One of the suggestions was to run chkdsk.  This is the error I get when I run chkdsk: "explorer.exe entry index in the index file 35 $I30 are incorrect."  If I run chkdsk /f it says it removes the entry and then explorer.exe is an orphan.  When I reboot and running chkdsk /f even once, I get the same messages.
