How to remove HDD on Satellite A35-s159

How to remove the hard drive on this laptop?

Hi Barbara,

I believe A35 are the United States, the equivalent of the European A30 in which case the hard disk is located below the optical drive that will have to be removed first. This is usually held with a screw that can be accessed from the bottom of the laptop (mine is numbered F5 on the case). The optical drive will then be able to slide toward the front of the laptop and the hard drive will be accessible (attached with four screws.

Kind regards

I need to recover data from a hard drive on a SA30 Satellite that has a broken power Jack & battery, so my only option seems to be to remove the HDD & recover data using a USB enclosure. Trouble is, I can't find a service manual & would rather not disassemble the laptop without having a. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

    Hi Alan,

The hard drive on your A30 is located under the optical drive. To remove unscrew the F5 screws on the bottom of your computer laptop and make then slide the optical drive transfers out of its location. You will then be able to see the hard drive that is attached with the four Phillips screws (2 on each side). Unscrew the four screws and then carefully slide the hard drive toward the front of the laptop to release the connector.

  • Re: How to prevent shutdown when closing lid Satellite A35-S159?

    I just inherited a Toshiba Satellite A35 - s159.I am running XP.

When I close the lid, Windows stops.
I like to keep things on, to be able to receive the updates and downloads.
I see nothing in the 'control panel' to allow me to do.

In Control Panel, there is "Toshiba power settings" but I seem not to be able to find a way to change a setting in there to keep things running with the lid closed.

I see a PIN on the display cover that comes in contact with a switch when it is closed, then the computer shuts down.

Someone at - it take this component out of sharpening? Is this the only solution?

    Hello

You may disable this option in the settings of Toshiba Power Saver!
    This is without any doubt.

I put t know what Toshiba Power Saver you but my Power Saver contains two tabs:
    Basic configuration and installation Actions.

The Actions of the installer tab contains options and then I find the parameter called when I close the lid.
I put this setting to no action.

Now, I can close the lid and the laptop would still go and wouldn t stop or go in the booth of fashion.

Hi, I have a Satellite A35-S159. I willl work in Australia for next year and I came across some information recently that said to check if your laptop would work in Australia?

Does anyone know if this brand is a "Global Modem" or I have to buy a 'Local PC Card Modem' on my arrival.

    Thank you

    Hello

    should normally no problem.

You should check if the power adapter is compatible with the Australian powersockets and tension!

For the modem Toshiba provides in europe of a country selection utility to configure the modem for a special country! I think that your Satellite is an American model in order to have to look at http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/home.to

  • Satellite 1100: How to remove HDD?

    Help!

corrupt Windows operating system so won't boot up in normal ways then were recommended to remove the hard drive and put it in an external enclosure.
So I can it connect to another pc in order to save documents etc. before using the recovery disk.

However I do not know how to remove it because it doesn't seem to be a small cover on the bottom. It is a portable satellite 1100. Any help welcome.

    Hello

To my knowledge it s a simple procedure because the HARD drive slot is placed at the bottom of the unit near the extension memory location.
As I remember the cover of the location is fixed with a screw only.
Simply remove everything and you should be able to open the slot!

But look man be careful and do it gently ;)

  • How to change HDD on Satellite Pro 430CDT

Can someone tell me where I could find simple instructions telling me how to take apart my old 430CDT to mount a hard drive more? I think replace drive 1.25 GB - with a 4 or 6 GB hard drive assuming the disks that I may need to adapt.

I guess that the hard drive is hidden somewhere under the keyboard, but may not work on how to remove + that + without damaging it.

I have no real experience of this sort of thing - I did nothing more complicated than the new fitting RAM to a less-ancient A120 and change hard drives around on a Satellite 320.

Archives help, unfortunately, but it's fun to read old press releases and ads and see what was considered as performing just twelve or thirteen years - progress in the design of the computer are fast enough, isn't it? Aware that in a couple of years something with less of a terabyte of HARD drive and a quad-core processor will be also awfully outdated and limited my old 430 you like now.

Absolutely no reason practice for this - just out of curiosity and just for fun.

Any suggestion would be appreciated - thanks in anticipation!

    Hello

Replacing the HARD drive is not difficult.
The HARD drive Bay is placed at the bottom of the unit and you can easily access the HARD disk.

To remove the HARD disk drive, follow the steps below.

    1. turn off the power the computer. Unplug the power cord and all external cables connected to the computer.
    2. remove the two screws that fix the backup of HARD drive to the computer chassis.
3 pull the chassis forward by its handle to disconnect the HARD drive.
    4. remove the frame and the brace with the HARD drive.
    5. remove the four screws that anchor the frame on the HARD drive and separate the frame HARD drive.

    That s it

  • Satellite A35-S159: slow start after restore

A35 S159 purchased with Windows XP. Booted up one day that all the desktop icons are generic, none of them have worked, System Restore is not available and could not run anything from the command line. Used the recovery CD.
He initially thought that it was not started at all, but it will actually start and run normally after 10 minutes of sitting in front of the start screen. After the validation, there is a delay, followed by the white loading bar at the bottom of the screen and then the windows splash screen and the Green loading bar and there it is.

