have a video clip taken from a cell phone with file extension 3gpp.  I converted it to a wmv file using software downloaded using an XP operating system.

Thank you for your interest and your answer to my question.  I was actually able to do something with it that I managed to import a file to convert 3gpp in Windows Movie Maker.  Here's what I did as others who may have the same problem currently or in the future, try:

Initially, I converted a file video in a .wmv file 3gpp and tried to import the Windows Movie Maker.  The video is imported, but is not the audio.  I converted the same file video 3gpp in one file .avi and it imported into the Windows Movie Maker project that I did and it worked! The .avi video and audio imported and played without any problems.  Thanks again for your response.

  • How can I get 12 PES to save a TIFF file with file extension ".tiff" instead of ".tif"?

I use PSE 12 as an external editor for Aperture.  When I ask to use an external editor photo, opening creates a .tiff file in my folder of opening, lance 12 PES and told him to change the .tiff file.  It all works very well.  When I am done editing in PES 12, I ask him to save the file and it saves it in the original opening file with the extension .tif.  I would say rather "save under" and then it suggests the name of the file with the extension .tif.  When I fix the .tiff extension it tells me that I will replace the file (that's what I want!).  I say Yes and then I find that PSE did not overwrite the file, but he wrote in a .tif in any case file.  I have to go in the folder, delete the .tiff file and rename the .tif .tiff in and then everything is fine - but what hassle.  Did someone solved this problem?

This isn't quite the problem, which is good, because you can't change that. The real solution is that you never want to see Save as window in PSE if you use PES as external editor for any program. When you see you're not creating a version for your asset management program. Go to the PES preferences > saving files > first record and choose to save to the existing file. This should do what you want.

  • Need help with files combining script

Hey guys, I'm a graphic designer who is really hoping most commonly the code can someone help! I have several hundred images that need to be combined. A client gave me a folder of images and their alpha cards as separate files. I need combine each image and alpha map and export the new image format PNG 24 with transparency. Doing so by hand will take forever, do this with a script is going to be awesome. The script must:

    -Open Filename.png

-Create a duplicate of the background layer (as background layers may not have masks it seems)

    -Remove the background layer

-Add a layer mask to the new double layer

-Open filenamea.png (the alpha cards follow convention assignment of names + a .png file name)

-Copy filenamea.png into the layer mask to filename.png

-Save the filename.png for Web and devices such as a PNG 24 with transparency in a folder called converted (to avoid overwriting the old image)

I'm sure it's more complicated, it seems, but is - someone up to help a poor, illiterate code GD?

Here's a JavaScript solution only, for the curious. Save it as MergeAlpha.jsx and run it from Photoshop.

  • I can't open the files with the extension .wmv either... I use Windows XP

When I receive files with file extension wmv I can't open them?  Why?

    Hottaye,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

You use Windows Media Player to access the .wmv file? If this isn't the case, follow these steps:

    1. save the WMV file on your disk.

    2. then, right click, click on Open withand then click Choose default program.

    3. in the open with dialog box, click Windows Media Player, and then click OK.

In case you don't have it:

    Windows Media Player download

You receive an error message?  Can you play other .wmv files that you do not receive as an attachment?  In Windows Media Player, play a different file that uses the same extension of file name as the file that you were using when you received the error message. If the other file plays correctly, then you try to play the original file may be damaged.

I can't wait to hear back on your part.

    Hi Oniebeme,

    • Exactly when you receive the above errors?

    Step 1

You can run the checker system files (SFC Scan) on your computer and check if it helps you to fix the aid and support question. System File Checker analyzes all immediately protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions. This command may require access to the Windows installation source files. Follow the steps below to scan SFC on your computer.

    one.

Click Start and run, type sfc/scannow, and then click OK.

    b.

Once the scan is complete, restart the computer.
Note You will need the Microsoft Windows installation CD if the scanning utility cannot find the necessary system files.

Access the link below to learn more about Scan SFC.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

    Step 2

If scan running SFC does not help, you can create a new user account and check if it works fine without error on the user account. If the new user profile on the computer works fine, copy data from the user of the old account to the new.

You can access the link below and follow the steps in the article to create a new user account and copy the data to the new account.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/811151

    Step 3

This behavior can also occur if the computer is infected with the Virus. I would recommend torun a virus online scan.

Access the link below and check if your computer is infected with the virus and delete the same.

    http://safety.live.com

If the steps above do not help, you may need to contact the Champagne and Dell technical support if you can get a Windows XP installation disc.

