  I see sites like SlideRocket, Empressr, Joanieand SproutBuilder all generating a SWF file as their output. These sites are built in Flex, so I wondered how they create their sovereign wealth funds. Is any kind of a class library AS available to do this? Other third party components? I would like to build a widget-maker specializing in Flex, to produce a SWF file, but for now not sure how to do this.

  You can use Adobe LiveCycle, which can create funds rulers of java, ActionScript is really powerful, and costs much $. Or create a service on the server that accepts the parameters and other artifacts, creates a compilable MXML file with data, and then compiles a swf with all content referenced or embedded. You might consider building an AIR application that runs on the user's computer and allows them to compile locally as well, but in both cases, you will need to call the compiler as an external process, to build your swf and create a wrapper html for the player. It is not trivial and you will mainly use the application to allow others without programming skills to build the FLEX program without knowing how to code.

  There are some who would like to see the FLEX PLAYER become its own compilation environment as well as the execution so that you could produce MXML in the drive or loaded from an external source, compile it, and then play or a SWF output. I'm not in favor of what they had too many problems with memory and the environment. Separate the PLAYER from the compiler and things will be simpler.

  It would be a cool app and obviously there are companies that do this, but your business model should dictate that you decide to take, not the technology of management.

  I would like to create a button custom as a master, so that if I change the look of the master all other buttons are changed.

  I did it with a custom control, such as a 'type strict def' otherwise the look will change , BUT if I do this as a strict type def I can't change the Boolean text more which should be different on each button.

  In regards to your panoramas... free Photo Story 3 can a pan
  side to side... just set a start and an end point. However... Photo
  History cannot import videos... just photos.

  This is not a full tutorial, but should be enough to help you started...

  First be sure that the photo is less than 7200 x 7200 pixels pixels.

  Import a panoramic photo in Photo Story 3 and move on
  the screen "tell your photos and customize the animation."

  On the left, click Custom animation...

  video clips in DVD Maker to create your DVD. If you have
  problems with the video clips you may need to convert to MP4
  paste them into WMV format before importing in creation of DVD.

• Creating Instances of symbols containing an image dynamically resolved - need help

  I'm working on a prototype site which has many images flown in the navigation. Each image is unique, but the code rollover and rollout is identical. I am trying to create a unique symbol which can be used for all the bearings, but need help to figure this out, because it will considerably speed up my work. I think that the pseudocode would work like this: Create a symbol that contains a default rollover image. In the symbol, add the code rollover and rollout. To set the transparency of 0 - > 100 and back. Create instances of the symbol on each element of the NAV. For each instance, set a variable containing the name of the rollover image to use. In this instance of symbol, get the value of the variable. In this instance of symbol, use the image name in the variable to replace the default image. Question: How do the job 4 to 6 step? I have 1-3 working smoothly. P.S. my last work of dev is waaaaay returns with the Director, PHP and ColdFusion. I still get basic principles such as the use of the functions, instances, objects, inheritance, etc., but the language has changed. And I have very very little experience with the DOM. Appendix: How I do it manually There is a background image of the NAV showing all unselected States Each element of the net asset value has a rollover image in a series of elements on the nav element. Each bearing has initially set to 0% opacity. Each element of a rollover image, deployment and click triggers. Triggers rollover and deployment are the same for each. There is also a little more code with deployment that provides a quick fade. It means a lot to copy same code. I hate the idea of having to change any part of this code. Thank you! Chassy

  A big thank you Tim (?)!  You saved me a lot of hours on this project.  I'm still learning more jQuery / javascript behind Edge.  Could you assess if my interpretation of the loop content is accurate?  This is my understanding of the code is more limited:

  • SYM. $(array_btns [i]) - access to jQuery object associated with the element of border.
  • MouseEnter (...), - the content define the code to be executed during the passage of the mouse.
  • {obj:array_btns [i]} - refers to the element in the jQuery object, represented by the symbol of edge
  • function {...} - function to run on the given event within the given object/symbol.  The role of the "e" parameter is something I'm not clear on that.  The flow of the code, it seems to represent the edge symbol that contains the element that will be affected by the code.
  • var = e.data.obj BTN - implements a variable to refer to the side of edge.  I think it is the same symbol as number 1 above.
  • sym.getSymbol (btn).$("over").fadeIn (500) - runs the jquery code for fade in at the moment the jQuery "over" event is triggered.

  Also, I'm about to start testing to see if it works in nested symbols.   I guess compositionReady Trigger for each symbol, I can create a [array_btns] and then call sym.getComposition () .setup_btns ()?
