How to connect a TM backup after clean install, different user name
I did a clean install of Mac OS X of El Capitan. The username for the admin account is different than the original. Therefore, Time Machine does not recognize my old backup and threatens to erase it and start again on this disc. So I disabled the TM backups for now, until she started.
How can I me Time Machine to reconnect with the old backup and add it please?
You could add the old admin account to your current installation. You don't use it so it essentially becomes a dormant account, but in my opinion, it's a good idea to have at least two accounts of administrators in case one is watered. Or if you have everything you need on your current installation and that you don't need anything the former back ups, let TM clear back ups old and start again.

I changed the username on my laptop and it is not letting me log
Here you go:
- Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
- Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
- Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
- Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
- Select 'Repair' when prompted.
- When you are prompted, select System Restore.
- Configure Windows to a point before you have changed the user name.
- Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

When google for a solution based on this error code I found nothing.Thank you very much for your help,
see you soonWhat were the problems you saw that you thought a "clean install" of Windows XP could solve?
This "clean install" included formatting the HARD drive?
The "clean install" left you with WinXP WinXP SP1, WinXP SP2 or WinXP SP3 gold (no Service Pack)?
What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription? What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications? What third-party firewall (if applicable)?
A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a test free version comes preinstalled when you buy it and that would have been reinstalled, but invalid, when you did the clean install)?

Original title: the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password.__To to connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.
I am trying to connect to a remote drive. I clicked to map the drive, entered the name of the drive, came the name of login/password for the computer turns on and then it give me this error message: the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password. To connect using a different user name and password, first disconnect any existing mappings to this network share.
In Windows 7 Enterprise, I would like to point out that, if you map \\server1\share1 as drive letter X using "user1" and "password1", then try to map \\server1\share2 (a different share) as drive letter Y using the same ID "User1" and "password1" and you select 'connect using different credentials' in the dialog box connect a network drive and specify the id "User1" and "password1". you will get this error MESSAGE INCORRECT that says 'the specified network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password'.
The message is bad because:
1. the specified network (action2 in my example) folder is not mapped at all, and
2. the server (in my example, "server1") is already mapped (to a different and different drive letter share) using the SAME user name and password.
The error message is wrong in two respects.
This let me puzzled for a while until I realized that once you have mapped to 'Server1' using the credentials, you can map to different actions on the same server without re - specify the credentials. It is NOT CLEARLY the 'Map network drives' dialog box, which leads to users (like me, and I'm a programmer by trade) trying to enter credentials again and this incorrect error message.

How to "replenish" my iphone backup after being hard drive recovery
Hello. (its my first time here)
My windows 10 was then I copied all my data off the coast and decided to do a reset. It was only after I realized that my iphone backup was on it. Now would not be a problem on a normal day like what I have to do is just to backup my iphone again and have a backup on my computer. Now here's the twist, I sold my iphone last week and expect to buy one this week, so I did not have a working version as well. In any case, I immediately made a recovery of data on my hard drive using recuva and now I have different files from my hard drive that have all looks Greek to me. I have nothing else except my itunes files supported. So, how can I filter all my backups of itunes on the recovered data file and put them together to get a job to the top?
All suggestions will be of a great help for me
Hello rahish_J,
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.
I understand that you have used a data recovery program to restore the data, and now you want to recover your iPhone back ups. I suggest that you put the backups of your recovered data in the location of the file below, which should appear as an option to restore from iTunes.
Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10
Find device backups in \AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ \Users\ (user name)
For quick access to the Application Data folder:
- Locate the search bar.
Windows Vista or Windows 7: click Start.
Windows 8: click the magnifying glass in the upper right.
Windows 10: Click the search bar, next to the Start button. - In the search bar, type:
%AppData%\protector.exe - Press return.
- Double-click these files: Apple Computer > MobileSync > Backup.
Find and manage your iTunes backups
Take care.
- Locate the search bar.

How to speed up the process of updating after clean install
original title: updates after a clean install
I just performed a facility clean my machine that runs Vista Home Basic Edition and is now trying to download all the updates it has had over the past three years (ex-factory).
However it will slowly (no surprise) and I was wondering is there something I could do to speed up the process. Currently, I am just by clicking on start - Windows Update and let it download what they want from there. However I have noticed saying she "Download 80 updates", it installs then say 5 of those, restarts and then says "Download 75 updates"-have I really downloaded updates and then lost 80 them, or he really download only 5?
I also thought the oldest download first, but I can't seem to find an opption to do this - is - it possible? It seems just stupid for me to download updates of 2010 before those of 2008 (assuming that's what he does lol!)
All advice or pointers that would help to do that, go a little faster would be immensely appreciated.

