How to permanently remove a tab called 'new tab' but is a blank Page?

Whenever I turn on my computer, I click on my Firefox icon in the taskbar in low, BUT, not only does my homepage tab appear, but lately I have been see another tab appears beside it, called 'New tab' but it is empty. I did not how he showed all of a sudden upward, but I can't seem to get rid of it. I right click and 'close tab', but I have to do everytime I turn on my computer. Is there a way to permanently remove this tab so it isn't keep appearing on my tab bar?

When involuntary tabs open when Firefox starts, shows generally that you must check your Firefox home page settings.     Your child page does not contain editable regions, if it was not attached to a model.  Maybe you nest templates which is the wrong thing to do.

    Go in modify > templates > detach model.

    It doesn't seem like Messenger have the ability to disable this option. Editing the registry appears as a possible solution. Editing the registry when done incorrectly can have serious detrimental effects on your system. Do so at your own risk. I can say that I followed the instructions here...

    You can change the pref browser.newtab.url and change the value to http://foxnews.com

    Also, make sure that the new tab page is selected, the browser.newtabpage.enabled must be true.
