I can't use my backup disks after a recovery

My hard drive has begun to send me error messages.  I found myself using my recovery disks.  During this process, that I was urged to make a backup of records of information I would rather not lose (photos, games, etc.).  I did it.  After recovering, I tried to load the backup disks.  The first disk done to restore a file shortcut on my desktop.  But it does not load the files on the disk and asks me almost immediately to disk #2.  It will not either charge.  Try to get the computer to read the discs through the control panel > system maintenance > backup > restore files, I get a message that there is no back ups available on this computer.   How can I get my info on these discs?

The following document can help you to restore the backup files:

An repair is non-destructive. An recovery is destructive and exterminates all what you had on your hard drive and start from scratch with no programs installed.

I need to restart my computer to its original settings, as I just bought. I did the backup drive for my laptop and need a backup disk to restore my computer. Can I use a backup from another laptop, same brand disc and the same software (vista). Can it be done? If so, what documents do I need to create a backup disk and what to put on it. Help, please.

    Hello

recovery discs are computer brand and model specific

If you need the drive for your recovery or read alternative methods below

If you don't have a recovery disk, you must have a recovery partition to do the same thing

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista:

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

their request also how to make this recovery partition recovery disks

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

  • How can I recover my backup disks backup after a computer crash? My HP laptop is a CMS (Windows7)

So, recently, I had to "reset" my computer to its factory settings and I for her backup disks but when I put them in, the only options that appears is 'open folder to view files '. When I open the folder, there is another folder called "backup files", when I opened that there are files that say 0.wim, 1.wim, 2.wim, (or something similar when same) and so on. I click on and it just say "choose the program you want to use to open this file" or "Browse programs." You can also choose to watch online for a program and I did and I downloaded one that he said would work (7 - Zip). I also learned what a WIM file. I have very important documents, photos and music on my backup DVD. If anyone would know how to recover my backup on my computer, please let me know and if there are questions about the problem at hand, ask and I will do my best to respond. Thank you for your help!

On one of the drives, probably the first one, there was also a file with the .exe extension. Restore.exe or Recover.exe. If you find it double click to run it and it will extract the aDossier on the laptop .wim files.

  • Re: Can I use the other Satellite U400 series recovery disk

I have Toshiba Satellite U400 121. My recovery disk does not work may be due the scratches that I see in it. I took the laptop to the Toshiba Center service and I got a negative support of them. They said, they can't put the Windows Vista because the recovery disk is not there, and they have put Windows XP inside and handed to me.
later I got to know that Windows Xp is not Geninue one. :|

I can still see one of the Partition 'D:' with folder HDDRecovery inside.

So can I use Recovery Disk of all PC model Toshiba laptop other than the Toshiba Satellite U400 121 recovery disk.

In fact, I tried with the other model recovery disk, that at boot with this disk, Recovery Wizard starts up, but since I'm not sure about this one I stopped there and brought out.

Please one of you let me know if you have valuable contributions on this.

    suggestions are welcome!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I don't know Mr. which series Satellite U400-121, it is, but you must use the recovery disc designed specifically for this series of laptop!

Another recovery disc cannot be used because the drivers and tools that have been implemented in the image of Toshiba are not designed for this series of laptop!

By the way; You can order the CD from recovery from here:

    It is to be expected.

Creative Suite serial numbers are specific platform: Windows only or Mac only. You cannot use a serial number of Windows on a Mac.

    You have two options:

    1. Pay for upgrade to Mac CS6 (you will need to call Adobe to buy since Adobe really does not want to sell you outdated software such as CS6)
    2. Join the Cloud

  • can not update xp or IE after system recovery

I did a system restore on my computer XP 32 bit. I have not checked to see if he had 1 SP installed, but I had a disc for SP 2 and manually installed SP 3.
I can't install WIndows updates, due to the fact that I need of IE 7 or higher. IE 7 won't install because I guess he needs updates of some sort? How can I solve this problem?

I tried to install Service Pack 1, but it wouldn't work because I installed SP 3.

    4. after recovery, your office is always show files that were there before the recovery?

Describe the very next step you take after you have completed the recovery. The files are still there, but some are missing such as 2007 Microsoft Office and other programs, but my documents are still there

This means that is non-destructive recovery of Compaq and have without doubt both times. I would say that a re - install destructive is in order and follow my previous instructions that were for a clean install. Note that this will destroy the data so if your data is important you must save it first, ideally twice in two separate devices. If you are worried about data loss, I suggest putting in the hands of a professional, but do not expect to take any responsibility for your data. If someone is able, they may not cover all the possibilities (e.g., disk failure) and we your data must be your responsibility.

In the light of your PC is one that may require the patch from HP/Compaq AMD I have revised my instructions for you below...

Print what you want from this Web site that you can access on the PC hit after the new installation. After the installation you're using IE6 that this site does not work with!

Get these downloads (click the link) and have them on a CD or a USB key (ignore warnings from Microsoft gives you need to be an IT pro or using Windows updates in place)

SP2 (only if your recovery is a "no service pack at all" XP or is a Media Center XP)

SP3 (only if your recovery is pre - SP3)

AMD patch (only if your recovery is pre - SP3)

IE8 (do not leave Microsoft direct you to a later version, IE8 is as good as it gets for XP)

Make sure you have your antivirus solutions and handy greater security as (CD/download).

    • Back up your data
    • Disconnect from the internet (remove the cable Ethernet or a wireless device?)
    • Disconnect all devices except the screen, keyboard and mouse.
    • Make the new facility (the driver installation should not be necessary for a resumption of Compaq)
    • Remove Norton (use the deletion tool that rocks of XP has suggested)
    • Install SP2 (only if there is no service pack at all after the recovery, or it is XP Media Center)
    • Install the patch from HP/Compaq AMD (if recovery is pre - SP3)
    • Install SP3 (if recovery is pre - SP3)
    • Install IE8
    • Install antivirus/security
    • To connect to the internet
    • Update antivirus/security
    • Windows Update
    • Install remaining desired hardware/software
    • Restore your data

Do not use Windows updates or driver "detectives" update/install drivers.

Do not try to use Windows Update, until SP3 is installed.

Do not install IE8 or any other software as long as you are at SP3.

Make sure to use restore points in case something goes 'shaped pear.

  • I can co on the "low disk space" on RECOVERY (d :)) disc warning?)

Using the disk management program I dropped my C drive and I now have a new, unnamed, empty, no file system (I think), 55 GB drive, volume, disk, partition in more C drive, (which has still approx. 220 GB of free,) the complete RECOVERY D drive/disk/partition/volume 10 GB and a connected by USB-free 430 of GB external hard drive.

    Hello

You have lost your time shrinks for difficulty D: C:

    Read this:

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.

    See you soon.
