How to turn on a virtual machine in a RedHat operating system with xen kernel

OS: RedHat el5.4

Workstation 7.0.0

I have created a virtual machine and when I power on it, it shows: "your run vmware workstation via an incompatible hypervisor.you can not power on a virtual machine until this hypervisor is disable.

Is this something inconsistent with xen?

What can I do to?

The default is ~ / vmware/VMNAME/VMNAME.vmx, where VMNAME is all what you named the virtual machine.

    Hello

, I have in 3 data centers Dell 1850, identical hardware configurations.  I installed Esxi 4.0 to the ISO from site Web de VMware dell custom help. He is successfully installed on all servers, without error at all. I've updated them all to the last generation, using VMware vSphere Client. I have a problem with one of the server when I want to use 64-bit machines, he realizes: this host does not support VT you have configured the virtual machine to use an operating system 64-bit client.  However, this host is not able to run 64-bit virtual machines or virtual computer has 64-bit support disabled. For more information, see http://www.vmware.com/info?id=152. I don't understand why I got this, servers are identical, versions of BIOS, firmware, and all updates are the same. There is also a warning in the configuration tab, on the State of health link.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestion.

Yes according to the description of CPU, it seems that they do not support intel VT:

  • How can I get a virtual machine to see the graphic material?

    Environment:

    1. I use a computer HP Pavilion dv8327us laptop is equipped with a nVidia GeForce Go 7600 graphics card.

    2. I am running VMWare Workstation 7.x

    3. I'm under Ubuntu 10.04 as a virtual machine.

    4. I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 as the host machine.

    Location:

    1. the virtual machine seems not to be able to use advanced graphics card features.

    2. the VM sees the card as a SVGA II adapter.

    3. the virtual machine can't determine the system LCD screen refresh rate.

    4. the virtual machine can't do use an external display.

    Workarounds failed:

    1. an attempt to solve this problem by installing the latest nvidia 260.19.44 graphics driver failed. The installation of this driver has resulted in an error message indicating that no supported hardware can be detected. The conclusion I draw from this is that either or however the machine emule virtual graphic adapter in the system is not quite the same as what is emulated.

    Question:

1 is wrong to think that we could install drivers of graphics cards in a virtual machine and wait to turn the virtual machine to see the graphics card in the same way as the host machine? If Yes, then how can we do?

    2. is it possible for a virtual machine to use an external monitor?

    Thank you.

Virtual machines have graphics cards ATI and NVIDIA - or else.

Use of virtual machines VMware SVGA 2 cards - support or VMware SVGA cards with 3 d

You need the drivers included in the vmware-tools - install other drivers is the sabotage of the machine virtual and not useful!

  • How to back up a virtual machine in ESXi 4.1.0

I realize that it is a totally newb question, but I'll ask anyway.

I have suddenly inherited a VMWare installation a previous administrator and am now presented with a question.  The host VMWare runs on the free version of ESXi4.1.0 and is the only host running on this computer.  Don't currently save us the feedback, but I would like to.  I learned that I need to save at least the VMDK file for this in order to be able to restore it, but can't seem to find the procedure to copy it on the host to a place where I can have a copy.  Someone could shoot me a link or a piece of procedure?

If I remember correctly, so that you can export, you must turn off the virtual machine

  • How to locate a new virtual machine on a different hard disk

    VMware Fusion 3.1.1 (282344) Mac OS 10.6.4.

I have a few virtual machines on my boot drive and am running out of space. I want to create a new Win 7 vm on a drive different but can't seem to figure out how to tell VMware to put there. I know I could create in the normal location on my boot drive and move it, but I didn't Go on the boot drive for this.

How to create the new virtual machine on the new drive?

    Thx for advice,

    Ken

As you walk through the Wizard New VM and you arrive at Cap sheet, you have two choices...

