iCal

I've recently upgraded to El Cap, 10.11.6, on my MacBook, and everything was great, except for iCal. Now when I go to open it, the icon in the toolbar bounces, him point appears behind her and the calendar tabs appear at the top of my screen; However, there is no calendar window that appears... I tried to create a new event, open a new window, even with all the windows at the front, all with no avail. iCal still works on my iPhone and says it is opening on my laptop but just is not actually appear. Any ideas?

Hi cudalives,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. Sorry to hear that you experience these symptoms after a recent upgrade. If you encounter problems with the calendar launch in OS X El Capitan, you can test and verify that it launches correctly in a new test user. For the last two days, when I try to add or edit an event in iCal I get the warning triangle and when I click it I get "server responded with"509"operation CalDAVMoveEntityQueueableOperation". If I go back to the server, I get the same message. I can't seem to make changes stick.

Today, I decided to try and go straight to the calendar on iCloud. I can even add an event there - it says "Server error, please try again."

At the same time (so) calendars are not sync between devices (3 desktop computers and 1 laptop all connected to my iCloud).

  • multiply the iCal events

I use icloud for synchronization between my ical / Apple calendar on a 9.3.5 and a MPB, an iMac 10.10 10.7.5 iPhone. Problem is that a lot of events multiplied since I started about 3 weeks. Multiply which means sometimes create copies in 20-30 of the same event inside the same calendar. If this isn't to have dual calendars as support articles that I could find are assuming that - it is about events within a calendar multiplying like mouse. I can sit and delete them manually, but it is an act very very annoying and time consuming, especially if you consider that - at least less 10.10 to name more developed MacOs version - there is no calendar event list display. I also tried to move these duplicates for a new schedule, that I named 'REMOVE' to remove all in a bunch, but that lead only to 509 CalDAVMoveEntityQueueableOperation errors, so I skipped that. Given that some of the events included e-mail invitations, I also don't want to have one of my customers receive 50 emails to have a deleted or cancelled appointment which in fact and btw takes place nevertheless. So what am I supposed to do? Anyone else with similar experiences or even a solution to this?

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • iCal doesn't sync iMac iPad iPhone

I use the latest versions of El Capitan and IOS on my iPhone and iPad. Recently stopped sync iCal. I tried the manual backup of IOS devices in iTunes, but that has not helped.

Try to go to iCloud.com to see if the elements are there and whether the device or the computer. That should indicate if the device or computer is not synchronizing. If the computer, try going to System Preferences/iCloud and stop synchronization. Wait a few minutes, then recheck the timing. If the device, go to settings/iCloud and do the foregoing. You can also try connecting to iCloud and then reconnect.

  • iCal on my mac, then merge with iCloud

I would like to use iCal to automate a task every night, I tried to do it via iCal. I want iCl to open a specific program to save my catalog of photography at a specific time (while I'm asleep), then close in the morbibg until I wake up. I used the custom alert to do, who works for a day or two, then iCloud removes the custom alert and all I'm left with is a reminder without action.

Ideally, I would like to create a reminder that "on my mac" as I don't want this reminder popping up on my other Apple devices, because it is no longer relevant to my 27 iMac (my work computer).

I tried to create a calendar that is only "on my mac" that I did it by disabling the iCloud, make a schedule, creating personalized with custom alarm, reminder and then turning power on. The only problem is iCloud absorbs only nine "on my mac" calendar and eventually turns off the custom alert, so I'm no further forward in doing so.

Please can anyone help because it's so boring. Why did you take this Apple? Not everyone wants everything in the iCloud all the time!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello daxdavies,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. I know have a problem with the calendar on your Mac app, it's not what you expect. As I understand it, you can't make and keep a schedule "on my Mac", as when you activate the iCloud "on my Mac" gets merged with iCloud calendar and gets synchronized on your other devices. Personally, I've tested this and couldn't replicate, so here is what I suggest to identify and solve your problem:

    1. use Mode without fail to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, remove files from the system cache, check your startup disk and trying to fix problems if necessary directory. Test this problem by disabling your iCloud calendar and create the event and a timetable "on my Mac" then restart your Mac and reactivating the iCloud calendar.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning
Graphics performance limited in recovery of OS X or in safe mode

    2. If you are still experiencing a problem, you can know if unexpected behavior is related to the user file or a parameter in trying to reproduce the problem to another user account. This process includes creating a new user account, connect to it and test for the issue.

  • How can I delete an iCal event without notice to the sender?

I recently received a spam iCal event (the description was entirely in Chinese and the guest list has anyone I knew in this topic).  When I checked it initially only available options were present, perhaps, or refuse.  Then, I went to my calendar and tried to delete the event.  However, after clicking on delete my only options were to decline or cancel.  Why not iCal will give me the ability to delete without answering?  I looked online and there thread dating back to 2003 with similar questions.  Are there work around this issue? I have the latest version of El Capitan.

