Try Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.

A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

  • You can open the mode without failure of Firefox 4.0 + by pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

Do not choose anything at the moment, just use 'continue in safe mode.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.

If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

Go to the Menu bar (press F10 or Alt to the unhide) go to View > > toolbars and select the Navigation toolbar.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

    Some traps:

If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system.

Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then take a critical look at the list to the right. (It is possible, that you have a bunch of shit with something free that you recently downloaded).

If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is leads to: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

    A little luck?

  • How can I reset the page that appears when I open a new tab "white"?

MySearchDial reset my settings in several browsers. I deleted the program, I set my home page and removed the site from the list of engines of research possible, but when I opened a new tab "in white", it always opens with MySearchDial features. I tried the SearchReset extension, it did not work. I tried the subject: config newtab url, that does not work either.

    How to reset it?

Could you take a second look at everything: config?

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) If you check the browser.newtab.url preference, what is he on? These are the typical things:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

If it is already set correctly, but still, you get a white page MySearchDial, one of your other extensions may be the problem.

You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off...

If it indicates that it is locked or refuses to save the changes, Check Control Panel, uninstall a program for a program called research protect and remove that. Locked preference may also indicate the presence of a mozilla.cfg file. If you think that, please post back for more information, by simply removing this file can cause problems.

The normal behavior is to open a blank tab, an add-on will be originally to show Yahoo. An add-on which has net gel assistant, if you have one you can uninstall it and it should go back to the opening of a blank tab.

There are modules that allow you to specify what should open in a new tab, such as:

  • How can I keep the wargames encroach on the browser on a new tab?

Firstly, I download and install fire Fox. everything works fine and fast. the second day without any warning a new tab of a site of war games opens automatically... . How can I keep this from happening?

Is there a model when this happens, for example, when you start Firefox, no matter what time you go to your home page (or open a new window using Ctrl + n), or at random times?

You can check a few things:

    (1) home page

Firefox allows several tabs for home page (s). You can see the extra page in the Options dialog box. See: start-up, homepage, tabs and download settings.

    (2) modules

Unexpected behavior may be caused by unwanted extensions. Try turning off all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > Add ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off.

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.
