  I have an officejet k7100.

  I'm getting a problem repeated with original hp 344 colour cartridges

  the red light on the left flashes (which indicates a color cartridge problem) and the printer refuses to print.

  When I do a test by TAPPING, the error is "the pen in the left chute has 1 or more lines open or shorted control."

  I tried - to buy 2 more cartridges.

  the purchase of a second identical printer (used) on ebay.

  same error each time, even refused to print. What combination of printer cartridge / I'm trying. very frustrated...!

  There are a few things to try:

  • Remove the color cartridge and try to print a page.  (The printer may still indicate a missing cartridge, but it should display ink backup mode).  The printer now shows that the black cartridge is at fault?  If so replace the color cartridge and remove the black cartridge.  If this prints correctly the black cartridge was involved.
  • Clean the cartridge and the contacts in the printer as shown in the document here.  It is a different printer but same principle.

  If the above does not help, I would say by the way by the troubleshooting steps described in the paper here.

  I can't do the cartridges HP 337/338/339 in Thailand for my HP Officejet K7100 (bought in the UK), only HP94/95/96 are available and printer rejects these. I expect the same problem with the color cartridges.

  I would appreciate any suggestions please other than cleaning and filling of the old cartridges? Is it possible to change the software / firmware?

  1. Unplug the printer from the computer.
  2. Run the Add Printer Wizard of
     Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and printers
  3. Select Add a local printer...
  4. Use an existing port. USB001...
  5. Select Windows Update
     Wait for the list to be completed. It will take a while.
  6. Select HP in the left pane and the right model.
  7. Follow the prompts on the screen.
  8. Do not attach the printer to the computer until you are educated.

• OfficeJet k7100 - will not print on darker colored paper

  Hi all

  I hope for more help. I like to play and I want to print on lazer blue paper in grayscale. However, whenever I try the printer seems to ignore the fact that I have some paper in the tray and seems to give an error "no book". I tried to change the lighter paper and it works very well, it only dark paper.

  Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome.

  Done, I've sorted the problem. With the paper being dark, I understand that the sensor will not print. Then, I shone the torch on my cell phone in the printer and then clicked "print"... Hey presto, it prints!

  I tried the PCL5 and PCL6 drivers.

  ErrorMsg "AutoCAD has stopped working - a problem caused blocking the program working properly."

  Printing from other software works (e.g. Acrobat Reader) very well.
  Print to other printers (e.g. OfficeJet K7100) works very well.

  It turns out that when I first tried the PCL5 driver it actually updates itself to PCL6.

  So I got my LaserJet m1536 work with AutoCAD 2012LT (64-bit) and PCL5 as follows:

  (1) Add/Remove programs-> remove the HP Laserjet 1530 series
  (2) download drivers PCL5 -> unpack and install-> choose "dynamically select printer"-> finish
  (3) print a page and failed of selection screen printer "to add this printer to my devices.
  (4) install the CD printing software
  (5) printer PCL6 to remove your devices

  At this point, I had work printer and scanner as well!

  I am running OS X Sierra on 2012 MBA with an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer / scanner.

  I noticed that after the upgrade to Sierra that the scan function no longer works... I tried to uninstall / reinstall the device, but the problem continues... I have checked the Apple Web site and notice that the HP OfficeJet 8600 is listed as a compatible scanner.

  I note also that the 8600 OfficeJet is connected as a printer via WiFi network and worked perfectly with the captain.

  responsibility to provide drivers to work for an update of the OS is with the developer of this device, not Apple. visit the page of the developer for your make and model camera and see if they offer drivers, otherwise contact the developers. Apple will sometimes provide printer drivers, but if a device is a legacy printer the developer may choose to retire it from use.

  It's the HP drivers and software that will allow you to scan over network. Or if NOT, maybe... often scanning on network is problematic.
