I can't restore my favorites that I backed up, because they seem to be of type 'file' instead of 'JSON '.

I backed up my favorites until I have re-formatted my computer. I used Firefox backup tool. On the registration screen, the only thing I remember was the name of the file, but everything I've done done him be saved to one type other than the "JSON" files that Firefox recognizes. Thus, the file is not recognized when I try to restore it using restore Firefox bookmarks. In properties, it is simply called a type 'file', not 'JSON '. I can't open it with Firefox, only Microsoft Word (I think). All the data seem to be there as a long string of info that contain the links among many other data. Very complicated format. Is there a way to convert this to a JSON file that recognizes the Firefox in order to restore the bookmarks? Thanks much for any help.

View this file in a simple text editor, if this file begins by {"title": "","id": 1, "dateAdded": -simply change the suffix of jsonfile.}

I deleted my favourites earlier, but now I want to restore. I read that any type of restore may make me lose all new bookmarks... can I restore my old favorites (of the month) and keep my new?

Unless you have a backup of these bookmarks, they are gone. Firefox maintains that 10 days of backup files automatic bookmark, once 10 days the oldest backup crashed drank a new backup.

  • Where can I find the favorites that I removed in Firefox...

When I did it with IE, they were in the trash... but those that I deleted from my bookmards in FF is not there... where are they located? I want to restore it...

If you've accidentally deleted bookmarks, then use "organize > Cancel ' in the Bookmark Manager (bookmarks > organize bookmarks) to get back them.

Hold the button is the first of the three buttons on the toolbar in the library (Bookmark Manager).

That only works if you have not closed Firefox.

If it does not work so that you can restore bookmarks from a JSON backup.

This will replace all current bookmarks and you lose the favorites that have been added since the backup was created.

I backed up my favorites through "import and backup" yesterday my hard drive broke down and was replaced. I now have a new hard drive installed and try to restore the bookmarks on my laptop, but I get "failed to process the backup file". This is a JSON, bookmarks-2015-02 - 08.json file. • How can I restore my favorites with old Firefox Sync?

I have sync key and password of the old Firefox Sync. And I want to restore my favorites.
Three years ago, I use Firefox sync, but as I put t use.

You must connect to the synchronization using a 29 pre-Firefox version to re-establish a connection to the server and attempt to recover your data. Then follow the instructions to update your sync for Firefox 29 account. See this KB article - synchronize your bookmarks from Firefox, history, passwords, etc.

Firefox 29 + uses a hidden recovery key and no way to get into the old "key".

Three years of inactivity? Your data may not be there, Sync was not intended to be a cloud of data storage. It was created to keep synchronized multiple installations of Firefox.

  • How can I restore my favorites?

Today, when I went on Mozilla, all my favorites were still there, but all my browser history had disappeared, so I tried to fix this. Now, all my favorites are gone, but when I go to my profile to Mozilla, the "bookmarkbackups" folder and the files that it contained are still there.

I took the time to learn the ASVG Nation removed toolbar. Directly after that, I got notification was the combination of Google/Firefox that I had used for incompatible yonks Google so removed and have now no old favorites. I was hoping that Firefox had a copy backup.

    Hello

Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be useful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. Assuming that the toolbar does not have diverting the Bookmarks feature, you will be able to recover them in the bookmarks library window:

    1. Click the Bookmarks button

(or the bookmarks menu), and then select show all bookmarks.

      • First of all, can you check your unsorted bookmarks to see if they got there? If there is no favorites it is, then continue.
    2. At the top of the library window, click on import and backup , and then select restore.
    3. Click on the date of the backup of bookmarks you want to recover.
    4. In the new window that appears, click OK.
    5. Your bookmarks in the selected date should now be restored.

For more information, see the article restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer . For alternatives, see the article of recover lost or missing bookmarks .
