  The D810 requires camera raw 8.6, which is currently not available for Photoshop elements.

  You can download and install the Adobe's DNG Converter for free and use it to convert the NEF files to DNG files which can then be processed by Photoshop elements.

  DNG Converter 7.1 RC (beta version) can convert files D800. It is available on Labs.Adobe.com , which also has ACR 7.1 RC that will treat the D800 files in Photoshop CS6.

  Try to copy your raw files to your computer with something else than Nikon Transfer (e.g., with a card reader).  I've been hearing things for a while that means this program can make raw unreadable by Adobe Camera Raw files.

  You must make sure you have the latest version of ACR, which is version 5.6. Some Adobe links are not what they seem and lead to earlier versions. Use the download to PSE8; It will work with PSE7.
