  The official way 'Apple' is now really use iCloud.

  I would export all your contacts to your iMac like this: http://osxdaily.com/2015/07/14/export-contacts-mac-os-x/

  Then delete all the contacts of all the devices you have

  Then turn on iCloud contacts on all of these devices

  Then reimport your contacts previously exported to your iMac and it must synchronize everywhere.

  If you synchronize your Contacts via iCloud, the best way to remove duplicates is via the Contacts on your Mac application.   If you do not enable iCloud Drive on your Mac, you can upload files to iCloud by car via the web interface at https://www.icloud.com

  But you can access the files from the web interface and won't icloud drive as drive in the Finder.  You cannot use the Finder to access the files. You need to download it to use.
