I can't back up my files via network to another computer, both using Vista

Using the Backup Wizard, the ability to back up by using network is disabled (can not click on the button). I'm running Vista Home Basic, the other computer on the network is on Home Premium. The network works very well in every other respect, etc. file sharing.

Hi peter_849,

Windows Vista Home Basic Edition supports backup on a network location. It can only back up to a local disk.

To work around the problem, you can try to backup locally, and then copy the backup on another machine on the network.

You probably have Windows 7 Home Premium - Microsoft has removed the ability to backup Windows 7 Home Premium network. You must have Pro/Ultimate to do a network backup or install a 3rd party backup program that can backup network.

  • Can I recover my old version of windows on the computer and use it on my old laptop?

    Original title: windows 8.

Last year, I bought a new desktop computer Acer with windows 8 and installed my windows professional 8.1 on it!

My question is! can I recover my old version of windows on the computer and use it on my old laptop because it was purchased with this PC AND how I to get it back?

I am braking the rules by doing this? the original key was included with the purchase of my new Acer and I should be able to pick it up and install it on another device?

If I can't, I'll have to buy a new one to upgrade my old windows laptop 7. I'm trying to save money! That's why I ask this question.

    Roger

No, you cannot transfer the original license that is pre-installed on your Acer, it relates to it because it is an OEM license.

The OEM of Windows 8 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

    What is OEM software? :

  • Can I back up my files on the partition of 'E' of my Satellite A300-1EC

    I bought a new laptop Satellite A300-1EC.
I managed to complete the full installation of the system.

When I check my drive I don't find that two drives 'C' and 'E '.
Drive C is for the operating system, and 'E' is the data with a record HDD1 disk.

Now if I want to save my normal files like in word, excel etc... that is the drive to back up my files.

Savings in 'E' will affect the operation of computers.

    best regards to all

    Hello

I assume that the E partition contains data that are necessary to start the Toshiba HDD recover.

I think you could save your files on the partition E too, but you shouldn't change t or t should remove all the files and data that already exist on the E partition.

    Good bye

  • How can I back up the files of the user as well as the owners?

I just bought an external hard drive for backups.  I had backups Backup & restore, files appear on the external hard drive, however; only show files/documents/images "owner" in the "directory" - none of the user documents, etc. appear.  I'm doing something wrong? How to back up the files of users and owners?

    Hello

The user files will be saved only for the user account that you have connected. If you want the backup to other users files, you will need to connect from other user accounts and make a backup.

  • How can I move my copy of windows 7 on another computer?

I bought a copy upgrade of windows 7 for my back when it first came out (my computer went on XP at the time). I am now to move to a new computer and want to transfer my operating system of windows 7 to the new machine. I can access is no longer the download link, although as microsoft.com does not recognize the email address I used to create the account, I used to buy the upgrade. When I bought the upgrade, it was part of a generation of students and may request a .edu address, if that's any help.

Whatever the case, I would like to know if there is a way I can retrieve my download link or move the files I need directly to the new computer (which is currently being worked on vista).

    Hello

If it's a retail license, Yes, you can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time. The previous installation of Windows 7 must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turn on the second computer will automatically deactivate the license for the first computer.
If you have any difficulties, activation of Windows 7 after the relocation to open the Windows Activation Wizard in Windows 7 to use the phone and activate Windows. During the Windows 7 installation at the entrance of your product keys page, do not enter your key and uncheck the "automatically activate when online.
    1. Click Start, and then in the search box type: slui.exe 4
    2. press enter on your keyboard
    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the option to activate the phone, then call and hold to a real person.

  • save an image in an image file and reloaded on another computer for the image processing

    Hello

Can I save the image to an image file and then reload the file on another computer for the image processing? What type of image format should I save for it? Is there any loss of image if I do this? The machine with the camera sits in our lab, and I want to test the software on my own computer image processing. So can someone give some good ideas on this. Thank you

    Jane

I assume you have the module development VDM and vision acquisition software going TO on your computer.

So just use playback IMAQ and IMAQ save functions. BMP, png are good for losless save unlike jpg and jpeg2000.

    Hope this helps

  • How can I fix the problem when another computer is using the same IP address with me?

My computer has proven to me that there is another computer using my IP address.

He said I need to contact the administrator.
I don't know how to do in this regard. Help, please.

Since it's your own home network, it means you are the network administrator. Which basically means that you should have total control on who can and can not connect to internet through this network.

Then, you should have a router somewhere in your House. This is the device that sends the wireless signal. Most likely, it will be connected to a phone jack or cable from the wall, or a modem, depending on which company you get your internet service.

You need to find this device, the router and restart for it. Do the same on your computer. Once both have restarted, try to connect to the internet. The router must have an ID written somewhere on it. This same ID should appear in your network and sharing Center , if you click on "Connect To A Network.

The homegroup is something a little different. A homegroup is really just a collection of your own computers, or in your home. For example, if you had a desktop and a laptop, and I wanted to share the files from one to the other, you should join them in the same homegroup. It has nothing to do with putting on the Internet, just the connection of two computers together. It of good that you set up a homegroup with a password, but won't really help you here.

  • Is there anyway to save a PDF file as an Excel workbook? I use Vista Home Premium.

I tried to copy/paste, except as - can only save as PDF file.  I tried to use Adobe, but it doesn't allow me to do unless I purchase the program.  I have only about 6 or 8 documents to convert, so I don't want to spend the $$ that Adobe wants.   Is it possible through the window or Microsoft Office?
