How can I disable the new pop alert software - ups appearing regularly on all of my devices?

Every once in a while, I get a window pop up on my screen, announcing that the new software updates are available for my computer. My action options are limited - download all, remind me later, and one more. These alerts are a nuiscance for me. Is it possible to disable them?

Thanks for your help.

You must install these updates, because most of them, if not all, is updates of security ensure the safety of your Mac. Anyway, if you do not want to install any update, your best option is to disable the automatic update search in the preferences system-> software update (or App Store).

Hello, firefox 22 is now about the density of pixels you have upgraded to system in Control Panel > appearance > display. more information about this is available at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/make-the-text-on-your-screen-larger-or-smaller

If you want to set the text size/pixel density in firefox is different that your system settings as it has been addressed in previous versions, enter about: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named layout.css.devPixelsPerPx. Double-click it and change its value to 1.0 (or any zoom factor that suits your needs; -1.0 is the default and will respect the parameters of the system).

  • How can I disable the suggestion to "Improve Firefox" which appeared after the update of FF8? No any choice allows to avoid the appearance of popup the next time.

I use FF8 with Selenium RC test infrastructure. When I installed the last update of FF contextual dialog YesNo "You want to contribute to improve..." ' began to appear before each test is run. Thus, the test stopped running on this popup and my problem is that I can not disable this popup for next time. I want to say I select Yes or no, popup disappears, but still appears in the next round of tests. How can I disable this popup at all?

Hi guys! Thanks to all of you for the cooperation and ready to help. I have summarized all your advice, so the following 3 steps unravel the problem for FF8 and do my tests to run fine:

    1. Create and configure a new FF profile, using these instructions and suggestions . Don't put your FF to the default profile at the end.
    2. Then follow the first 6 steps by SafeBrowser (see above) to the new profile. Switch to the default profile (in firefox - p).
    3. Don't forget to use your new profile when you run the selenium Server (-firefoxProfileTemplate command line parameter) or the value of selenium to use this profile when starting a browser to Salenece.

  • How can I disable the new feature to 'work more easily with the glyphs' InDesign cc?

Update November 2015 has introduced an online system to access glyph variants. I don't know if this feature has a specific name, but it is described here. And here is a screenshot that shows what it looks like:

    Glyph.png

Whenever you make a selection, the blue bar points out that the first glyph, and if you hover over the vicinity of the blue bar, glyphs appear as shown. Click on a glyph to replace the underlined in blue with an alternate glyph.

It is a lot of in-your-face UI for a feature, I don't expect never use. Worse still, I found that it's easy to fumble-fingers a glyph selection alternative not desired in the normal course of editing. I hope I got all the cases in which I did; I don't think that, for example, the spell checker will help with that since the letter itself is not changed, as the Visual representation of it.

In any case, I would really like to disable this feature completely. I looked around for an option, but I don't see it anywhere. This option exists? If not, it must of course...

  • How can I disable the affiliation platform 'Improve text' which is present on all my web surfing

When I use the Firefox browser to surf the web, on nearly every web page I visit an invasive advertising platform creates the anchor links on web pages (keywords anchor with two hyperlinks under the anchor Word) which, when clicked takes the Viewer to an advertisement. Most of the links seems to be part of an advertising belonged to 'Enhance text' platform, I contacted to complain. They played kind of stupid. I said I thought it was the result of some malicious software where they were the sole beneficiary and they assured me that they instigate it. I went on the Warrior Forum, and some members suggested it sounded like he just one of your extensions or plugins. My security and rubbed my computer technology consultant and they removed some of your extensions and plugins and the problem disappeared. But two weeks later, he is back and she is omnipresent. Even words in my online bank accounts show these text links.

Apart from security issues, my biggest fear is that they fly the traffic on the Web sites I publish - Web sites where I'm selling either my own or affiliate products. And that bothers me a lot.

I don't know that I'm not the only user of the web that encounter this issue. If other web publishers also get their traffic flown and directed to a competitor's site, you can bet that there will be a class action lawsuit on the horizon for Mozilla. So I suggest go you to the bottom of this situation and remedy, because legal action will be the inevitable result.

I don't want to alarm you because I use Firefox as my main browser. However, I checked IE, and Chrome and Chrome presents the same situation. So I don't really know how this happens, and this is why I am contacting you in this regard.

Please let me know if you know how to disable this invasive pest.

    Kind regards

  • How can I disable the mini-bar of scrolling that appears randomly when scrolling?

    ProBook 4310 s, Windows 7

When scrolling, a small scrollbox appears randomly and that he's taking me away from the page I'm scrolling on.  This happens when I use the small plate square to scroll.  It's the only 'function' most irritating of any computer I have ever owned or used, and I wish I could turn it off.  How to do that please?

    Hi Taxlady:

I found the solution myself.  You have to start HP Support Assistant and choose the resolution of problems (the second of the four options, my copy is in Swedish so it may not be called Problem Solving but something similar).  Then choose the devices, one on the middle of the bottom row and the following Configuration for mouse and .  Here, you will get a new window with a menu five point on the left.  These elements will be something like:

Overview, scroll, Point, buttons and other things I don't even understand Swedish for!

Choose scrolling, and down there, you have a finger to scroll.  Disable horizontal and vertical scrolling, and your problems are over.

How can I disable the newtab most used feature display sites. I want the new tab to open the page displayed in the newtab:url in the topic: function config

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using the extension classic restaurateur theme: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

    Setting up substitute again tab

After installing this extension, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab override and click the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Success?

Once you have set it as you wish, you can close the Add-ons page (or use the back button to return to the list of Extensions of this Options page).