One is to select the Customize settings button and the other is just click the Finish button.  Each choice made appear to save to: dialog box and you can pick any location you want.  Note that you may need to click the down arrow located right of save it under: text box to expand this worksheet to display all the options.  BTW, clicking on this button is the standard behavior of OS X and has nothing to do with the VMware Fusion in itself.

VMware Fusion menu bar > VM > press the option key and select Power Off

By pressing the keys alt/option "Shutdown called" changes to "Power Off".

Note: It also changes orders of "Suspend comments" and "Restart Guest' too.

Or if this does not work then...

On the library Virtual Machine ctrl - click on the target of the Virtual Machine and select Show in Finder and delete the .vmss file, the ctrl + click the target package of Virtual Machine, and then after the merger closed. Note: All that was not justified for the suspended state will be lost by deleting the .vmss file. • create the virtual machine from windows NT 4 server with adaptec raid 5

I have an old Dell (1998) server running windows NT 4.0 sp6a.  He had a raid 5 configuration using the controller raid adaptec SCSI 2940.  2 discs failed who broke the raid set.  I had a disk recovery company to recover the data and they have scratched off readers and gave me a SATA with all volumes.  I found a procedure to create a virtual hard disk (.vhd) and then converted to a hard and used to create a virtual machine in VMware workstation 7.  When I turn on the virtual machine, it begins the process of starting windows, shows the boot menu, select normal or mode VGA, goes through the process of NTdetect, display processor and memory but then gives a BSOD with the message inaccessible_boot_device.

I changed the hard to affect the buslogic ddb.adaptertype, but it gave me the same problem.

is there a different driver that I need for an adaptec raid controller or if the typical SCSI drivers should work?  If the typical SCSI drivers should work, so my problem might be in my Boot.ini because it shows that he is supposed to start on the partition (4) and this sata drive may not have scores exactly as they were on the raid configuration.  I tried to mount the volumes not in read-only mode, but the partition that I need to change the boot.ini file is partition (2) what mapping VMware won't let me open mode not readonly.  whenever I have, select it and it opens the partition (1) mode not readonly.

I know this sounds complicated then I hope I described with precision.

Very useful, because most repairs or recovery to the VMware is done the evening or at night.

  • SRM 5.5 - vSphere replication - error: impossible to reverse the replication for the Virtual Machine. A snapshot operation cannot be performed

Hi all, we have just run a test DR failover of a couple of virtual machines in our protected our failover site and all site swung perfectly, two virtual machines came online and all applications work well. However when we cam to r-eprotect machines virtual, we get some errors.

One of the virtual machines seems to have lived the reprotect end process, it is still running, but has not moved to 89% for some time. The virtual machine has a couple of grand (a little less than 2 TB) VMDK. slow progress is just a consequence of the large VMDK?

More worrisome is the virtual machine which don't reprotect at all. It generates an error whenever I click on the "Restore" button (error: impossible to reverse the replication for the Virtual Machine.) A snapshot operation can not be performed).

Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Andy

Finally got to the bottom of this. The issue was that reprotect SRM work was trying to dispel any snapshots that were taken on the computer object virtual destination in VMWare, but could not clean snapshots.

The reason why snapshots would not consolidate was because it was snapshots of temporary VEEAM who in fact any snapshot file listed in the VSAN data store. So when we looked through the browser data store, no snapshot file existed in the virtual computers folder. Trying a manual removal also failed.

To fix this, we created a snapshot of the virtual machine in the original data center (note is the engine to the bottom of the virtual machine), this effect was to get rid of the 'fade' snapshot that was visible in the Snapshot Manager that VEEAM backup had left behind. Once this had disappeared, the reprotect back to DCA worked perfectly.

Just follow the links provided by PML to get the software to make a clone of your current drive.

Or created an installation disk of Windows XP slipstreamed by using your original CD-ROM of MS Winxp Home

NB you will probably be impossible to use them on new hardware (i.e. a Pc designed for win7 or win8 as this new hardware manufacturer will probably have Windows XP drivers available)
