  IMAP mail is synchronized with the server, if you copy the folder, to synchronize the folder with the server and deletes the mail.

  That's exactly how IMAP is supposed to work

  Now if you copy them into "Local Folders" in the folder mail instead of the original location then you should see them without any synchronizations removing like local folders in the footsteps of an IMAP account.

  That's what I tried and it didn't work. When I connect to my account via the talktalk page it still has none of my posts and when I tried to get gmail went looking for him said he did nothing.
