  My suggestions-

  1. Uninstall LR5. It out of your system, you use it again.

  2. find your catalog file (a file of type. LRCAT) using the operating system (Windows Explorer / Mac Finder)

  3. open the xxx. LRCAT file (double click or Right click/open)

  As ManiacJoe says above-

  LR6/CC will transfer your data LR5 in a new catalog of LR6 format with a "-2" added at the end of the name; your catalog LR5 remains unchanged.

  4. When you then open Lightroom, the default catalog will be the converted catalog.

  Consider the catalog 'old' LR5 as a backup only. (If you try to open a second time, you will have an another LR6/cc catalog called xxx-2 - 2.lrcat)

  AND-you, the pictures are NOT IN LIGHTROOM! They exist in the folders on your computer. The Lightroom Catalog is a database that displays thumbnails that have a 'link' to your photos.

  AND you don't have to "Move" anything! Everything remains exactly where it was, (Images, catalog)

  Copy the library from the internal drive to the external drive. You can then open the library on the external hard drive by double clicking it and check, if the copy does not work.

  Photos has no tools to merge libraries. You can use both libraries alternating, or export the photos of a library and import them into the other library.

  Or use the application PowerPhotos to merge the two libraries move photos from one library to another.

  You will need the full version and paid f PowerPhotos to do.

  You can also look at the options of programs that start automatically. It may be possible to disable them.

  Look in the startup folder in the start all programs Menu. Right click and delete any entries that you don't want.

If you cannot migrate from cold or storage vmotioin - otherwise just copy the directory of the virtual machine from one host to the other housing the host using something like WinSCP - and re-register on the new host.   Create a Style group in each document and move all styles in this file. Give each document a different name. Do it with all kinds of styles: paragraph, character, objects, tables and Cell Styles. Then you can sort them later in the merged document what you do with these styles.
