How to remove Deals4u of Firefox on Ubuntu

It seems that my Firefox has been infected by the malware Deals4u. It seems to be contained in only Firefox since I am running Xubuntu, it is extremely unlikely that the "system" is infected. I tried other browsers using the same pages and there is no sign of infection.

I am running Mozilla Firefox Firefox 39.0.3 for Canon Ubiuntu - 1.0 on Xubuntu 14.04.

Any suggestions of support are for Windows or Mac (no), but it doesn't seem to be all talk about what is in the browser. I did check my Add-ons and don't see anything here (I have not tried to go to about: config as I'm not sure what to look for).

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for the hos remove this?

Thank you!

This seems to have fixed:

Hello, I am wary of some of your extensions, please Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

If the problem is caused by an extension, once it has been removed or disabled, you may need to run SearchReset to restore your settings.

  • How to remove password from Firefox?

When downloading something else, this add-on called view password has been installed in some way. I have the option to disable tab Firefox Add ons, but I don't get the option to remove it. How can I remove it completely?

  • How to remove yahoo from firefox?

When I search something in the search at the top of the browser, it takes me to a list of items in google. When I click on the Web site in the search list, it takes me to a site that I want to see and then a second later it takes me to yahoo.
That seems to only happen when I use the search bars in the browser.

Any ideas of how I can stop this?

It is difficult to follow this URL for Yahoo, but a potential culprit is a plugin or extension (for example, a 'Community Toolbar' extension).

You can check your plugins and extensions on page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. For those who don't are not essential for the next 48 hours (any other most Shockwave Flash), set them never 'enable '.

In the left column, click Extensions. For those who are not essential for the next 48 hours, click "disable". In the case of a double, "Disable."

You may need to quit and launch Firefox back before these changes take full effect. Any improvement?

  • How to upgrade my browser Firefox with Ubuntu?

Yahoo no longer works with my old Firefox browser.

    I only work with ubuntu.

where can I get an upgrade?

    Thank you!

You could try to update your version of distro (Canon) of Firefox but IIRC the version of Ubuntu, you seem to be on 8.04 LTS (Lucid) cannot provide official updates of Firefox (or probably other software such as Open Office/LibreOffice).

You can switch to a new version of Ubuntu, possibly 12,04 LTS (accurate). I use. Accurate will a newer version of Firefox, which updated the Installer Firefox distribution.

The other alternative is to install Mozilla Firefox. Who will install an additional browser. For purposes of comparison and evaluation, I also run several versions of Mozilla Firefox. Let me know if you need further information.

You may need to consider using a second profile Firefox, or the transfer of bookmarks etc between versions of Firefox or the operating system.

  • How to remove the tab "Firefox" to XP?

I can get rid of it in the first window of FF if I activate "menu bar". However, this does not work when I open a new window of the first FF window.

I hate everything simply because it is a window within a window when this "Firefox" tab appears. This means you get two sets of minimize, maximize and X buttons!

    Any idea pls?

    Thank you

Try mode without failure of Firefox.

A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    1. You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    2. Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.

If it's good in Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

  • How to remove a Word from the default dictionary of firefox?

How to remove a Word from the default dictionary of firefox?
If I wanted to remove the word 'dog' or 'and' for example

There may be a range of reasons for wanting to do this, including the deletion of the words you use rarely as similar to other common spellings used words for example. "minute" and "Minuet", delete the words that you find personally offensive, or removing words that, because of linguistic or cultural background, you would not consider words at all.

Note that I'm not asking how to remove my 'dictionary' words, words that I added myself.

    Hello

I talked to a few people and I think I'm able to help you with this.

There are two dictionary files, the default that comes with your version of Firefox and personal 'custom' that you create yourself with phrases and words.

    If you want to change the personal;

    1. Copy Subject: support and paste into the address bar.
    2. Next to the profile folder, click the marked File Show
    3. Find the file persdict.dat. Rename a text file, open, modify, re save it as persdict.dat and replace.

If you want to change the default dictionary, it could be more of a problem and a lot more technique to do. I would recommend that you look at the problem differently and consider filtering of pages based on inappropriate content using Add-ons such as ProCon Latte Content Filter.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look at another solution for you.

  • a new icon appers on tools on the toolbar after the Firefox update. It says not 'connected '. What is it? How to remove it?

After that I updated Firefox to ver.16.0.1, on the right side of the toolbar a small icon appeared! When I click this, it says no 'connected '. I tried to remove it using customize, but nothing happened, it's still there. I don't know what is it and how to remove it! Help me please! Thank you very much!

Try dragging this button in the toolbar palette.

Alternatively, you can check for problems with the file localstore.rdf.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do not click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.
