History of bookmarks import without a backup available
A few days ago the motherboard on my computer is out, and the computer is Kaput. The hard drive is OK. I installed it as a secondary on my new computer drive (the two XP Win SP3s)
What was my local c:\drive is now my drive e:\, and that's where all my favorites and history are stored.
Of course there is no return to the top, so I need to know if there is any way I can get my settings of the e:\drive in my newly installed Firefox?
- Locate your old profile on your now secondary drive (E: /)
- Open your current profile (c: /)
- In Firefox help > troubleshooting information > Application Basics section. Profile folder. Click on the button view the folder will open a window of the Explorer of your current profile folder
- closing of Firefox
- Copy places.sqlite since your old profile folder (on E: /) to your profile folder (c: /)
- ATTENTION: copy of the file on top of the current places.sqlite file will replace any bookmarks and history that you added in the new Firefox profile on your current C drive. /.
- Restart Firefox and your bookmarks and history should be available
Other files that you can copy from your old profile to new profile. Don't copy not the profile folder.

Can I import bookmarks/favourites WITHOUT having reorganized them the way FF wants?
This question seems to be common to all browsers, but it of maddening to me and prevented me from browsers before changing, but I'm really tired of IE.
I have a lot of folders with bookmarks and in these folders are the other files with bookmarks. The records are in the order I want that they, as is their content. After you import, everything was in alphabetical order, and the entire structure became useless for me. Drag / drop a few hundred components individually are not what I want to do. Is it possible to import things exactly as they are? It would be a logical option for a feature like this?
You can export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you don't have the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then right-click on the toolbar above to activate the menu bar.
- Export Favorites in Internet Explorer to a file (bookmarks.html) HTML:
File > import and export - Import HTML file in Firefox:

After trying to import my favorites saved in an html file, using bookmarks > organize bookmarks > import and backup > import html, nothing is being updated from saved files
This isn't "machine code", it's like a JSON backup file is formatted (except it usually shows no line breaks, it's a long line when displaying in most text programs or in Firefox). Rename a JSON file as HTML does not work, the formats are completely different.
If you replace this file in jsonextension, you should be able to restore these data in Firefox.
Bookmarks > organize bookmarks-> import and backup - restore - Choose file... -
Carefully, I tried to follow the instructions to import IE Favorites, as it appears in Firefox "Help". The choice of 'import' is simply not available under 'File', as it is supposed to be.
This happens if you're in private browsing mode. For more information on how to get out of the private browsing mode, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private+Browsing

My history and bookmarks disappeared. How to make a comeback?
I downloaded a program that somehow deleted my history and bookmarks? I also for some reason, do not have a copy of the system to restore, which is really weird. My places.sqlite file is only what I searched today trying to find a way to solve this problem. I use no profiles.
You always have one Firefox profile folder.
The profile folder is located in a hidden place.- C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
"AppData" (XP: Application data;) Mac: ~ / library. Linux: ~/.mozilla) is a hidden folder.
Do you have you refresh (reset) Firefox and have created a new profile?
When you reset/refresh Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, data form) are automatically imported.
The current profile folder will be moved to "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, Pref.) that you have made are lost and must be redone. If you have an "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop, then you can retrieve your personal data files and copy in the current profile folder.
For bookmarks, you can copy the file places.sqlite (history and bookmarks) and the folder bookmarkbackups.
For passwords, you must logins.json and signons3.txt.
This stores the encryption key (master password) necessary to decrypt the passwords stored in logins.json (signons.sqlite is no longer used).
You can retrieve more personal data. -
I found an article on importing the Favorites of Explorer. She said press Alt, (which I did, but could not see everything that happens) and then the menut file, click Import. However, the selection of import is not available.
You are not running in incognito mode are you?
Try to do this way, IMO, it works better together.

How can I change the background of the history and bookmarks in Firefox 24?
The blue background by default history and bookmarks framed is too close in color to the gray used to a selected item, once I click on the Web site itself. How can I change so that there is more contrast?
You are missing a colon after the background color. It works for me, but I think the color gold-ish is burned in my vision now. My tastes are intended to soft colors - I use #DDDDDD for the background color of the sidebar.
#bookmarks-view, #historyTree { background-color: #CFB53B !important; }

Bookmarks imported into IE but only 1 file migrated
I tried to import my bookmarks from IE 8 following the process described. It seemed to work until I looked at the imported list and saw that only the first record of my many favorites is listed under imported IE Favorites. How can I get the rest of my files? I tried to do this several times. Thank you.
If there are problems with importing IE bookmarks in Firefox, then export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you don't have the menu bar in Internet Explorer, and then right-click on the toolbar above to activate the menu bar.

I installed the new version 13, called Aurora. I currently have, but if I start to dislike the new features (until now I do! But I have to ask) can I 'come back' to the 'good old' Firefox 11?
Will I be losing my data and settings? History and bookmarks? My computer is a Pentium M 1, 6 GHz (2004) and version 11 seemed very stable. I installed Aurora is because I wanted to try your new software.
Yes, you can uninstall the aurora and install the latest stable version whenever you want without losing the personal data because your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks or other personal data.
Thank you

In Firefox 8.0.1, where is the import feature to import bookmarks from another browser or a return to the top of the bookmarks on a dvd. In addition, there doesn't seem to be a bookmark manager to organize or edit bookmarks.
operating system is windows xp home edition 2002 service pack 3
"Bookmarks > organize bookmarks ' has been renamed to"show all bookmarks"in Firefox 4 and later versions.
You can find the entry menu import into the Manager of bookmarks (library)
- Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > import data from another browser

What is the difference (if any) between iPhoto and iPhoto library? I managed to delete my pictures in freeing up space, but have a backup available. I need to restore these two files in the folder images or one is one duplicate of the other?
I use a MacBook Air 2013 model with a backup on a WD MyBook Duo disc for storage wireless as the Apple Time Machine.
The Photos and the iPhoto library are totally separated - neither one is connected to the other somehow--you want to restore the library you need

Well, this is an advanced method, it is relatively easier than other methods if you do it right.

I'm putting an iPhone my iCloud 6 more and it says no backups available.
I got my iPhone more stolen 6 and I'm trying to set up the new iPhone my iCloud 6 more and it said no backups available.
I can see on my iCloud account, I have a backup. What is the problem?
I guess the iOS which lay on the iPhone 6 that had stolen you was more recent than the one you have on the replacement. Connect the replacement phone to the computer and iTunes. Set up as news and update the iOS. Once you have updated the iOS, go to settings > General > reset > erase content and settings. Which will bring you to the Setup Wizard. From there, start the installation and choose to restore your iCloud backup device.
