Yes, just press and hold an application until the icons wiggle. Then you can drag and drop icons around to put in the order you choose or move to different pages. You can't however move icons to create gaps between them. They will always be positioned in the upper left corner for the first available space. Once you've converted them, you can click the home button to turn off him jiggle.

I don't know what I can say except that I click on the Firefox icon in the dock to get to the top of my gmail account. It seems preferable to click on the mail icon in the dock instead. Does it really matter or not, how I got my mail? As you can probably, mobile info around is a little difficult for me and my question, if feasible, would be great.
    Thank you, Theresa

It's not, it's the choice of the user. Mail can be read in two ways. The only difference is the interface.

  • New to mac: I lost my icon to launch. He is no longer on the dock. Where can it be?

I'm new to mac products. I think I pushed my icon "launch" into space by accident. Now I can't find it, it is no longer on the dock. I'm not tech-savvy, I hope someone can help me to find it.

If I posted this in the wrong section, please let me know.

Do you mean the Launchpad? If so, just drag it from the Applications folder in the dock.

  • The icon in my dock for Firefox has suddenly changed an image that looks like 2 pieces of paper stacked on each other irregularly with 3 pencils drawn on the lower right corner. Can I change it to look like the emblem of Firefox? That's happened?

    More details to be added.

Try the solution in this thread for the pencil icon:

    • Remove the Firefox icon from the dock.
    • Create a new icon by dragging the Firefox application to the dock.
  • Having all the icons app pinned to the docking station

It affect the performance or memory available to other programs if you pin all the application icons in your dock (just for the look)?

I'm not sure about the memory, but keeping all applications in the dock reduces the execution stack, so it is wise to keep apps in launchpad (you can keep finder and trash in the dock) and also to reduce the size of the icons.

    Thank you!

  • Today, I can't change the order of items in the dock?

All the elements I want to rearrange are above this line, but they don't allow me to change the order in which they appear. In the past I have rearranged the icons, but not today. Help?

  • By clicking on the icon of the application on the dock

I'm going crazy. I swear to you that I used to be able to click on an application icon in the dock, which is for the active application, and it would switch between all the windows open so this app. Apple get rid if this amazing and important feature of the effectiveness of workflow? For a few years now, I've been clicking on it tries to switch between open windows and it does nothing, sometimes it can swap another window, but never all the windows as it used in 10.6.8.

Is someone can you please tell me if Apple has removed this important feature?

To switch between open windows in any application you must first open, or switch to, the app and then use the control keys and tab.

  • Icons on the Dock

I just deleted the old BONES of my iMac and installed the latest version. Icons for the numbers and Pages are missing. Where to find and how to include them on the Dock? Thank you

In the Finder, open the Applications folder. Here, find the numbers and Pages.

Just drag the folder into the dock apps.

You can also use Launchpad instead of a Finder window. It's your choice; the result will be the same.

  • When I'm on my Web site home page, if I right click on the icon of firefox on the dock (iMac) it shows "Mozilla Firefox" instead of the name of my site.

So, if I'm on another site, for example newsnow.co.uk, if I right click on the Firefox icon in the dock, it shows "newsnow.co.uk" as one of the pages opened in Firefox.

But for my site, it just shows, "Mozilla Firefox". However, if I do the same with Safari, the page is referred to as the full name of my site.

Why Firefox isn't doing the same thing? My apologies if this is a silly question: I am a bit stuck!

    Best wishes

    James.

I'm sure that you can easily add a < title > for that and your other pages, and it will improve the way they appear in the results of search engines as well. In the absence of a title, for example, Google will just improvise something on the structure and the prevalence of the words on the page, which is not always what you want visitors to see on the results page.

  • Stuck in the dock icon. The system will not stop?

After the Java Update 1.8.91, whenever a Java application had been opened and closed again, the Java icon remains on the bench of the accused.

This isn't the real problem, stop via the Apple menu does nothing. The iMac not simply stopped. OS X 10.11.5. It is somehow in an intermediate state, where no other application opens more.

Here's what I've tried so far:

    1. Force quit changes logo from Java to a Terminal logo = > icon remains docked, without stop down via the Apple menu.
    2. By dragging the icon Java/Terminal to the desktop or the trash can displays the text "Remove", but won't actually remove the icon. Needless to say: stop always is not possible.
    3. Since the iMac is set up for multiple users, I can change via the user menu in the login window, and here I can click on the icon/symbol of closure. After you enter the credentials of the administrator, the system stops... Finally.
    4. I have already completely uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Java (1.8.91). No change.
    5. The strange thing is, there is no Java process visible in the activity monitor or in the Terminal window when you use the top or ps commands...
    6. Disk utility = > first aid doesn't change anything either.
    7. In the console is a warning against a coreaudio with Java incompatibility... But I don't know how it might help the situation.

I have no idea process to kill or what to install/uninstall in order to launch a 'clean' close.

Advice or assistance is highly appreciated.

    Thank you.
