iCloud drive sync seems to put all files on all devices.

I'm fighting to manage this. I have 150 GB of space of barrier which I would like to store my personal files about 80 GB but they seem to have appeared on other computers.

NET, I'm out of memory on the Macbook air and main work desk.

I always want to iCloud document reader to do not want to stop, but I don't need all the files on all terminals.

Is there a way to choose the folders to be synchronized?

iCloud drive is 'selective sync '.

You can't choose which is copied on other Macs if you end up with everything everywhere.

The FAQ mentions "all documents", but does not say how to have a selection...

iCloud Drive FAQ - Apple Support

A better option is to Dropbox (or one of the many other sync services). It has the ability to allow you to choose which is copied in the devices, other services.

Describe the problem and include details on what seems to make it.

The Macbook was working a little slowly. It seemed a good idea to transfer files to the player to iCloud from various places on the Macbook. I created a folder, XXX, within the iCloud drive. I did drag elements of 2200 (displaced), approximately 1.8 GB total for the XXX folder. The files successfully on 15 minutes, no files in the source folder. Disk utility showed that I had lost free disk space, to about 14 GB on the Macbook.

Use the Finder to open the iCloud drive showed two points of interest:

    • At the bottom of the window in the Finder to iCloud drive notification: 8 items, 15 GB available, download 2 235 elements (1.84 GB 1.94 GB).

Since the transition to iCloud Drive 18 hours it is, nothing good is felt. Notification of message like above remain unchanged.

  • ICloud email is unusably slow on all devices, including IOS

    Hello

In the last few weeks, I noticed that icloud is ridiculously slow to deal with requests for access by email.  This is true on my iPhone 6, my old iPad, my Mac and my PC using Outlook as a front end.

Moving or deleting an email takes more than 20 to 30 seconds.  Open an e-mail take 15 seconds.

On my iPhone, deleted emails reappear at some time later, probably because the request to the server to execute the delete command timed out.

I searched the web and found a lot of old complaints on this issue, but nothing new in 2016.  It is certainly a new and frustrating problem.  I might have to abandon iCloud.

Here is a very boring video, showing how to the web interface of 40 seconds to delete an e-mail in iCloud.  Shameful.

  • Turn off sync to iCloud drive to specific folders?

I have some files I've downloaded to iCloud Drive, which I rarely opened.

I know than iCloud Drive intelligently synchronizing files that I rarely opened, but is it possible for me to:

    1. mark a specific folder in iCloud drive to not synchronize my devices? I think that this as a feature of "cold storage"?

2 interrupt synchronization to iCloud drive everything as I interrupt iCloud Photos on Mac?

Since I'm in an environment where the internet speed is very limited and I often uses mobile wifi (MiFi) whereby data is very expensive, so I need to manage the synchronization manually by myself. I also want to save precious space on my MacBook Pro SSD, this is why I need this feature of "cold storage" in the cloud.

Note: This tip below might work for the interruption of synchronization, but y at - it another way to interrupt synchronization?

How suspend you iCloud drive sync?  It is using all of my mobile data!

My environment: 13 "2015 retina MacBook Pro installed in El Capitan, iPhone running iOS 9.3.5 6.

    Thank you.

Right now, iCloud drive will be synchronized snapshots of documents and data from your Mac.

macOS Sierra will bring changes to this.  See the preview.   Preview - Apple macOS

You will be able to use "Optimize storage" for iCloud Drive and include your desktop and Documents folder in iCloud drive.  Then you can choose to keep only the document new and used recently, all the old files and data locally in the cloud.

Get ready for the update on 20 September.

  • Configuration of backups from iCloud drive: why are there two Mobile Documents files?

I've recently started using iCloud drive to synchronize documents between my Mac and iOS devices. Now, I want to assure you that I have local backups of these documents.

I understand that the documents synchronized via iCloud are store locally in my Mobile user home/library/Documents folder. But when I check I made 2 folders: Documents Mobile and Mobile Documents.90391253.  The Documents Mobile folder seems to keep all the records that I created using Pages, drafts and TextEdit.  The second folder has files with obscure names such as ' JFJWWP64QD ~ com ~ goodiware ~ GoodReader. ". Records of Documents that I checked are empty.

Here is a screenshot of the second folder:

Why are there two folders of Documents Mobile? When you add a folder to a backup program, I would add two folders or just the folder Documents Mobile?

The second folder (the one your screenshot) is a backup of an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, which was made via iTunes. More information: finding and managing your backups iTunes - Apple Support

  • iCloud drive text files being opened with numbers

Before, everything worked fine with text files (.txt files) I have in iCloud drive.

A tap on iCloud drive and another click on a text file on my iPhone would open the file Notes.

From some point on (I think I got the same text file open at the same time on my Mac and my iPhone) iCloud drive to text on my iPhone files are opened with numbers.

Later, when I type a text file to the iCloud drive on my iPhone I have numbers open this file.

When I press the information next to the name of text file icon, I get a screen of info saying at the top of the right page "open in numbers."

I have the text file is a file in format (.rtf), there is no problem; Notes opens this file; and the Info screen, top right, for this file says nothing about the application that will open the file.

This only happens on my iPhone; I have a 5 s, 64 GB, with the latest iOS 9.3.1

On my Mac everything works fine.

I tried a "Reset all settings" but that did not work.

No idea of what is happening and how to fix?

Even. .txt files will open in figures on iOS of the iCloud drive. Why is this and can it be changed?

  • If I install the iCloud drive on my laptop and remove this app from my iphone due to the lack of storage, to lose all the data that I saved in there?

If I install icloud drive in my laptop where all my important data is saved and uninstall the app from my iphone icloud drive, my data is secure?

    A couple of things...

-If you have an Apple laptop or desktop, with a software update system, so there is no way to 'install iCloud Drive' to this topic as it is already there as a function of iCloud.

-remove the iCloud (app) drive icon on your iPhone will do nothing.

-If your data is already in iCloud, so rest assured, it is already safe.

iCloud drive holds shadow copies of all the files on your Mac so you can always access your documents, even in offline mode. It is supposed to keep your documents synced to your devices, not as only an off-site storage to save space on the mac.

You can't stop the shadow - on iCloud drive all files will be downloaded to your Mac, if you enable iCloud drive.

If you want to iCloud drive as an external storage without the shadow, don't turn on your Mac, but only use the web interface at www.iCloud.com to download and view the documents there. But then you will not be able to see iCloud drive as a drive in the Finder.

  • record numbers in iCloud drive on my Mac, filter the other apps

I like to use the Finder as a starting point to find and open documents.

I added a sidebar favorite "iCloud drive.

It shows the files I put in place and some docs that I moved to this location

    BUT

He shows no subfolders for 'Numbers', 'Pages', "TextEdit", records that have been created automatically and used as storage location by default when you use the corresponding software / application.

ARG! These records show on the web, iCloud.com and within the limits in the apps on the window to open.

How / can I see them on my Finder pane permanently?

Go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive, click Options, and check in front of page numbers, etc. These files should then manifest in iCloud drive in the Finder.

Yes, the collection clears all of the C drive and you will lose your files. The solution would be to backup regularly to an external HARD drive and after the key one to also restore the files from the external hard drive.

This has been answered before, if you do a search for "key recovery" it appears among the first results.
