  I use InDesign 4 to create training materials.  I need images of the label with the numbers and descriptions.  I learned how to do this right.  What I don't know is how to make the boxes moving figure when new text is added - everything moves, but the boxes stay appears in the same place and so I have to manually move it each.

  What, on the contrary, I'm missing?  I tried to group the text box containing the image, what does not work.  I've searched and searched in the books, but I guess I'm just not ask the correct questions to get my answer.

  Looks like the images are embedded, but not legends. You can group the two front to anchor or dock separately.

  Unfortunately, we do not have a control character 'nextContainer '. It's on our list of requested features. I'm not sure, there is a good solution, but if the text is not edited you could understand the last line that you want to include, and then resize the container for other lines do not match and will push the next container. If the text will be updated frequently, it could be that this approach does not work very well.

  It is not possible to change anything in the PDF with Adobe Reader.

  You may need to open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat and choose "tools > forms > edit ' and double-click on a text field to view its properties. Click on the appearance tab, and then change the font size as you wish.

  As Brad has already indicated, the columns are a difficulty.

  Set a text box to separate visually in separate (with a nice gutter) columns does not seem so difficult, but the problem lies in how to manage the flow of text in regards to positions, simple lines ugly upstairs and down a column, deliberate column breaks, how to connect to the text of subsequent block etc. The developers of W3C and browser have not yet agreed on this issue.   Greetings. I'm working on a layout for a user manual. I encountered a problem with the flow of text and images in many cases where the instructions of the manual to a step by step format. Please see the screenshot at the end of the post.

  You will see in the bottom half of the page one of these sequences step by step starts. The 1st image is related to step 1 and 2 in step 2. I want the image to align with the capline of the 1st sentence at each stage and the image must stay in line on the right and the left-aligned text. Here's where I have problems: I don't want to give a space - after replacing every step in order to align the next step with the next image.

  I tried to put the image inline with the text and by aligning his right of paragraph but then I can't align the image with the capline of the 1st sentence in step; the image is before or after the line of text. I also tried dressing jump object, but which becomes immediately problematic when a stage has several lines of text.

  What is the best practice here? I think I lack something real simple. Also, if it's important I have an author on InCopy assignments of edition we're going.

  

  Try following:

  

  You need:

  • 2 paragraph styles
  • 1 object model for image
  1. Specify a paragraph for the numbered list Style as stated above. (But it can be any other model also) I call it 'the list '.
  2. Specify where the image is embedded in a paragraph Style. I call it 'Anchor Image'
     1. Left, the intention is wide the first character to be so far to the right, that this is in the area of the image, would make so vast that it is near the right edge, for example if the frame is 200 mm, you can do left intend 198 mm
     2. The size is not serious, in the example, it is 0.1pt, 0, driving, before 0space and after.
     3. Keep options: Keep with 10 lines (or whatever the number is useful.)
     4. Insert the frame anchored in this paragraph
  3. The style of the object must have following properties:
     1. Text wrapping, I did it with 1 p to the left and to the right, 0mm above and below the rectangle shape
     2. Anchored the position of the image: right 0mm to the right vertical edge, specify a distance between the upper edge of the frame on the insertion will be always to the desired line at the top of the page of the reference.

  The wrapping of the text of the framework will force the number text (with the style of paragraph 'List' of the film, but also the next holder of the anchor with the paragraph style 'Anchor Image' to wrap.)   I know I can drag images from the finder into an InDesign doc and even pull the frame size by.

  Or y at - it a setting where the area of the image runs automatically the text when dragging into the document. Thank you, it will save a lot of cutting travel time, then repasting in the text stream.

  I don't think so. Because when you're dragging to the desktop (or Adobe Bridge) and you enter the InDesign page, the cursor is expected to create a new image, or (if it is on an existing framework), replace the contents of this framework. But the manufacturing process of an anchored object requires the use of the text tool to make a text insertion.

  I would suggest that you do in the InDesign style to match...

  There are lazy as CreateFileStreamWriteLazy equivalent methods.

  Deferred methods will open the file in the application, but you will always get a valid pointer.

• Reverse the flow of the text along a path?

  I have created a path to the oval text using a shape tool.  When I type along the top of the track, the lettering is flowing as it should.  When I type the lower part, it is upside down and backwards because the stream is the same as the top.  How to reverse the flow of the text at the bottom is the place and reads left to right?  Can't find info on how to reverse the direction of flow.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  OK, finally successful: Type around the top half above the lettering.  Reposition the tool text down and continue typing, even if upside down.  Select the path Selection tool, drag the text down to the INSIDE of the oval that will right the text correctly.  Select the text that you want to go then it appears highlighted, go to the window "Select the vertical offset" (not the slider to the left of it) and press down as many times until it is aligned with the bottom of the oval, in my case about - 5.  For larger slices of movement, hold the SHIFT key while pressing the down arrow key to count 10 movements.  The upper part of the lettering will line up correctly with the oval shape.
