I can't delete a directory. .

The system tells me that the directory is used by someone or it is open in another program. He said close all programs. He also denies me access to remove directories. Can someone tell me what is happening. Something in the system is not allowing me not to remove my directories.

Thank you

Marie-Joe

Assuming that these are not protected of Windows directories, one approach is to use the freeware "Unlocker" to delete these files/directories.  This is a short-term solution, however, and if this continues to be a problem, you may need to find which program is lock your directories.  Boot safe mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key during startup key) will start windows with minimal process and may also allow you to delete these directories.  If you delete these directories in Mode without failure, but not Normal mode, then you may need to use "msconfig" to locate the process which is lock your directories.

    You can try this program:

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_recuva/

Use the deep Scan option. It may take some time.

The System File Checker can repair some of the files in there, but probably not all.

It's probably at least some of the files that have been overwritten. so I would say the the more safe thing to do is to reinstall Windows.

  • How can I delete an Active Directory user on a computer

    Hi all

Thank you in advance for the answers.

I have a user Active Directory on a computer Windows 7 Pro that I want to delete on this computer, and then have him sign in again and re-create the profile / user. (I have problems with its current profile)

I don't know what the best way to cleanly remove the AD user on the Windows 7 Pro computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Alex

If the connection is an AD account, you can simply delete the profile from c:\users folder and then it will be re - initialize the whole profile when the user logs in.  This is where the the user registry hive is stored, so it also cleans the registry by deleting this folder.

    Hello Ssmith331,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community!

Try adding a/s in front of the path of the directory you want to delete. For example: rmdir /s C:\Temp\Test

For more information about the Rmdir command, follow the link below:

I have a folder that I can't delete on my PC running Windows 7. The folder was created about 4 years ago and has not been used for several years.  While the backup to an external hard drive, I got an error saying the file could not be saved.  I discovered that the folder itself of course replied over and over again. (Folder in a folder, a file, etc..)  When I try to delete the folder it does not indicate "the folder contains items whose names are too long for the trash.  It seems that the record itself at least replicated dozens of times.  How to remove the My Documents folder?  I do not have anything in the folder.  I also tried to grate the folder using the Shred feature in McAfee Total Protection, but he maintains the cancellation itself before the folder shredding.

Boot in safe mode (hold down the SHIFT key > click on restart)

Hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on Remove to ignore put it in the trash, then delete it immediately

If this does not work, open an elevated command prompt command prompt (win key + 'X') (Admin)

Navigate to the folder using "cd" (change directory)

Make sure that there is nothing in the record that you need

    Hello

Remember that this is the reason for having a SHARED NETWORK... you share all. If you and I are working on a project that is shared on the network, we could work on and update the project. If you don't want this to be the case, do not share some files on the network. In other words, if I don't want then it in my music, I do not share my music directory.

    Happy computing,

  • How can I delete the dupilcate?

I've upgraded to Windows 7 from XP. Saved all my data on an external drive, installed 7 and then copied back the data.  So now I have for ANY duplicate files!  I have a Windows.old directory with 96 gigabytes of data and my hard drive is only 250 gigabytes.  So now I have only 15 GB of free space.  How can I get more free space? How can I remove duplicate files?
What happens if I delete the windows.old directory?

The windows.old directory contains copies of the files in your previous installation of Windows XP.  If you are unsure that you have everything backed up on an external drive, you can safely delete windows.old.  A quick way to do this is to browse your drive C:, right-click Windows.old, hold down the SHIFT key and press the delete key.

I can't delete some files that I uploaded to the server. I get a notice: FTP an error occurred - cannot delete the PDF download server folder. Operation failed. The directory is not empty, or there may be a permission problem.

    What should I do?

  • The content of these files can be deleted?

The content of these files can be deleted?

In the Finder, and then to the library I have two files, one is called caches and cookies to others.  What is inside them can be deleted?

I have an iMac running macOS Sierra 10.12.

    Thank you

    Select this option.

There are actually several 'library' files in the Finder and it is better that you don't mess with them.  Most browsers have ways to delete the cookies in the browser itself and adjusting the size of browser cache.  Caches speed up the operation of the computer, and unless you have a specific problem, you have not and should not, remove them.  At best he probably will do nothing, and at worst you may have to reinstall your operating system.
