How to remove photographs write protection?

I am trying to copy photos to my computer and the external hard drive on a SD card, and each photo is said is "write protected" and delete, or use another disk. He is a recent problem because until a few weeks I never had this problem at all. I am running Windows XP card SD is unlocked and I use a card reader on my Dell D610 laptop. My external hard drive has all my photos on it and I used it for years with no problems whatsoever, so I'm kind of confused as to why this is happening now.  Any help would be appreciated!

Digital images that are 'Read only' can still
be copied... they just cannot be changed and
saved... so it's not the problem.

I suspect that the problem may be due to the
number of files that are copied in the
the root directory of the SD card.

This limit varies depending on the size of the
card, but it is far from full capacity
of the card.

Normally, this generates a dialog box stating:
"The file or directory could not be created.

This can be overcome by placing the files
in the files.

(FWIW... you may need to delete some
files to make room for folders)

More info... to remove the read-only status
from a digital photo, right click on the photo and
in the menu... Choose... Properties... Claire
the. Read-only. box / apply / OK.

  • How to format a write protected removable storage drive?

    Hi all

I just want to ask questions about how I, you or anyone does face this problem, find the solution?
(Removable flash) storage device, is not able to work correctly, I can't add, delete, or format even, a report indicates that this device is protected in writing, that drives me crazy, I can't use it at all. Thank you.

    Hi Yasser,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community!

You can remove your USB flash drive write protection using the method below:

    a. open the Start menu and in the search bar type regedit and press enter. This wil open the registry editor.

    b. navigate to the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the StorageDevicePolicies registry key does not exist, you must create it manually.

    c. in the right window, double-click the registration key and set the value to 0 in the value.

    d. data area, and then press OK button

    e. restart your computer and try to copy files to your USB drives.

    Registry warning:

Sometimes, this problem is due to two Windows that have been corrupted registry entries. To resolve this problem, you must use the registry editor to remove the damaged registry entries.

However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, proceed as in the article:

    Back up the registry

I hope this helps. If the issue is not resolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help you.

  • How can I disable 'write protect' on an external hard drive?

My external hard drive is suddenly now "write-protected", I don't, how do to UN - do, without reformatting everything, Ive looked at properties, etc.; It won't let me save it now.

    Jack

I've seen it before, here's a few things that can help:

    1. This can be caused by malware, are you sure that your machine is clean?

    2. connect your device, right click computer, click Manage > storage > disk management, then right click on the chart in drive to the device and select change drive letter, then change for a more near the end of the alphabet.

    3. change these registry keys, but create a system first, restore point just in case you have problems. Note that the keys do not necessarily exist, so do not create them as it is probably a different issue.

    3.1

Open a run window (Windows Logo key + R), type regedit, hit enter and in the left pane, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies, double click on WriteProtect and change the value to 0 (zero) data.

    3.2

Now, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\StorageDevicePolicies, double click on WriteProtect and change the value to 0 (zero) data.

    3.3

Finally, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\StorageDevicePolicies, double click on WriteProtect and change the value to 0 (zero) data.

  • How to detect the write-protected SD card

    Hi all

I couldn't find the answer to my question, so I started a new thread.

Problem: I would like to as for Labview (or directly TestStand) detect programmatically whether an SD card (secure digital) card has the "write protection" slider switch active.

    Is it possible somehow?

PS: I also couldn't find this information anywhere in Windows 7 as well. I use LV 2011 SP1.

PPS: For the moment I'm trying to create a file on the SD card and detect the clerical error, telling me whether or not the card is protected. But I would like a more elegant solution.

Wow, it's already here for Labview: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2048

  • How clean/remove HPA (hidden protected area) Lenovo/IBM hard disk

I have released an old hard drive to a machine breakdown T41 and want to use the drive as an extra drive (drive D) in my T43 machine.  As with all hard drives T41, there is a hidden to recovery etc. partition.  I would remove this hidden partition to create more space on the old disk T41.  How can I do this? MUCHAS Gracias in advance

    I think you're confusing two different standards of measurement. Hardrive manufacturers measure readers in bytes with 1000 k = 1000 k = m, 1000 m = g, but the windows operating system counts with exponants, if k = 1024 (2 to the 10th power).

A 40 GB hard drive will be approximately 40,000,000,000 bytes, but the operating system sees about 37,25 Go. I know it's confusing, but if my explanation does not clear, so suffice to say there are two different things and you don't miss anything

  • How can I remove a USB write protection

my USB is write-protected how to remove it?

    Hello

What operating system do you use?

Write protection is a feature found on many different types of media. When the write protection is turned on, you will be able to view the information on the disc or USB key, but you won't be able to write or transfer information to it.

Write protection is an element of protection which prevents accidental deletion of important data. Sometimes turning off the write protection is as simple as uncapping the USB key to find a manual switch. If your player lacks an external switch, the procedure requires a few steps to complete.

    (a) turn on your computer and plug the drive after that your operating system is loaded.

    (b) open 'My computer' and the list of readers of research until you find your USB drive letter

    (c) right click on the name, then click 'properties '. Browse the tabs until you see the option to remove the write protection. If this does not work, proceed to the next step.

    (d) visit the website of the company for your USB key. Go to the help or support section and search for "write protect".

    (e) search the Internet for software that will remove the write protection. Download the program and install it on your computer.

    (f) open the software. Follow the instructions to remove your USB write protection.

    I hope this helps.
