I reinstalled my Vista OS and now am wondering if I should upgrade to Service Pack 2

I had problems to reboot, and I had to do a whole reinstall to my Vista operating system factory settings. I installed all the updates except SP2. When I had before Service Pack 2,

(1) my printer had recurring problems. He'd stop work again and again, and I have to unplug it, plug it and then be reinstalled device drivers. Sometimes, it would not work.  In addition, device drivers would be reinstalling on their own... constantly. I'll never know id that my printer would work the day the day. Without SP2, I got not a single printer problem.

(2) my C drive would get smaller and smaller, no discernible reason. I have a huge separate partition (873 GB) to store any media. Without SP2, my space and my C drive is the same, except when I download files that must remain on the C drive, which are not much more space. When I had Service Pack 2, my C drive decreased down to almost nothing. At idle, I could have lost 2 or three concerts.

So, are these problems related to Service pack 2, or was it a coincidence? Anyone know anything about this?

Hello

Follow these methods and check if that helps.

Method 1:

You can go ahead and install Windows Vista SP2. Before you install, see article below:

  • I had to reinstall Windows XP again and now him "you have become a victim of software piracy" has appeared.

    Hello

I had to reinstall Windows XP again and now him "you have become a victim of software piracy" has appeared. I know for sure my code OEM is legal, because I enabled Windows XP on this machine before several times. So I decided to activate the key using msoobe.exe and via the internet.
Apparently, internet activation is not available (a message code 24579). Of course, I tried the phone activation. Called on the answering machine, type the digits of the ID of the instalation. It don't did me not have any code to write in the fields ABCDEFG. Only that a mistake occurred.  Then I clicked on "Change product key" once asked me to do. Type in the product key. But it was rejected. I answered honestly, machine that I have not any new instalation ID. They said I need to contact the seller, because my key is not genuine... obviously, there is no way that he can help me.
    What should I do now?
    Thank you in advance.
original title: cannot activate the XP by phone

The key used here is a Volume that was never issued by Microsoft - license key was generated by the KeyGen tool a hacker.

If it is key that you tried to activate, so it is no surprise it is rejected.

If however, you have a valid key for Win XP Pro, you can change the it to this one, using the product key update tool, as Carey said. - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/genuine/product-key

SP3 actually contains SP2 and, Yes, you can upgrade to SP1 SP3 directly. After the back if you need help because some people experience problems with this particular update (usually based on two factors: the brand of their PC and whether or no, some security programs are running in the background).

The link below contains several options that you can try for your problem of .NET.  I would first try the repair facility. Then the uninstall option.

Internet worked well until I reinstalled windows vista 64 bit on my Dell laptop, now my Internet does not work. Went into Device Manager and there is no network adapter. I tried to reinstall the driver that came with my laptop disk but it doesn't seem to work, says that I need an updated driver. I don't know what else to do, I have to install a new driver from the Internet? Ugh becomes very frustrated!

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer/laptop > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > look for the latest Vista drivers > download/install them.

The computer you are using now if you have an Internet connection with the other > download / save drivers > copy them into Flash Drive > transfer / install on another computer/laptop.

  • Unable to find the personal files and desktop wallpaper is changed after the installation of Service Pack 3.

    Original title: Service pack 3.

My computer automaticlly installed Service pack 3 and when it was over installation and rebooted I couldn't come back, it only opens to the Welcome window that I tried to do it on safe mode, afew ways and all I would get was a mess, saying file is missing or damaged windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Please reinstall a copy of the above file, then there was another mess, saying load needed DLLs for Kerrnel. My computer would not shut off either Finally I held the off button down until it finally stops, then when I started it back up he did not return, but it wasn't the same startup window. There was another image of office programs on my desk were not all the same and all my photos are nolonger may not find them as well as some of my personal files that were no longer on my desk. is could someone please tell me what happened?

    Hi smittycindy,

What steps you have tried to solve the problem?

one) that you are able to boot to the desktop now, try to do a system restore that will repair return the computer to the point while it was working fine.

How to restore Windows XP to a previous state

    (b) you can then manually download & install Service pack 3 from this link and check if the problem persists.

I'm trying to help a friend install sp2 to vista Home premium. I tried all the tips I can find nothing on this forum (and google) does not. However, I can't find any post (or article) installation involving a failure of sp2 with 0x800705B3 error code. All messages (or objects) I found with THIS focus with the installation of the hardware drivers after the sp2 update. Can someone help me with this?

I downloaded both of these updates and was asked to restart my computer in order to install them.  When I restart my computer it says: "Installation to update 1 of 2..." and then finally she said "Shutting down...". "But my computer never stops.  Fifteen to twenty minutes later, I get a blue screen that says something about the dumping of memory, then the computer reloads the login screen.  When I log in, I get the 643 error message that says that it was unable to install the updates.  As a side effect of this error whenever I try to shut down my computer, it tries to reinstall the update again and my computer never stops.  Even when I unplug the wall remains on him.  I tried to use system restore to go back to the point before I installed the update, but it loads just for a while and then said: "system restore has failed."  I read in another thread that you are not allowed to bring support for updates associated security update.  If this is the case then I need at least to help make my computer stop trying to install these updates when I shut down my computer so it stops correctly.  Thank you.

    RAH66Comanche,
With these security updates, it is better to get them installed.  You can run the following tools to ensure that there is no system problems:
    Disk error checking
    System File Checker

Then, run the System Update tool and try again to install updates.

If you just want to try to hide these updates, you can perform the following procedure:

Click Start Menu > click the button run
In the Open box, type %windir% & then click OK.
Note the %windir%\System32 folder is the folder where you installed Microsoft Windows.
    Find the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
Right-click the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and then click Rename.
Type SoftwareDistributionOld & then press ENTER.

Then go to Windows Update and hide the 2 updates.