Can boot into safe mode without problem. Tried to go into msconfig, hide or disable all services, disable all startup items and making a selective startup. No change. No problem, indicated in the Device Manager. Ran the diagnosis of hard drive (Hitachi) and who retires.

    What's next?

    Hello

Usually after recovering the unit with the supplied all Toshiba Recovery CD should work properly. For me, this looks like something wrong with the HARD drive, but it is strange that it is possible to boot into safe mode without any delay.

Try to start the 'cmd' in the immediate window. Then try using the chkdsk /F command to check the HARD drive.

  • Re: How to install HDD on Satellite L300-19Y?

    Hi guys

I'm not too good with computers but have bought a new HARD drive for my L-series I've been informed that my HARD drive is maybe broken due to errors when I perform chkdsk checks and the fact that it freezes and crashes randomly.

In any case, could someone tell me how to install the HARD drive? I bought an another similar to the original hitachi in the laptop, that is to say sata, 2.5 ", but got a 250 GB, rather than the 160. What I have to install anything, or have complicated everything to do? I don't know how to install it physically just don't know if I have to use my discs of recovery or something like that?

    Bravo guys

    Hello

There is no difficult things to do to swap the HARD drive. Which is a fairly simple process and he s done in 5 minutes I think.

I have the Satellite L300 in front of me. To swap the HARD drive, turn off the laptop and remove the battery and the AC adapter. On the underside, you can find the cover of the HARD drive which is fixed by 2 screws. Remove the screws and the cover of the HARD drive, you are now able to exchange the HARD drive.

If you have any other questions, please let me know! :)

  • Satellite A35-S159 - can I upgrade the CPU, GPU and HARD drive?

    Hey

I have one in my possession and I wanted to make a good game.

I don't know if I'll be able to cause. It hurts thinking may be able to put a processor duo or quad, and I do not know if the CPU will be able to support a really good graphics card, and I also think about changing hard drive.

Any1 know what hard drives are compatible with what I can use which are good for games?

    Hello!

I m wondering that you want to upgrade this old notebook. In my view, that a new laptop would be a better solution.

On the CPU and GPU upgrade I can only say s is not possible and not Toshiba support. The GPU is soldered on the motherboard and t can be exchanged.
I think you should read this: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

The HARD drive can be upgraded. This isn t a problem.
AFAIK the A35 Satellite is equipped with a s IDE HDD and this means that you buy a drive HARD IDE interface up to 128 GB.

  • How to remove password BIOS (Satellite A30) - Please help

Hello. In the company I work, there is a Toshiba Satellite A30 having a BIOS password.

I was asked to remove the password and, inside the BIOS, I was able to clear the password (at least that is what I thought at first):

BIOS asked the current password and I typed, then requested a new password and I just pressed the ENTER key, and when I was asked to retype the new password I pressed ENTER again.

After that, I saw that BIOS showed "PASSWORD (clear)" and I saved the changes and exit.

To my surprise, I was asked a password even once, I just pressed the ENTER key and it showed an "INCORRECT PASSWORD" message and the same message when I type the old password!

I don't know if there was a password of Toshiba when the computer was purchased, but the manual that I downloaded here does not mention that.

Is there a way to fix this? I do not understand what can happen!

VERY GOOD THANKS in ADVANCE and thanks again for reading.

    Hello

If the correct password is not for you there is no way to remove them. It can be removed only by the authorized service partner. Please contact them and they will do it for you. I guess it can't be expensive.

  • How to remove Vista on Satellite A200-221?

    Hello!

I have read all the threads on this subject, but I can't always get rid of Vista.
I tried the way in which the FDD, but when I click on F6, I know not why, but it just don't work. He did not enter the menu to select another SCSI, Raid...
I tried the nLite too, but does not work either...

    Help :-(

    I have an A200-221.
    Thank you.

    Hello

GParted is don t know for me.
Always is it that your laptop needs to install the SATA driver if you want to install XP on this laptop.
The Intel Matrix Storage Manager contains the SATA drivers, and you can download from the Toshiba page or from the Intel page too.

    Back to the installation procedure.
    You have two options;
You install the SATA drive external floppy driver by pressing the F6 key during XP Setup process or you will create a clean XP CD using the nLite.

The two procedures work for sure. In your case if it n t work properly, then * you did something wrong! *
And I recommend to repeat this procedure over and over again and recommend that you check each bet twice!

You can also erase all partitions in Vista if you want to use the XP.

Hello. I'm new to this forum...
I have a satellite A35-S159. After working on this laptop for quite awhile, it automatically closes without warning. Need help in this regard.

    Hello

Just in brief: it is a typical symptom of overheating. The device cannot be cooled properly and when the temperature is too high unit stops suddenly without any warning. It is because of the material.

Please try to clean the unit. Probably a lot of dust in cooling grill don t allow air circulation.
