I use the extension "backup bookmark" to save my... saved passwords signons3.txt cert8.db, key3.db and signons2.txt signons.sqlite. I have a week with a value of backups.   Hi, it seems I solved the problem by trying to downgrade to 3.6.3 using synaptic. for some reason, instead of decommissioning, it just uninstall the following six packages:

  Firefox
  Firefox-3. 5.
  Firefox - 3.5 - branding
  Firefox - 3.5 - gnome-support
  Firefox-branding
  Firefox-gnome-support

  then I went to try again to install firefox (it installed 3.6.8), but only the two following packages installed:

  Firefox (3.6.8 + build1 + nobinonly - 0ubuntu0.10.04.1)
  Firefox-branding (3.6.8 + build1 + nobinonly - 0ubuntu0.10.04.1)

  now all my passwords are appearing again (whew!) guess it was just a bad update or something...

  You can try to remove your password by following these instructions.

  1. Safe boot mode.
  2. Sign in with the built-in Administrator account.
  3. Open the start menu, click your user account picture.
  4. Click on manage another account.
  5. Click on your account you want to remove the password.
  6. Click Remove password. Confirm the changes.
  7. Now, you will be able to log on to your user account.

  NOTE: You must create the password reset disk after you open a session to avoid losing access to your account.

  I used a size of file Analyzer and it showed me that the cache files from lightroom elements adobe support and the Prime Minister have been covering more than 50 GB each - so that allowed me to pick up a lot of space!
