  • iMac restarts after the osx update

Hi my son has an iMac (mid-2011 Office), and there is an OSX update it will update, but then goes to a screen gray white and just sat there. I've left overnight and does not finish the installation and come back to life.

I tried to reinstall the operating system via CMD R and I tried first aid on the hard drive.

If I reinstall the iMac from the time machine backup recovers OK, but I can't get the updates of the OS on the machine.

So my question is that someone has an idea what could be the cause?

I contemplate wiping the HD and basically start again, but I have to reinstall MS Office and his Steam account

    Upgrade to El Capitan

You can pass the Lion El Capitan or directly from Snow Leopard. El Capitan can be downloaded for FREE from the Mac App Store.

    Upgrade to El Capitan

To upgrade to El Capitan, you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or installed Lion. Download El Capitan from the App Store. Sign in with your Apple ID. El Capitan is free. The file is big enough, more than 5 GB, allow it some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

    Upgrade to Lion

If your computer does not meet the requirements to install the Mavericks, it can still meet the specifications to install Lion.

You can buy Lion to the Apple store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus taxes.  It's a download. You will receive an email with a redemption code that you then use on the Mac App Store for download Lion. Save a copy of this installer to your download folder because Setup deletes itself at the end of the installation.

    Lion system requirements

1 mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,

    or Xeon processor

    2. 2 GB of memory

    3 OS X 10.6.6 or later (10.6.8) recommended

    4. 7 GB of available space

    5. certain features require an Apple ID; conditions apply.

I suggest that stick you with Snow Leopard because the Lion is a bit a dog. If you really need to upgrade over Snow Leopard, then you need a new computer.

  • power supply and integrated graphics card upgrad

I have an a6767c of office with integrated graphics. I would like to upgrade with a good card modest price. Perhaps nivida 9800? also a new power supply would be advised that told me. I can spend about about 250.00 maybe more I can install myself. Thinking maybe 600 watt PSU? Im a bit new to pc, but learn quickly. any help would be great.

Corsair 400CX would be my 1st choice.  With respect to the GPU, I'd go with the Radeon 4770.  Measure the case to ensure that the GPU will adjust.  These Gumball HP is designed for browsing the web and light desktop functions.  You can migrate content to a best case (Antec 300).  Final cost will be always under $ 200!

  • The power supply for Dell Precision Workstation upgrade

Recently, I posted a question regarding the upgrade of that food to a XPS 8700 and it seems that I can use ATX power supplies and replace as necessary to these computers. But now I am also thinking of dell precision workstations, because I want to have a few relatively high-performance computing done on my system, what it seems as a workstation would be better, as the work of Dell Precision T1700 Mini Tower. But I can't understand anything on the question of whether I can pass the integrated power supply so that it exceed 700w. Thus,.

    (1) any reflection on the power supply upgrade, whether possible?

    (2) are there jobs integrated with a high (greater than 700watts) power?

    (3) in the future, if I wanted to know if I could make these upgrades to other Dell machines, where can I find out about this?

    Hi Daniel191919,

Yes, most power supplies from Dell can be improved with standard parts. But honestly, the easiest would be to get a precise work with the PSU W 1100 high range.

  • Looking for a power cord EU for iMac.

Hello, I am a technician in the Air Force, stationed in Belgium and as most know, the power cords are different here. I'm simply looking for the European version of iMac use power cord then here to do not to damage my computer. I went up to visit the Apple Store in Brussels and they couldn't help me either. If anyone knows of a place I can order one, one I can buy or any help, please let me know. Thank you.      TSgt Brandon Pettersen

I am shocked that the Apple local store could not help. They should have at hand the power cords. The link below will take you to an Apple kit for adapters that work around the world. In addition, do a simple Google search for something like "Apple cords European." You will see all sorts of opportunities for Walmart to Ebay at local computer stores.

  • I have an iMac 2007 running osx 10.6, I would upgrade to the Mavericks.  I don't have an installation CD, how to accomplish this?

I have an iMac 2007 mid running osx 10.6 with 4 GB of Ram. I want to upgrade to the Mavericks, 10.9. I don't have the installation CD and the App store only allow me to upgrade El Capitan. I'm afraid that this will bring my iMac to a crawl. Any thoughts on how I can find an installation CD or recommend other methods to achieve this?

    Thank you

    Larry

Your model is eligible? You can install El Capitan now. There is no disk installer for use with OS X since the release of Snow Leopard. Why do you believe that El Capitan will bring your computer to a crawl, but the Mavericks will not?

If I were you I would stick with Snow Leopard, because it is more suitable for your old hardware. Note that Snow Leopard is needed in order to upgrade to Lion or later version.

  • External CD drive will not mount on OSX

An external CD/DVD drive will not mount on my iMac running the latest OSX update. I'm on my second CD drive (sorry Amazon). When I insert an audio CD, it is recognized. I am able to rip the CD fine, but then the Player responds neither to open unless I unplug the USB to which I am able to open it and change the CD I tried to use external power to the player. That

s not the question. Disk Util sees only after fresh USB connection. Profile of sys can see at any time. Back to zero does not correct the problem is it better that disconnect and reconnect. All OS updates have been applied. No other devices or software problems. Y at - it a tip. This should be simple and Yes, CD player works on a Windows machine, but I have not yet tried on another machine from Apple.

  • Problem reinstalling OS on Imac 10.6.8

Hi, I just got re [placed my hard drive failure. Before that, I have a clean copy of 10.6.8 and all data on an external drive that was taken using Time Machine. I deleted the new hard drive is visible and functional on my iMac. Basically, I couldn't reload 10.6.8 from the external drive. As an alternative to the reloading from the hard drive, I thought that it would be viable to use my installation disc to boot from, then does this and loaded 10.6.1 on the new hard drive. I chose then software upgrades, and updates 7 downloaded system update to apply, I knew would give me until 10.6.8. To complete the installation of the software updates, it requires the system to be restarted. I chose this and toolbars will disappear from the display, leaving the background screen displayed while he goes through the process of restarting. A few hours later, he still has the same screen, so has not completed the process of restarting. If I have this ends with power off, OSX is still in 10.6.1. Any help or advice will be appreciated. Thank you.
