IE9 will not play .wmv files

I can't play a media file using IE9.  The codec is installed to .wmv.  The file will play locally and in Firefox, but not in IE9.  What I see in the lower corner of the media player, it's open..., tracking... and then change of media.  The next thing I get is the following message from Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file

1. go in Control Panel > sound > Speakers > properties
2. Select improvements
3. Select Disable all improvements
4. click on apply, Ok

5. in the speakers/headphones properties window, click apply, OK.

Retry .wmv

Change of media-

Normally, when you change a song info (for example, artist) in the library, WMP is not immediately write the change in the corresponding music file, but wait a while and then the fact quietly in the background. You can use apply media information changes to force WMP to save all the changes to file immediately.

In addition, if you subscribe to a music or video subscription through an online service, it is recommended that you turn on the automatically check if protected files need to be refreshed option (by default, it is enabled). When this option is enabled, the player will have to regularly scan your library for purchased and subscription files that are missing the usage rights, files that have arrived at expiration of the rights, or files that have rights that are about to expire. The Player will then try to download the rights from the Internet. This allows to improve reading, burning, and sync experiences with purchased and subscription files.

Why is it turning when run locally and running on the same computer do not in IE9?

Codecs may have changed

Why it runs well in Firfox to the same computer?

IE 9 runs plugins differently

  • Media Player will not play music files now that he used to play.

I have Windows Vista and my media player has recently decided that it will not play some music files that it used to play. When I try to read, I got the error message saying that the file type is not supported by the player, or that the file was compressed by using a codec that does not support the player. Why has it started to do this, and what can I do about it? He is not doing it with all the music files, only some of them.

    Hello

The ASF Format (Advanced Systems) is the preferred Windows Media file format. With Windows Media Player, if the appropriate codecs are installed on your computer, you can play audio content, video content, or both, that is compressed with a wide variety of codecs and that is stored in an .asf file.

  • Windows Media Program will not play MP4 files

I was always able to play MP4 on my HP laptop.  Now, I get a message that Windows Media Player has encountered a problem.  I went on the site and followed the instructions.  Always impossible to get Microsoft Media Player to read my files.  I have created dozens over the last two years. I ran all the updates...

It seems that the mp4 codec to play these videos has become corrupted or deleted. AVIcodec allows you to see if you have the right codec installed for this video http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/avicodec.html this will tell you what codec you need, and then install or reinstall google if it comes from a cd that came with your camera or something similar.

  • Windows Media Player will not play music files - need to reset the file path

I'm trying to access my music on an external drive (g) using windows media player. The player is looking for music in the E: drive, which is a separate external drive that my friend uses for its iTunes. How to reset the path to the file for windows media player? It gives me the possibility of rerouting individually paths files, but not a lot of re - routing. I have reset the default settings, reinstalled the drive external, even enabled/activated on WMP (of the Panel).

I tried. The drive G:\ was included in the WMP library before this problem (and to make sure, I deleted and added it). Despite this, the paths for each song pointed toward the drive E:\.  I solved the problem by deleting all of your WMP library (not files) and restart the media player. The files were then reread with the correct file paths.

Back to a system restore point previous fixed the problem and I could again play the files in Media Player, but during the night that Windows updates installed and the morning I could not play these .mp4 files once more. So I restored to a point earlier, changed my updates so that they are is more automatic and by installing each day at a time, I finally isolated the problem in Internet Explorer 10. If I install that, just Windows Media Player will not play these files.
I tried a manual update of Internet Explorer 10, turn off all the options of toolbars shit and everything, thinking that when it automatically installs those who may be included, but that has not helped. Had to go back to my previous IE10 restore point. So no matter what, Internet Explorer 10 kills my ability to play .mp4 on Windows Media Player files.
I don't have toolbars running on IE9 at all.
I know that's obvious answer is 'do not install Internet Explorer 10' or if I do, download another player for .mp4 files. But the fact is, it shouldn't happen, it is indicative of something being wrong, and I would like TO be able to install Internet Explorer 10 AND use Windows Media Player to play these files. If someone else has had this problem, or know a way to fix it?
    Here are my system specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
    Intel Core i5 - 3350P @ 3.10 GHz CPU
    ASRock H77M LGA 1155 motherboard
    8 GB DDR3 240 - Pin SD RAM
Diamond Radeon HD 7870PE52GV 7870 GHz video card
And all my programs are installed on this:
SAMSUNG series Pro 840 MZ-7PD256BW 2.5 "256GB SATA III MLC internal Solid State Drive
I'd appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you!!

