  I did as you suggested and ran in safe mode. Then began to allow add-ons and found in the theme I was using. So I removed the theme and so far their has no pop-up ads or open a new page. I think that I am free of this infection. I'll look at it very close and I of course will be more careful where I get my downloads in the future.
