  4. Click the Browse button
  5. Navigate to the executable file for PSE8 (probably something like C:\Program Adobe Photoshop Elements 8\PhotoshopElements.exe), and then click Open
  6. Back to screen 'Open with', check the box "Always use the selected program to open this type of file"
  7. Click OK

  For some reason any in CS5 when I choose open default file to view "list" in Windows XP. I put my windows, so they all have the same point of view (detailed view) in the control panel.   Near as I can tell, after doing a bunch of research on the Internet, always default list view dialog box in Windows XP.  Apparently the changes have been made to Vista to remember the last setting, but which does not apply to XP.

  I couldn't find all the config settings or anywhere registry tweaks that would change the behavior of file open dialog to set up view details by default.

  I, however, ran through a downloadable freeware utility called 'FileOpenPatcher' who patched the commdlg32.dll file in Windows XP ONLY , so you will see more columns of information by default in the Windows File-Open dialog boxes.  I tested it with Photoshop Elements, I had installed on a Windows XP virtual machine.  Apparently he sticks some values in the DLL to change values by default, and it seems to work on XP SP3.

  If you have published your site to Business Catalyst and consider using Business Catalyst to host your site, you can change the home page of your site in the section "Settings of Site-> Site domain" your Business Catalyst site administration console. This will make the page changed to open first when the site is accessed.   Before moving on to my new Mac, I was able to open files in their original applications when I clicked on the edit the Original button at the bottom of the links Panel. But now everything - TIFF, EPS, and PDF - opens in preview mode before because it's the default application to open files of any link and it's really frustrating. How can I change so I can open Photoshop files in Photoshop, Illustrator EPS and PDF files in Acrobat. I know I can always go to the drop down menu to choose Edit with..., and then choose an application but I'm so used to click the button modify the Original.

  In the graph select Finder, command prompt I (file > Get Info) open with: desired application and select "replace all".
