  I understand from your description, that you cannot change the folder icon with a custom icon uploaded to the Internet.

  I'll be happy to help you. This problem could be caused because you may not have selected the right path or the location of the file that you downloaded or the downloaded file may be damaged or does not work or does not exist.

  I suggest to follow the steps below and we update on the State of the question.

  I recommend you to check or find the location of the file or path where exactly you downloaded and to check whether the file is actually present in the location and also check the file is fully downloaded and work very well.

  a. Subsequently, navigate to the folder that you change the icon and right-click on the folder.

  b. click Properties, click the Customize tab, click change icon, and click Browse.

  c. Select the correct path inside the menu drop-down or enter the correct path manually from the exact location of the downloaded file.

  Since it is the basic disk is supported by the VM of the parent in which the linked Clone was created from, you could look at it's peripheral VirtualDisk and check to see if it's parent, if so it will repoint towards the main VM VirtualDiskFlatVer2BackingInfo in which the LC has been cloned from.

  The other thing is if you created of LC and you want to distinguish between internally, just add an annotation on the VM the LC has been cloned from and perhaps say it is a LC, might be easier if you follow just internally.

  I found a solution for this problem on the 64-bit windows 7!
  
  I changed and added a few keys in the registry to fix this thing to preview:
  IN REGEDIT:
  _ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\
  where I had only 2 keys inside the shellex.
  _I watched inside the shellex mpeg (because mpeg would generate good thumbnails):
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\
  where he had 3 keys
  _SO what I tried was to copy these 3 key and replace my key shellex .mov with those 3.
  That's what you can do:
  -Open regedit
  -Click on: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\
  then export it (this will be your backup in case this does not work, or mess you something you'll just have to click on it to install it again.
  Then,
  -remove the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mov\shellex\"KEY.
  -Open Notepad
  -Paste the following text in your Notepad file:
