HP Envy23: Start Menu button does not work

The Start Menu button has suddenly become unusable. The Home icon has been replaced by a sheet with the icon corner folded, and in a hurry, I get a message saying "the drive or network connection that designates the shortcut"Start Menu.Ink"is not available." Tried a couple of these corrections online and made sure everything is up to date.  Everything works well, except for this menu. Any suggestions?

If this just started to happen, it may be a good idea to start with a system restore, if possible. See the following link Microsoft showing the various recovery options in Windows 10, including system restore.

First try restoring, and then if it does not give a shot with the System File Checker. The following link is a very complete description of this command and how to use it. The command SFC - run in Windows 10 - tenforums.com

Afterwords to test and see if the normal is restored. If this isn't the case, then try the reset method described in my first link.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Menu button does not work

  • Documents folder deleted in error and start menu link does not work again

    In the folder tree pane (Vista Home Premium) it appeared that I had inadvertently copied double my completed application documents in the foledr of downloads, as it seemed that I had two copies of everything: waste of disk space. So I deleted the subfolder Documents of the record of downloads... and the main Documents folder are missing too! It's all the same thing. I don't understand why. But anyway.     Therefore, the Documents link in the start bar stopped working. Even after that I created a new Documents folder in the same location as the original, the link on the start menu does not; When I click on properties for the link, the path is empty, and I can't find a way to save a path to it. Any ideas?

    In case you're still interested in trying to retrieve the dossier of Documents initially lost, here are some options you can try:

    If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky.  They have so-called saves shadow copies, which are deleted or modified files that can be recovered in case changes/deletions made by mistake.  http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx more information about how to use this feature to: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/howdoi/?p=145.

    If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, shadow copies is not available; However, there is an alternative that is free and the shadow copies feature called Shadow Explorer. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/recover-files-with-shadow-copies-on-any-version-of-windows-vista/.  Although it will not help you this time, it could very well save you in case this happens again.

    In case this does not work (not all files are available through shadow - it occurs periodically), here are some additional free recovery programs that might help:

    The files are not really deleted until they are crushed (although they are no longer available through conventional methods).  If you decide to try these recovery programs, you should stop using your drive hard immediately in order not to replace the data that you are trying to recover.  He slave on another PC and launch the recovery of this PC.  Even now you have definitely lost some of them if you use the same PC.  If you can not do this (slave on another PC), you run the risk of overwriting the data with every action you do on the PC (but you may still be able to recover some or most or even all files - it's a matter of luck).

  • My 8 Firefox Menu button does not work and neither does the right click in the window of firefox

    It seems that all drop-down buttons in the browser, including the bookmarks dropdown in the toolbar and the main menu button (firefox), no longer work. This happened after that I upgraded to firefox 8. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times all also the removal of the preferences user and all that but that does not work. But everything seems to work properly in safe mode. So I disabled all my addons in the normal mode, but cela still does not resolve the problem. My right click does not anywhere in the browser window either. And also, although the menus are not displayed, it seems that they are still there because if I click in the area that a the function button active, that's how I was able to disable addons.

    Safe mode disables extensions in Firefox 4 and later versions, and disables hardware acceleration.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

    If disable hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

    Hey, JSammy.  I had mine works again with the help of someone from another site.  Here's what you need to do: press the green call button, then the menu button.  Select options, then on options General, highlight "dial from homescreen" and the value. Save and exit. Now on your home screen, press "O".  After that, the General menu options will come.  Choose the option 'theme' and choose a different theme or return to the default value.  This should be all your application icons to reappear.  After doing all this make sure you go back to reset the "dial" since the homescreen on 'yes '.  I hope it works for you.

    I just upgraded to winXP Pro win98se. After doing so I discovered there are no ads for tabs "System Restore, disk cleanup, Disk defrag, scheduled tasks or System Info ' not listed in the"System Tools"menu, but the others are.     I bought a Lenovo A1 and the menu button does not illuminate.

    Hi, this is happened since I reinstalled the operating system with an OEM disc, removing all the hp stuff. I got a new OEM drive that comes from hp (I think... well hp stuff works now) but the scan button does not always work. The old record was kind broken.

    I don't mind, but it will be useful, if it could be repaired. Don't want to do something big, would rather just not fix that to do something does not.

    Note: Scanning works, but I have to look somewhere else (e.g. opening scan in the Panel)

    OK, that explains why the scan button does not work.

    The complete software is required for the scan button to work, it is not a feature of the base software.

    Be sure to follow the steps below in order to get is torted:

  • Firefox automatically updated itself, would not add new bookmarks, then deleted all mine, will not always add new, now the back button does not work. I'm Livid.

    I think I'm on Firefox 13.0. He put itself as part of the update of my computer up to date (at least I guess that's what happened, because it has changed). Then I realized that the back button does not work. And the cursor remains on the typing that I symbol, it does not change the arrow, when I click on a link.

    One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

    Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

    You can click right back or front button to open the history list.

    You can hold down the left button of the mouse either back or next to the history tab list opens.

    I've just upgraded to firefox 4.0 tonight, and the back button is not working properly of my homepage or certain types of google searches.

    I can reproduce this problem every time by following these steps:

    (1) open a new tab, and I get a blank page.
    (2) select the Home button. I find myself at http://www.google.com/ig
    (3) go to the address bar type in a new URI, and press return

    Now, I leave my home page and go to the new page, but I can't go back to my home page.

    Similar behavior happens if I do a search on google for the address of quick search in the upper right.

    (1) start a new tab.
    (2) enter a search term and press enter

    I understand that your iPhone seems to be stuck playing the same song, regardless of your attempts to move to the next track. This may be due to the function "Repeat" enabled in the current reading on your iPhone screen.
