  I'm working on two computers, home and office. Physically, they are 4 miles away. If I forget to disconnect when I leave my office (the computer be here correctly closed), in order to continue my work at home, I have to get back to the office to do this.   I have a script that uses vmrun to suspend all VMs running when my Windows 8 Pro PC is shut down.  He paused the VMs correctly, however, the virtual machines shared that I set to auto-start does not auto-start.  I'm starting to wonder if I need to create a startup script similar to ensure that the departure of VMs correctly as well.

  We recently found a problem that occurs when a host is upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 while VMware Workstation is installed.  If this describes your situation, you can try to work around the problem if you are in a few registry changes on the host... (as always, be careful when you edit the registry!)

  (The instructions are for the 64 bit version of Windows. For 32 bit, it is similar, except that there is no key Wow6432Node.)

  1. open regedit (Start button + r, or search for apps for 'regedit')
  2. navigate in the tree to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > VMware, Inc. > VMware Workstation > volatile > IsFirstRun.
  3. right click on the key to IsFirstRun , and select Remove.

  Quit regedit.  Restart your host and VMs Autostart should then begin.

  Please let us know if that solves the problem for you!  We are preparing a Knowledge Base article and published a fix for future work stations.

  According to your post, I see that you have any questions on how and when your computer shuts down, and how the WiFi on your Mac is affected.   You're right, when your computer stops completely it will turn the Wi - Fi. If you enable the wake for network access, Wi - Fi remains lit, and you can access shared resources on your computer, such as printers or iTunes shared playlists even when your computer is in "sleep". Definition of a calendar closing and start on your Mac can also be useful.

  To clear pending files, select the files/folders in the 'Files to add to the CD/DVD' box and press DELETE. However, if you want to delete all files, click the CD/DVD drive and select 'Clear the staging area' from the context menu.

  You can manually delete the files that are stored in the following location:

  %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning folder

  If you are looking for in the unit LOG immediately after startup, you should find out the reason.  I suggest to you that what follows is the most likely reasons:

  (a) application not signed

  (b) developed for a different level than the device OS.