Q
Start by installing the latest Service Pack (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935791). You'll have so far fewere updtes to install.
Also note the following regarding your answer to the question of PA Bear "clean install has been through choice. After 3 years machine has become bloated and slow, and I decided to wipe them fresh, start over and give up unused programs that seemed a good idea at the time. » :
In my view, it is usually a mistake. With a minimum of care, it should never be necessary to reinstall Windows (Vista or any version). I ran Windows 3.0, 3.1, WFWG 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 now, each for the period of time before the next release is out and everyone on two or more machines here. I never reinstalled none of them (with one exception--a problem that I worked on for weeks without success), and I've never had anything more than an occasional minor problem.
It is my belief that this erroneous notion comes from the technical support people in most of the major OEMs. Their solution to almost any problem, for they know not quickly answer is "reformat and reinstall. It is the ideal solution for them. It gets you phone turned off quickly, it almost always works, and it does not need to do any real troubleshooting (a skill that most of them has obviously not in any great degree).
But it leaves you with all the work and all the problems. You must restore all backups of your data, you must reinstall all of your programs, you must reinstall all Windows and updates of the application, you must locate and install all the necessary drivers for your system, you will need to recustomize Windows and all your applications to work the way you are comfortable with.
In addition to all these things being long and painful, you may encounter difficulties with some of them: you will find all your CDs application? You will find all the necessary installation codes? You have data backups to restore? You still remember all the customizations and settings that can be installed to make everything work the way you like it? Sometimes there are problems that are so difficult to resolve that Windows has to be reinstalled properly. But they are few and far between; RESETTLEMENT should not be a substitute for troubleshooting; It should be a last resort, to do that once all other troubleshooting by qualified person attempts have failed.
And perhaps most important: If you reformat and reinstall without knowing what caused your problem, you will most likely repeat the behavior that caused it and quickly find yourself in exactly the same situation.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.
- Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
- Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
- Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
- Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

Possible hard drive after clean install failure
Appreciate it really all thoughts on this issue, because it drives me crazy and apparently get worse...
I added 8 GB of RAM and an SSD Samsung 840 PRO in a Mac mini in 2011 about three years ago. At the time, the Fusion drive has just been introduced, and I found the online instructions to configure the combo HD SSD/existing as a Fusion player. After ironing out a few bugs, it worked perfectly (at least from the point of view of the user) for nearly three years. Significant speed increase, could handle more intensive applications of multiple users, etc.
Three weeks ago, I decided to do a clean install. I wanted to get rid of all accumulated waste, as well as some of the Notification Center widgets don't work properly. Immediately I noticed the startup time is longer, but once connected, all seemed well. Just moved old files to the new system from a Time Machine backup, and everything worked well. In disk utility, it looked as if the OS has created two discs as a Fusion player, so I left as what.
A week ago, I started notice stuttering in the downloaded movies in iTunes, which never happened before. Around the same time I started having the spinning beachball while running almost nothing: Safari with less than 10 tabs open (no video game), iTunes (inactive), Mail, etc... Impose anything. I performed first aid in disk utility and found no problem. I kept the activity monitor for the last 24 hours with nothing significant, other apps does not not showing the spinning ball.
I saw someone else evoke here EtreCheck, so I did that and got two red warnings:
Macintosh HD (2) /: 621,05 go-go (295,75 free) - 31 errors
Drive failure!
This error arose in both sections of the HD, as shown below:

I guess at this point that OS X put in place the incorrect Fusion drive, causing conflicts... But I don't know what to do about this. I have several backups, so this isn't a problem.
This community is a great resource, thank you to everyone who adds. As I said, I'd like to advice for this...
I think it is obvious that you have a disk failure. Could be the SSD, HD, or both.

Time machine access after a clean installation with different user name
Hello
I did a clean install upgrade to El Capitan in Yosemite. I chose a user name. How can I connect my new account to the old Time Machine?
thx for your help
Rainer
Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.
If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.
The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.
The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.
Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.
The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.
Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.
Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

GarageBand and idvd is el capitan after clean install missing
Hello
After the new installation of OSX El Capitan, I'd install the gray DVD application, only GarageBand and iDVD.
The installer said that the programming block is not compatible with OSX version and it is better to give up.
What should I do?
If the installer we will install, install both applications. Then update the Apple Support downloads (Apple - Support - downloads) page to the most recent versions.
You need GarageBand 6.0.5 (GarageBand 6.0.5) and iDVD 7.1.2. (Download iDVD 7.1.2) Both will run on El Capitan, but are are no longer officially supported.
If the installation program does not allow you to install, restore your backup applications. But you need to restore the library support files as well:
- / Library/Application Support/GarageBand.
- / Library/Audio/Apple Loops /.
- I can't remember what iDVD may need as files support.
It is risky to do a clean install, if you are not sure, if your installers will be compatible with the system you are migrating to. A clean install is usually necessary if you have installed software that has damaged your system.

How should I keep my new user well that store the same name and all that stuff? If I can access encrypted files?
If you do not back up your certificate, then you must connect to your machine using the original profile/user who created the encrypted files. Then, you should back up your encryption certificate. Then, log in as a new user and import that certificate into the backup that you created. It is covered in the following Microsoft KB article. Pay attention to the paragraphs "Why you should back up your certificates" and "how to back up your certificates. If you cannot connect as the creator of the encrypted files and/or do not have a backup of the certificate, probably you have lost access to these files permanently.
"Best practices for EFS file system.

Windows Vista will not be validated after clean install
Windows key, title: product original vesta H P,.
buy windows key, product vesta p h, it will not be validated after a clean installation, only to discover, to upgrade only, that cost me $ 160 in two, three years ago, can aney help, how to fix this, davie.
Hi David,
Install and activate the original operating system provided with the computer first (I guess it's XP).
Update to upgrade to Vista, then use the Vista product key that you used at the time to update (because it works now as you WILL upgrade and do not try to install only a facility full after an installed clean).
Good luck!
