How to hide or lock a favorite/bookmark folder?
I imported my bookmarks from Chrome folder, but it contains far too many bookmarks to sort/tidy, them (it contains other unorganized folders too) so I was wondering if there is a way to 'hide' or 'lock' the folder so it's always there in the bookmarks menu/unsorted bookmarks / whatever, but any of the bookmarks show when I search something in the address bar.
I know that you can disable suggestions for bookmarks, but I still want to use this feature.
The point is not to mark these bookmarks in bookmarks (library) Manager, but store them in a HTML file that you open in a Firefox tab, or possibly in the sidebar using a bookmark to open this file and have this option checked.

How to hide some of my favorites sometimes?
Sometimes, I want to hide some of my favorites. How can I do? Thanks in advance!
Hello
There is no simple way to do it. But depending on what you want to do, you can try one of the following conditions:
- Create a new Firefox profile for hidden bookmarks. Only enter this profile when you want to see them. See here for instructions.
- Create a separate password on your PC user account and not save to it, when you want to display hidden bookmarks
- Use a portable version of Firefox and install it on a USB key. Then run it on the USB when you want to access the hidden bookmarks. You can even encrypt the USB for extra protection. See here.
- Use a bookmarking service online for example del.icio.us for hidden bookmarks. They will appear with your standard bookmarks.
I hope that one of those who will help. Let me know if not.

Safari and Firefox needs ways to enable/disable/hide (the menu and via shortcuts) tabs, Favorites (bookmarks) bar, (and bar address [which do not have Safari]), so that they are visible to a person who you show your screen not visible on just one full screen. Yes, you can expose a screenshot that excludes one or more of these bars, but it is a nuisance to have to do, and in any case, that still leaves the problem of the bars being visible to other people who show you your screen.
The extension does not hide the toolbars?
On Mac in mode full screen isn't really full screen and don't cache not toolbars like on Windows and Linux.
There are extensions to hide specific toolbars if you can't do via "view > toolbars".

How to hide icons in the Bookmark Bar to conserve space?
You want to maximize the use of space of the bookmarks bar. Y at - it an option to view only the text and hide icons in the BB? When the screen real estate is at a premium, even on a 17 "in 1920 x 1200 laptop, that would be helpful.
My apologies if this problem is corrected in an updated version 5.0.x. I use 3.6.x to avoid the problem.

How can I get rid of the bookmark icons
On the toolbar, but ALL this favorite icons. I hate them. Do not need them.
Is there a simple setting somewhere in Firefox to handle this? If this isn't the case, it might be something they would consider to add in the future to turn them off in the options or something?
The only thing I've seen so far is an add-on that removes them from the toolbar. I would like all parties in all menus of bookmark and would rather not have to install other 3rd party applications to achieve.
I'm using the Windows version 14.0.1
Thanks in advance for any help someone can offer.
You may need to create a custom style rule to change the bookmarks Menu. You can do this by using the extension either elegant or creation/modification of a file named userChrome.css in your personal settings folder (AKA Firefox profile).
Examples of these rules are included in these discussions:
- Specific to the bookmarks toolbar: How to hide favicons on my bookmarks bar?
- More general, probably covers the menu as well: hide favicons in the bar bookmarks - mozillaZine Forums
- On userChrome.css: http://www-archive.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html#usercss

How can I get all my favorites on a SINGLE LIST
You have assigned my favorites at least 3 different lists for example unordered, recent and at least one other. How you can get them in a single list where I can sort them alphabetically. I don't have this problem when I used XP but with windows 7, they seem to go where randomly.
By clicking on the star in the toolbar navigation go to bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star lights in blue to show that.
If the URL in the active tab is set bookmark and the star on the Navigation bar is blue highlighted, then click on this highlighted star or use the bookmark «»
Bookmarks > 'Bookmark this Page' (Ctrl + D) going to bookmark the page in the folder of bookmarks Menu (you will need to confirm that)
'Bookmark this Page' is accessible via the context menu in the area through the bookmarks menu or navigation in the menu or Firefox menu button drop-down bar (Alt + B)You can move all bookmarks in the folders not sorted and possibly the Bookmarks Toolbar in the Menu folder bookmarks.
You can use the SHIFT key to select a range of bookmarks, you do not need to move each bookmark separately. -
How can I search the name of a folder of bookmarks?
I can find the name of a bookmarks folder that I created back to the top of my favorites, and the searches the .json and then looking for the parents of the entry I find, but it's very tedious. There is an extension that claims to do this research named "Awesome search Extension", but I can't understand how to use it.
It is such a common need that I think that Mozilla would add this feature to Firefox itself.
Shamefully, it does not seem to be any decent Firefox solution/add on to these very simple features. It is indeed annoying, because I just recently migrated from Opera to Firefox after 10 years to use Opera, mainly because its decently developed bookmarks UI Manager. In the opera, the bookmarks (consisting of my thousands of bookmarks) directory tree is reduced in real-time by typing the letters one by one in the search box. At the same time, all parent folders open in the tree. And of course, the entries are not only from the beginning of a Word, but also everywhere where there is the substring. In addition, the search also matches folder names, not only of the names of bookmarks...

How to remove the Unsorted Bookmarks folder
I tested FF 6.0 beta and when you click on bookmarks there is something called "Unsorted Bookmarks" at the bottom of the list (column).
If you right-click to delete you can't do.
Someone has any idea how to remove this option?
I'm not on my FF 5.0 or not has I saw on another browser of FF until now.
My modules are IE Tab2 and status-4-Evar
The Unsorted Bookmarks folder is where the bookmarks are created if you click on the star on the address bar to bookmark the current site.
You cannot delete this folder, but you can hide this menu entry in the bookmarks menu in the Firefox App menu with code in userChrome.css
Add code to userChrome.css below @namespace.
See:
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */ #appmenu_bookmarksPopup menuseparator[builder="end"], #appmenu_unsortedBookmarks, #bookmarksMenuPopup menuseparator[builder="end"], #menu_unsortedBookmarks, #BMB_bookmarksPopup menuseparator[builder="end"], #BMB_unsortedBookmarks {display:none!important;}