I received an invitation from very similar timetable. I don't have an Apple computer, but I have an iPad and iPhone and shows, and it appears on all three. It is a day-long meeting which lasts until the end of September, so it is difficult to ignore it and work around it. We need option to get rid of him without it falling.

  • How can I restore deleted iCal appointments or entries?

A person who I've shared an iCal account with mistakenly deleted number of entries. Is to restore the changes anyway?

    Hello gonzo80_19,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that someone you share a calendar with many of your entries deleted by mistake. I know how it is important for you to be able to restore your missing calendar entries. If the calendar was on iCloud, I recommend using iCloud.com to restore calendar entries. The following article was necessary and I highlighted them for you below:

If you have accidentally deleted your calendars, reminders, or contacts to iCloud

Restore your calendars and reminders from an earlier version

Several things happen when you restore a previous version of your calendars and reminders:

    • Your sharing settings get deleted. You can share calendars and reminders, again, or you can ask the owner to share again.
    • iCloud cancels and recreates all your events to come, scheduled, then returns the invitations for you.

To restore your calendars and missing reminders:

    1. Connect to iCloud.com.
    2. Click settings.
    3. Scroll and click on restore schedules and reminders under Advanced.
    4. Click on restore next to the date before remove you your calendars and reminders.
    5. Click on restore again to confirm. Once the restore is complete, you will get the iCloud.com and e-mail to address a notification on file with your Apple ID.

    Best regards

  • Work around for the Ical does not send do not issue invitations

If I understand the problem, ical will not send an invitation email to someone it detects has an ical account. People don't know they have an invitation or they use Google or Outlook to their calendars. Despite everything, they just don't receive invitations to your meetings. For some reason, Apple does not change the rules.

I was going to start using my Google Calendar and just invite myself, but I used my Gmail account as my ID for Apple. Ah, the tangled web we weave when we try to be cute with Apple products.

In any case, I was wondering if anyone had a work around for this problem "iCal don't send invitations." I want just the people I work with in voluntary organizations to get an email with an invitation attached. Has anyone found a way around this? I'm about to go to Evite!

    Thank you

You can invite people to events using their e-mail address or their name. To invite people by name, they must be in your Contacts application with an email address, or they must use the same service calendar CalDAV or Exchange as you (for example, your company's employees).

    Invite people using window addresses

    1. Choose window > presentation.
    2. Search people, then drag them to the event.

Send an email or a message for guests

    1. Control-click on the event.
    2. Choose send all guests or Message all guests.

    Add guests to the Contacts

    1. Force or double-click on a click event.
    2. Hold the pointer over a guest, and then click the pop-up menu .
    3. Choose Add to Contacts. If you do not see Add to Contacts, but you do not show Contact card, the guest is already in Contacts.

  • How can I set an alert 'custom' default in iCal

I want to get a message with his"as the reminder of events in iCal so that I can hear it on my mac and my iphone.  The default value is just a message, so I have to set a custom alert every time.  Is there a way to turn it?  Thank you. Shona

I have the same problem.  In fact, I have also complaint that we cannot chose the default sound or tone of the alert.

I am surprised and very disappointed.  Supposedly Apple prides itself on being friendly and easily adapted to the preferences of the user.  So, why they do not have something so simple and obvious that us leash chose our default sound alert?  Especially when we can, chose the default tone for so many other things.

Does anyone know a way to communicate directly with someone at Apple to get an answer?

  • ICal with local email invitation

Hi, I use a business email (IMAP synchronization-based) and I need to send invitations to this account (it is not an icloud account). It is possible to configure sending invitations to emal local Ical and do not use Icloud?

    Thank you

    Hi danielran,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

I see you want to invite people to your calendar events with one account other than your iCloud.  First, you will need to add the new account to your calendar by following the instructions in the link below:

Calendar (El Capitan): Adding calendar accounts

Once that is set up, you can follow the steps in this link and invite people to your event:

Calendar (El Capitan): Invite people to events

    Take care.

  • ICal doesn't send invitations (to email, not Apple)

I discovered my iCAL does not send invitations to meetings etc. I tested with the tech support Lady and it leads them to apple.com but my Yahoo id does not them. I guess he's going through apple addresses only. The questions that happens when I create a meeting on my MacBook Air, my iphone, or if I am doing it online via Icloud. I don't know when it started, but it has been awhile.

I see that this problem has been reported until 2011, so I wanted to get raised again. I spoke with the person of support from Apple last week, but they did not get back to me. I'm retired and involved in many activities, so it is important to me.

Has anyone had this and fixed it? Thank you

    Jan,

You said: "I guess he's going through apple addresses only." I can verify that an address of Apple is not a requirement, and I suspect a problem with your «Yahoo id test» setup

Perhaps, Calendar (El Capitan): If people do not receive invitations can be useful for troubleshooting this problem.
