HP Pavilion a6712F: Windows vista says foxfire is still open when its ' not
Sometimes when I'm ready to work on the computer, a window appears & says that Foxfire is still running and to shut down before I could continue. As far as I know, it does not work. I have to restart to open a session. Using Windows Vista 64-bit.
Thank you.
At least. Here are a couple of things to try if the problem persists according to Mozilla.
You can see this:
https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/Firefox-already-running-not-responding
Also
Make sure that the profile of default value = 1 in profiles.ini points to an existing profile folder.
You can remove profiles.ini to force Firefox to create a new default profile.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_missing_profile
The problem is not with your computer or Windows, there is a problem with Firefox under Vista. Problem only way to get is to use another browser.

I have a HP Pavilion with Windows Vista a6214x. About 3 years ago, I created my recovery with 2 discs dvd - r system
I never had problems by creating discs and my HP troubleshooting and maintenance guide says that I could use either
the dvd - r or dvd + r. But the other day, technical support of HP said use the dvd + r to create system recovery discs. If this is the case, I have to start all over again and create Sytem recovery discs on dvd + r?
Donkey #1
The DVD creation has always been a unique event. I'd be surprised if it worked.
HP can tell you how to reset the utility.

HP pavilion d4790y windows Vista cannot connect to internet unless you use WEP wireless
I have a HP Pavilion with Windows Vista 32 bit home premium d4790y. I can connect to my ISP wireless router using the HP internal network adapter, but the connection between the router and the internet does not work unless I downgrade the router security to WEP. If I connect to the router via a wired connection, I can connect to the internet without problem even with WPA2. I did all the troubleshooting steps recommended as reset the router to check updated network adapter, uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver, driver release and renew the ip configuration, etc. Information? Is there a newer driver that is not recognized during the update search process?
Hello
It is a hardware thing and the wireless card does not support this. Changing the wireless card can be the way to go.
I hope this helps.

HHD has failed and needs to be replaced on my out of warranty Pavilion DV6 (Windows Vista)
I have a laptop DV6 Pavilion running Windows Vista that I bought in 2009. I realize that is no longer under warranty HP so I have to pay for any changes or corrections to this computer.
Earlier this week, the hard drive (the one included with the computer) failed with error 03f0. It is my understanding that this error is a fatal error and the drive is essentially 'toast '... Unfortunately, I do NOT have a backup of the image of that hard drive. I have just the recovery disks that I created when I got to the computer originally. I quite like this computer I would try out running back (if possible) without having to spend a LOT of money. In my simple mind how how I get this computer running and upward would buy/install a compatible replacement hard drive and boot the system with the recovery discs. Unfortunately, I think my plan is simply probably naïve and I probably need to do other things. So I need some advice before you start this process and possibly wasting my time and money.
I need answers to some of these questions:
-Will it record Windows/Vista OS and more recovery disks to get the computer running with a new hard drive?
-If I need Windows OS disc, can I go directly to Windows/8? OR do I need start with Windows Vista and then upgrade to Windows/8 later? Use recovery discs and all Windows operating system? OR I can get running with just the disks in the Windows operating system?
-If I can get the hard drive and Windows operating system loaded, I guess I need HP drivers, etc... Does it mean that I have to get the disks from HP's Windows operating system or can I get it from Microsoft or Amazon and download the drivers from HP later?
Thanks to anyone who can help me here for advice! It will save me a LOT of time and money.

(Windows Vista Home Premium) 800b0100 error code when you try to install the two (KB978338) and (KB968389)
I tried all the recommended solutions that Windows can throw at me, and yet I still can't download these updates for some reason any. Whenever I run the program "Microsoft Fixit" he says it's a mistake and fixing it with success, but I still get the same error when you try to install the updates. I have checked for malware, scanning my computer everything and see nothing.

Hello
Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.
It will also tell you here what Service Packs, if any, are already installed.
Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.
Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
Vista SP1 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

Vista SP2 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669

2. What is the exact error message that you receive?
Service Pack 1 is a prerequisite for installing Service Pack 2. It could be the Service Pack 2 for some other day.

One of my friends asked me to help because she has a serious eye problem requiring a transplant, and his other eye is not so good either. To see the screen, it uses the function of magnification of the screen on a 24 "monitor and sits with his eyes of 10-15 cm off the screen (4 to 6 inches)
She had this machine for about 4 years and in recent weeks, she had this recurring demand for re turn on his machine.
Unfortunately, when she bought this machine, it did not have the OEM disc and I find no hint of the usual OEM stickers that should have been on the machine. Apparently she bought from a vendor just a couple of the townships far away and is no longer there.
I made the diagnosis of MGA and here are the results:

I regret to say that it seems that installation is a counterfeit.
The motherboard seems to be an a detail - the key used OEM_SLP is one for the Asus computer.
There is no SLIC table in BIOS (as it should be in any computer with Windows OEM pre-installed)
The machine was sent for repair to anyone? -replacement motherboard could cause these problems.
In view of the fact that you do not find a COA sticker, I guess the original installation was a fake, but it was only discovered by a need to validate the system.
The only real options are either to buy a complete package of legal retail for Vista Ultimate and use the key for this to make the authentic system. or to buy a pack of Win7 full detail to any edition of Windows is going to suit your friend and then clean install that (after you back up all data from external storage).
Note that in most circumstances, it would be useless for your friend to have a full edition of Vista or Win7 - at most, professional would be the natural choice, but it is likely that home Premim would do perfectly well, unless your friend has specific programs that require a higher edition.

Windows Vista says that my product key is invalid for activation.
I bought a dell Inspiron on 2007. He died this year and I bought a used machine, using the memory of the dead dell printer. I installed Vista on my disk and now recieveda message on my screen saying my code is invalid for activation! It's probably my drive. What they are up to?
original title: not valid?Dell you provided with what we call an OEM of Windows version. OEM versions are related to the computer first it is installed on and can not be moved / installed on another computer.
You need to buy a 'Full' version retail of windows (if the computer that you want to use never had an earlier version of Windows AND valid a certificate of authenticity).
You can use an 'Upgrade' of Windows Vista (or Windows 7) retail version if Windows XP or Vista has been installed and you have always a product key and the COA.
