  • Do not sync open tabs

I have about 20-30 tabs open in my computer (Ubuntu) and a new installation of Windows XP on my laptop. Both have the latest version of Firefox.
I used the option to replace data in other devices with existing data in my computer. It seems to sync several minutes (the button have an animation), first in my computer, and then in my laptop when I open the browser.
I get all my data synchronized with the exception of open tabs.

In addition, Sync take into account groups of tabs? Usually, I organize my open tabs in groups when I work in several sections. I would like to have this exact organization in my two machines.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Looking for your labels in the right place?

Firefox sync will not make your tabs open in the other browser, that it gives you just the ability to recover open tabs that have been synced from another computer.

On the menu historical it should be a menu item "Tabs on other computers", if you select a new tab opens to display the sites of other computers.

See here for more information: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/756513

And Yes, tab groups are taken into account.

  • Download junk in the background every time that I run Firefox (and I do not have installed AVG)

I am aware of this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997796 - but I haven't installed AVG. Every time I run Firefox, even in an empty tab page, a few seconds later my bandwidth starts used. I got Cucusoft Net installed guard and TCPEye, and both show that Firefox is connected to the internet and download - even if I have not loaded any page, there's always on 'new tab '...

I too FDM, but this happens with or without its execution (ditto with my XAMMP localhost installation.)

I have disabled all add-ons, and run Firefox in safe mode, still the same thing happens: when I start a new tab, my bandwidth is murdered (parenthesis: my normal surfing via Telkom Mobile internet is sloooow between 60 Kbps and 250 Kbps if I'm lucky, but the download of this background is off-the-charts more than 1 200 Kbps and a few seconds) (, I lost more than 20 MB of mobile internet really really expensive, I just can't afford to waste, that's why I have all these monitors TCP and network graphics running all the time.)

I also ran a Kaspersky rootkit revealer and reported no threat. I have ZoneAlarm antivirus and firewall that does report also no infection (ditto ClamWin)

I found the problem... it's Firefox.

How bloody rude of Firefox... I put my browsers NOT auto-Update (because my bandwidth is so bloody expensive) but you choose to override my settings and auto-update anyway... WITHOUT MY CONSENT.

    How bloody rude.

There's a reason why we put 'no' to the updates, and I expect that respect you this shit.

  • Dear all, I can not play the flash videos from any website through firefox because it freezes, but when I run firefox as administrator, then it works fine (but Google Chrome plays all the videos normally.). I use Windows 7 & Firefox 7.0.1. Help, pleas

    Dear all,
Firefox crashes when I try to play flash videos from any website, but when I run firefox as administrator, it works very well. (but Google Chrome, Opera & I.E9 video parts without administrator.) I use Windows 7 & Firefox 7.0.1. Help, please.

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

When I run Firefox (it goes to the Firefox default page) the 'Password required' box came to have the password for the software security device entrance. This default page does not require a password to enter.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • I can not run the most recent version. I get a window saying firefox.exe is not a Win32 file

I can install the 5.0.1 version but it won't work. I got this version works when someone elso was using my computer. I don't know how it happened, but the calculation froze and I couldn't run Firefox afterwards. I got Firefox to my computer. Downloaded the latest version once again and I tried to run it. I've done several times without success

It seems that the installation is corrupt.

    Follow these steps.

    1. Go to Download Firefox 5.0.1 and download the installer to your desktop. If necessary, use Internet Explorer to download, but in this case, choose "Save" when you see the prompt. Do not choose "Run"
    2. Then go to add/remove programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and delete it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations, etc. (don't tick the box).
    3. Reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    4. Finally, run the installation file downloaded previously on the desktop.

Your bookmarks, etc., customizations are stored in a different location and will become available to you even once you complete the installation.

As a precaution, make a backup of your bookmarks as follows:

    1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + B to open the Bookmarks Manager.
    2. Click on the link to import and backup and then click on HTML Export and save the file somewhere.

You can use this file at any time to restore your bookmarks if that proved necessary. Simply reverse the procedure and choose "Import HTML" instead.

NB. If you use a download accelerator, turn it off before trying to download Firefox. These utilities are a common cause of corrupt files, in which case you get the error message you mentioned.

If this suggestion solves the problem for you, please click the button solved next to this post after logging in to the forum. This will help others looking for a solution to the same problem.
