  If it was me I open one of the images then go to Image--> the canvas size.  Then expand TI (relative check) of several (12) inches in width and height (choose to anchor the part you want to stay where he is.)

  Open another image and drag it in the first.  Or select all and then copy / paste If you wish, you can you should now have two images in the same file/tab.  Everyone should be on different layers.  Use the move tool to position them how you want.

  Finally go to Image > Trim and leave the default values.  He must cut off all the excess.  Save in any format you want.

  You should be able to select all the layers in the area where the first face is (that includes layers for the second face which is somewhere near the bottom of the timeline) and insert frames at a time.  If there is a section where you can select a number of frames between keyframes, it's where you want to run.  You should not include the keyframes in the middle of the selection.

  In other words, you might consider doing this is to transform each face a movieclip autonomous while in the scenario where the sound is, you only have the a frame/layer so that the face you need to deal with.

  You should be able to fairly easily copy images/layers for the first side in a movieclip and the second.  Once you have copied images, choose Insert-> new symbol-> Movieclip-> OK (or something like that), and when he opens the movieclip for editing, just select the first image on its single layer, right-click and choose Paste images.  Who's going to plant all frames and layers that you copied in the timeline of the movieclip.

  Load your Image

  Don't know what it is exactly, but usually you can do this with the fuzzy combination/masking, something like that:

  

  Here image separated from the background, and then filtered with a Low Pass (7 x 7), result hidden, then again filtered with small core for anti-aliasing, then simply added with the original image. You can use VI attached as departure (IMAQ Vision required).
