  (VMware Shared Folders) vmhgfs driver will not work with ESX or ESXi, it is only for the workstation, Fusion, a player of nd. I would put in a virtual firewall that denies all access and dev environment, until you're ready to share data.

  You can then open a port on the firewall and have a system to capture these data via the port. The alternative is to use something like a Keyspan USB hub IP and write data on a USB key, and then physically move to the side of the "production" of the House.

  In general I find instead of much easier virtual firewall... VMsafe even won't work here.

• CentOS Linux VMware Tools cannot cancel install cannot vMotion

  I'm running CentOS 6.5 and have successfully installed vmtools. I need vmotion my servers, but I get the error "VM is to install VMware Tools and cannot launch a migration operation.

  I already did the "vim - cmd vmsvc/tools.cancelinstall < idnum >" command, but still cannot vmotion.

  I tried to re-mounting/remove the cdrom and unplugging the CD, but not luck.

  Don't know what to try next. Ideas?

  I use only VMware tools and always uninstall first Open Virtual Machine Tools and also use - clobber-kernel-modules = if necessary when installing the VMware Tools on the distributions that have Open Virtual Machine Tools installed.

  Good, our guys installer described workaround for me:

  2. Mount the ISO image (winPre2k.iso in the folder of installation of VMware Workstation) tools. (Or just choose "VM > install VMware Tools" in the menu, which will automatically mount the image).

  3. If autorun is enabled, it will trigger setup.exe, which will break.  Ignore this.  Right click on the CD drive, select 'Open' and then double-click on the file "VMware Tools.msi".

I met at the start of the problems trying to download the VPC file on the MS site as asked me to run Windows Genuine Advantage validation routines and after downloading the exe file, I got the following error message: "this version of the Windows Genuine Advantage tool is no longer supported. Please download the latest version and make sure that your system clock is accurate.
  I found a way to get the files downloaded and installed, but every time I run them I get the above message.

• How will I know if a host is associated with a vCenter Server

  Once my 5.0 ESXi host is managed by / code with a vCenter server, there are some commands that you can perform only through the vCenter.

  In particular, all-hard drive size, whole-controller SCSI and Set-VMReservations.

  In case my vCenter is down, I would leave my script (PowerCLI 5.5r1) with a mistake that these operations cannot be executed until start of vCenter or the host that contains the virtual machine is no longer active with vCenter.  I think it's safe to let the user decide how he wants to move forward in this case and not build it in my script.

  Is there a cmdlet to ask the host if it is associated with a vCenter Server?  When you use VI Client to connect to the host, you can see the link in the lower right part of the Summary tab that says "separate host to vCenter Server...". ».

  The get-VMHost cmdlet seems like it should have this info, but I was not able to find.

  I am creating a thinapp for IE8 so our users can get back to IE8 if they fall into compatibility problems when we switch to IE 10 or 11 of the EI.   The thinapp I created works very well on my current image with IE 8 natively installed but when I update Native IE 8 to 10 or 11 I get the following error

  I have installation AE to my current computer to a TV (Adobe Monitor 1). I want to do is keep a model specific to the TV while I change one of its comps in a separate window on my computer screen comp. With mercury pass, the image transmitted on television is still tied to my selected calendar.

  Normally when I work with two comps, I lock among the viewers of the model so that the AE pass the image when I pass a calendar to change the demo. I would like to be able to lock the model transmitted on television, so that I can change the demo on my primary monitor and see the direct differences on the computer on the TV.

  This is possible in after effects CC 2015. You can "lock" a specific composition for external video preview by clicking the switch Viewer in the lower left corner of the Composition Panel. This switch also blocks the audio output of this composition.

  The switch Viewer is new in after effects CC 2015. After effects CC 2014 and earlier versions, the switch always found this view (also in the lower left corner of the Composition Panel) will act as the "lock" for the external video preview, in addition to its standard to choose what view of composition to use when you start a snapshot. In after effects CC 2015, now you can separately control these behaviors.

• UCS Plugin - How will I know if a blade is associated with related?

  I use the Plugin UCS to associate a Service profile with a blade. When I do, the function call returns immediately. But I want to wait that the blade be associated before proceeding. How to figure out when the blade is made combining? The UcsmBlade.status parameter is not good, it returns without return Null.

  General question: How can I determine what Application is using a certain file extension? Some are well known, such as .doc for MS Word, MS Excel .xls, PDF for Adobe Acrobat. But is there a master list somewhere which is viewable by the general public?
  This question came from what I was gettnig low disk space on my hard drive and do some research, and found a group of 5 files with extension. ECW, for a total of almost 50 MB. After trying for a few hours to find on the Web, what type of program may have created these files, I let fall, back up the files on a CD and has deleted and restarted. So far, no bad consequences, but still a little scary.
  I think that all software manufacturers should have to register their extensions with MicroSoft, correct? To repeat: is there a list published, or how to find this information in the future?
