I put the preference of search engine like Google, but Firefox has failed to Bing - help?

Yesterday, I got a page pop up direct me to download a new add-on to Mozilla which would increase the security of the browser. After completing the installation, my browser to search kept defaulting to Bing instead of Google. I checked several forums, including yours, to get instructions, but as you can see in the attached picture, my settings to use Google are still in place, and I can't understand why he is always failing to Bing. I don't want to completely uninstall Firefox if I have to, I'd lose all my saved favorites and other data, but what can I do to fix this?

Please remove "SafeSearch Incognito", which seems to be malicious: disable or remove modules https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/safesearch-incognito-used-inappropriately-should-not-be-signed/11979

as future Councils, if please never install anything just because a website opens and is advertising for him - real security updates will be never offered for you this way!

Is there a way to disable the display of all the search engines available in the results 'search as you type "?

Please, do not react with an antibot question or answer, the only goal, is that I see if it's possible or not until you switch to another browser. Seems more recent updates to firefox are based mainly on the subjective views of individuals rather than on the wishes of the user. Such a shame for that one good browser.

You have not been hacked.  Looks that you have installed the malware or adware programs on your hard drive, and it is at the origin of the result of your search be redirected to Yahoo.  You have two options to remove:

    • Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware for Mac.  It was developed by an employee trust and respected here.  It is a simple and non-intrusive program that removes malware known/adware from your hard drive.  That's all that.  It does nothing and is not take anything else.  Unlike the antiviruss protection programs, it does not work in the background of your computer, using the resources and also unlike anti-virus programs (which are not necessary on Macs), it is not actively prevent malware infections or adware.  Its only purpose is to remove them.
    • Restart your computer.  As of April 26, 2016, changes to the support article here-> stop the cAds in Safari - Apple charge El Capitan State removes adware when you connect, but only when connecting.  So, if you do not want to use Malwarebytes, it's another option for you.

Then go to Safari preferences-> Extensions and remove any that you do not install or you don't need.  Then go to Safari preferences-> search, then reset your preferred Google search engine.  Finally, go to Safari Preferences-> general and make sure that your home page has not been changed and if she, change it back to what it was before.

  • Search engine Chatzum installed on Firefox. How can I remove it

Chatzum is installed on Firefox.and appears as search engine by default whenever I open a new tab. It does not appear in the list of enhines research or as an add-on. Can you suggest how to remove it

Considering that Firefox 13 does not show a "search engine" in a new tab page, I will assume that you have changed Subject: newtab to on: House to the new tab page.

With the topic: Home page loaded, paste this into the address bar and press ENTER.

    javascript:{localStorage["search-engine"]="{\"name\":\"Google\",\"searchUrl\":\"http://www.google.com/search?q=_searchTerms_&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a\"}";void(0);}

    This restores this preference.

  • Bar do not use the Safari address search engine

My address bar of Safari only acts as a search engine occasionally. Usually when I type something in the address bar that is not a Safari URL by default one Google search. For example if I typed "How to feed your goldfish" in the address bar, add Safari "-google search" in the expression I would be redirected to a Google search. Sometimes, when I type a Google search in the treats Safari address bar it as a URL. 'How to feed your goldfish' would be to redirect to the how%20to%20feed%20your%20goldfish.com Web page. No idea why? My goldfish is hungry

In your Safari menu bar, click Safari > Preferences , and then select the Privacy tab.

Click on: data to remove any Web site

Quit and then restart Safari to test.

That said, lets ask it differently this time, why mozilla is allowing other sites in an arbitrary manner, a whim, authorize a Web site changes to the someones browser? If someone sets their browser to a specific search engine, mozilla shall not permit to be changed by one source, other than the owner (the user in this case), at BEST maybe a fox herself warning system requesting a change.

This would raise the question, how many other problems of security work in the background that are not intrusive (recorders, data mining etc..) which are 'allowed' to manipulate the Fox without knowing them users? How can I install / activate some features of alert that maybe says:

"Your current search engine [search engine] was changed, are you sure? Now, users are less likely to lose their search engine without warning.

Web sites cannot change your default search engine in Firefox without having to install a local file, is a program that changes your settings or an add-on. If you've seen any site show how to hack the default search engine setting while visiting a web page, please report the URL to Mozilla for urgent investigation.

Downloading a program and especially an add-on install prompts the user to allow/disallow installation, although the site may not be honest about the purpose and effect of the program, and Firefox is unable to break down a program in real time and tell you in advance what he does.

The most frequent cases seen on this forum is where a user has downloaded free software as "watch live sports anywhere" or "video" and it comes with a range of invasive software that either has not been disclosed or you just didn't notice in the 10 pages of small print, you have accepted. In fact, the installer may have been downloaded with any browser and affect all your browsers.

In regards to the programs that you are allowing your system how can Firefox, Firefox assumes that you accepted and allows them to run if they meet the current validation requirements and have not been reported for blocking. There is not a ban on Add-ons that affect research. If you think that there should be, you could raise this suggestion on the forum of modules here:

I suspect that you need to learn about the functioning of the new search bar in Firefox 34. See if anything here helps you - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-bar-add-change-manage-search-engines-firefox