  • I use CF disks and Smart Media/xd 3 cameras when you import images into Lightroom. Get weird file extensions. Appreciate the advice.

At a recent wedding, I used 3 different cameras and 2 types of media cards. A type is a standard CF 2 GB and the other is a 2 GB Smart Media/xo.  They imported with file extensions such as 001 - 3.jpg, 002 - 4.jpg, some files are named correctly, 003, 006.  That this has something to do with the help of different cameras.  How prevent you getting the or - 1-2 after a number of digital file. I'm sure there's an easy answer and I do not have something good, but it drives me crazy.

There are already files with the name you are trying to write to the disk, so Lightroom trying to do the right thing to stop overwriting of files and adds a number to the file, so it has a different name.

Be more aware of your image sequence that import you will help prevent it.

  • Everyone knows is not recognized by the right program file extensions?

I use CC - show all, Win 7 Pro and Win 8 Pro on a second PC. Only the Win 7 system shows this issue, but the two systems have identical software. Click on an inDesign file and Acrobat tries to open it.

Click a Photoshop file and an HDR app called "Luminance" tries to open it.

Use the traditional method to choose program to open files with is a waste of time. They always try to be opened by the same apps. I'm not a newby here. I know my path in the registry and tried to change it to put the file in relation to the program. Next time you start and it's as if I have never changed the register in the first place.

It's strictly a PC work, not the kind of thing that you expect to contract a virus or malware but I installed Microsoft Security Essencials and did a "home visit" in a well known AV company. Nothing extraordinary about each machine.

When I bought this system in 2010, I had a problem installing Windows on it. I had to get a technician MS connect remotely and do the installation. (Hour and a half then it must have been considerable) but since then it is every day without any problem. With the exception of a suite of plug-in called onOne 5,6 and 7. Whenever I tried to use it with Photoshop, it would be open two versions of himself and go out or freeze Photoshop.

There is only a single application in this sequel that I never use so part of restitution provided a stand-alone version of this app. I've pretty much convinced myself that their suite is the cause of the problem with file extensions, but someone to admit they have flakey software is like trying to make a horse to talk to another human language.

The last edition began not long after I installed Luminance HDR, a free app that does a great job of tone mapping. I also use the Luminance on the second PC that does not display these one of these problems. He got so bad trying to install the app from onOne as a plugin, (another waste of money, he still kills Photoshop) I can use is more file manager to select a file to open with any cc Adobe program I have. Today I targeted the card mother and flashed the BIOS and replaced all the drivers with the new versions also.

Always do, GRRRR! I can't believe I'm the only one who has this problem so I'm posting here in the hope I'm not alone and can get a pointer or three on how to solve this problem. No harm to hope, not there at - it?

  • What can I do to find file extensions, please? I'm trying to restore my previous session on Firefox, & need help file extensions...

I was told if I found the session files I would be better able to restore my previous browsing sessions... I am using Windows XP PRO SP3 32-bit.
But I was also told that if I went to a particular place on Microsoft Windows, I know how to get the file extensions, so far I have had no luck with assistance here... hoping someone can help.
Or... do you something if I activate a restore point which would be an easier option?
I'm old & not a geek, if need you detailed instructions please

Thanks in anticipation... I am very grateful to be able to request...
    Kind regards
    Sylvia

Session files are located in your profile folder and are named sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak. If you have had an accident, FF load automatically and ask you if you want to use the session crashed.

If you don't have an accident, you can load the last session in FF from the default home page by clicking on the restore session. If you have changed the default home page you can call it by adding on: houses a copy of your FF shortcut. Simply change as follows...
    Then, you will see this...
Click on restore the previous session.

  • Help! A registry cleaner/duplicate file remover program deleted my file extensions!

Help, please! A solvent cleaner/duplicate file registry program removed nearly all my file extensions, and I can't open any files excet a .pdf file. Several weeks ago, I went online looking for ways to increase my memory on my Windows XP Professional. I had no business playing with this stuff. I'm not tech savy. For some reason, I thought I knew what I was doing. I downloaded several different free programs, which were supposed to increase the memory on my hard drive. I don't know what program was the culprit, but she deleted my file extensions. Is there a free program that fixes / replaces all the typical file extensions? Please, please advise.

Use system restore to return to a time before your error - this should restore the registry to its previous state and resolve the problem.