It sounds like your question. I think you should uninstall this update and
hide and see if that solves your problem. Please report.

I tried myself after experiencing the same problem and error code. I uninstalled the KB2670838 update, and then my Windows Media Player finally worked again. I also found that IE 10 must be uninstalled as well. Installation of IE 10 also automatically installs the update of KB2670838 platform. After uninstalling KB2670838, IE 10 automatically uninstall with it, better you hide two updates so that they do not install again. From the link in the previous post, I learned that the platform update is having problems of conflict with the AMD drivers. Good luck to you and hope this helps.

  • M4V files together will not play

    Hey,.

I tried to reach some mp4 files linked together and can hit mp4joiner (mp4joiner.org). I joined together some mp4s I had downloaded from the internet and it worked fine. The problem came when I tried to join the m4v files that comes originally from the dvd.

M4v files have been created with makemkv. I then used the handbrake to convert them into a smaller m4v file. mp4joiner will join them together but quicktime will not play the file. When you open quicktime starts to try to convert, then a box pops up saying "quicktime player cannot open filename.mp4" (mp4joiner saved as mp4), and happens on additional software may be required to read the file.

I put the MKV by brake hand again to convert with extension mp4, thinking it was the m4v that was causing the problem but quicktime won't play anyone (VLC won't play it either, it says codec is not supported, although the sound will play). Why the file play when the source came from the internet, but will not play the file if it came from a dvd? Mkv and Handbrake files play fine, only when I try to join them that will not play the new file.

How can I sort this or can anyone recommend another program Carpenter? I tried the iMovie but the original videos are 4:3 and iMovie eventually their stretch in 16:9, when released.

    Thank you

(mac mini, Mac OSX 10.11 at the end of 2012)

    Update on that.

Two files that were originally downloaded from the internet and joined as well as mp4joiner, are not playing the quicktime format. They play but now I'm just the message concerning quicktime is not able to play, what is happening?

  • .wma files will not play in WMP11

Suddenly my music wma files will not play in WMP11. I have tried everything I know and read, nothing helps. So far I tried to convert the MP3 files is not working even in these programs (v3.0 have all Audio Recorder being one of them); I tried to delete the ID3 and all the other codes (HeadStrong ID3Kill v1.4), all what has been clear all my songs the album/song. etc - HUGE mistake! I tried to play in RealPlayer - still will not play wma files only mp3s; removed and reset the codecs - nothing happened. so on and so forth.

What in the world is happening? I uninstalled my old version of WMP and installed more current. When I went to play the WMA in WMP11, I get an error that it can not play. It does not itself error code number, only this statement in error. I tried to restore my computer to a date and time earlier, he said that he could not change my Media Player to the previous version.

I have more than 1,000 songs on my computer, I simply can't pull it all back in (for days and days), I copied them on 2 sticks of memory as backup, also HUGE mistake because them copied without albums and song titles.

    Help please!

  • During the recording of music of a stick files memory are corrupt, wrong Tracklisting and will not play

I had problems with Windows Media Player and now when I try to record music on a formatted key, will not play the files, the track list is a track (the first track is not numbered) and the files end up corrupted but not all. The albums that record correctly with the announcement of the track won't play either. This process is done through sync WMP and I have Windows 7 64 bit, but not sure the version of WMP. If I open the music in HP Cloud(I have a HP Pavilion dv6) is properly listed and plays music.  I received a message saying that there are errors on the files in the 'device' and crossed the fix given, but it is never finished and has not corrected and problems. I reformatted the stick and tried again with the worst corruption problems than in the past and unable to delete files without reformat the stick again. Any help is appreciated.
