  Very simple stuff. You can't just do it with a single layer.

  Set up text with each statement on a separate layer, you can just animate the position of the text. You can configure this animation with the transformation properties, or with text animations. There is information on these two methods in the help files.

  For outline of distress, I Ctrl-click the text layer to load as a selection and added a layer mask.  I then used Distort > glass on the layer mask.  You can see that I moved the layer of Conflagration (CRT) compared to the text layer, get the best texture.  Otherwise, exactly what Dave said...   You need the text underlined and then transformed into a transparent traces and a few lines on top.

  Select all, then click on the pathfinder "Fracture." Then move the shapes.
