I opened firefox and found this on my browser. file:///C:/users/public/Desktop/Mozilla%20firefox.lnk. What is it?

I opened Firefox and above has been in my browser toolbar. He was never there before today. I downloaded it accidentally and it was recorded in my office. I deleted it (I hope), but he asked me what the heck it is. I hope that I was not just cause me a lot of grief!

It's just a shortcut to the Firefox browser. Right-click on it and delete it.

  • When I try to open Firefox and explore, I get a menu of recommended programs and asked me to choose the program with which to open the file.

Original title: open Firefox and explore

When I leave early to Mozilla Firefox or Explorer, I get a menu of recommended programs and asked me to choose the program with which to open the file. When I do, I get a security warning asking if I really want to do. If I check "Run", I get redirected to the previous list, and I find myself in a circle without end. It does not matter what choice to make. Used to be that I went from starting Firefox directly.  I can get in if I have Firefox right click and choose to run the file as an administrator and then give permission to open the program. How can I cut these two additional and direct access, that I used to enjoy. I run Vista. The same thing happens if I have to explore. Would be grateful for the help.

    1. you are using the latest version which is Firefox version 9.0.1

From your description, it seems that if you still have the old start page for Firefox http://www.google.com/firefox hosted by Google as your homepage. This old default home page is no longer used as topic: Home is in use since Firefox 4.0

Ignore the message, change the homepage of topic: Home, replace it with another page or leave blank.

  • $regcmd$, I found this in my prefetch file, is this a bug?

I found this in my prefetch file... I think maybe it's a bug, but can't find anything online about this... can someone tell me what it is and if I need on my computer?

    Thanks Mike

    Hello

To learn more about the folder prefetch visit the link:

    What is the prefetch folder?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-the-prefetch-folder

Folder Prefetch does not contain a bug, it just keeps track of the way your computer starts and which programs you usually open. Windows saves this information in a number of small files in the prefetch folder.

    Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. It might help others who have the same problem.

    Thank you.

  • Why hide my taskbar and does not come backwhenever I open firefox and other files?

  • Firefox hangs; I opened firefox and it goes back to the pages that just crashed instead of my homepage

Firefox crashes, or a page block upward, so I close the browser (sometimes have to close it by the Task Manager. When I try to re - open firefox, need me to pages that just crashed, rather than my home page.

    Windows XP SP3, P4 3.4Ghz

Yes, it's normal. You want to disable that? There are a couple of settings related to resume your previous session after a crash:

    (A) resume automatically, but if Firefox crashes twice in a row, displays a list of windows and tabs and let me choose. (default)

    (B) does not resume automatically, always show the list of windows and tabs and let me choose; (I recommend this approach) or

    (C) never automatically resume and do not display the list.

Switching to B or C requires a visit to Firefox about: config preferences editor.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste sess and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    For "B":

    Double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes preference from 1 to 0 (that's a zero).

    For "C":

Double-click on browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash preference to change its value from true to false.

  • How to stop the help page of "Better Privacy" to come whenever I open Firefox and while browsing?

The "Better Privacy" help page opens in a tab separated everytime I open Firefox. I close, but he comes back, usually when I go to another site (by clicking on a link or by using a bookmark) and at intervals apparently at random so that I am browsing.

I'm sure this isn't malware, but it drives me crazy. Is there no way to block this annoyance?

I don't want to disable the best privacy, but I am often tempted to do.

I use Ubuntu (Linux) 12.04, which comes with Firefox 18.0.2.

  • Error type: Yahoo.widget.overlay is not a constructor. Only get error in Firefox, and started this morning.

There was an automatic Windows Update this morning. Since then, I get the error message "type: Yahoo.widget.overlay is not a constructor ' when I open certain websites such as ancestry.com. Other sites such as Facebook, do any work. Everything looks garbled when I open the Web site. Other sites seem to be unaffected, although I have not more open. These errors are produced only with Firefox and not IE. IE still works very well.

A friend just to give me a tip that solved this problem. I went to the Options menu, content and unchecked the box that says "enable Java Script". I have no idea why this worked, but it solved the problem and all the Web sites seem to be working again.
