  My sister has a HP Pavilion 8380us, which has not been used in a while. I could get my hands on a (power) BIOS password that works and even BONES log in credentials, but still need a BIOS password so I can (a) delete the BIOS password and (b) allow the Networking Wireless (it is disabled at the BIOS level).

  I removed all the easily indication covers at the rear, and a CMOS battery is not easily visible (including under the HDs), so am not willing to go this route.

  The error on this BIOS password code is 02664.

  When I posted my original question, only bios F19 is available for download. I checked the HP website again today and to my surprise now previous two versions of the bios are also available for download.

  In case a person at HP has decided to post links to older versions of the bios after reading these forums, then its totally awesome. I am impressed.

  I found the info that for your laptop model there are two types of battery only:
  PA3356U-3BAS
  PA3356U-3BRS

  So if you use Google and put these numbers, you should be able to find an online store where you can buy these compatible batteries.
  By the way: link you posted is OK and I don't see the reason why you shouldn't order of it. It is listed as compatible.

  To extend the life, you need battery with more cells and ability, but it is unfortunately not available for your laptop model.
